Endless Google results come up if you search "Lily Allen feuds"; entry #4 on this cracked.com article (http://www.cracked.com/article_20290_5-famous-online-copyright-crusaders-who-are-total-hypocrites.html) details Lily Allen's online anti-stealing campaign which was then derailed by the fact she used samples that she didn't have permission to use on several mixtapes (ringing any bells, beginning with A and ending with zealia Banks?) and has a colourful grasp of language, just like Azealia. Also pretty sure she did all of that off the back of 1 single; except she came along 5 years before Azealia did and has had the chance to put more material out.

Azealia got famous before she had any more music to put out. Lily Allen started organically on MySpace.

oh yeah that part in my post where I side I was on Azealia's side oh wait that didn't happen :suspect: everyone knows Azealia Banks is a prick, she just takes pot shots at people and she clearly does it just to keep her name in the media; she clearly doesn't care whether it's good press or bad press. It took me a little longer than everyone else but I'm bored of her now too. ATM Jam did nothing for me, she's so hit and miss and the brattitude isn't worth sticking around for to find out if she has any more hits up her sleeve.

Having said that, Lily Allen spent the majority of her career starting pointless feuds with other celebrities so it's nice to see her get a bit of **** thrown her way :hugesmile:

Azealia Banks tells AU Review (via FACT) that she scrapped that previously reported collaboration with Disclosure, which was set to appear on her upcoming debut album Broke With Expensive Taste. "I did something with Disclosure but they were, like, really rude in an interview, so I canned it."

What does being "really rude" in an interview entail? After Azealia called their team-up "the greatest studio session EVAR", Disclosure killed the buzz a bit, explaining: "I think she's kind of taken to Twitter quite heavily with the fact that she's meeting with us... People now think that we've made the greatest song of all time, and it doesn't even actually have a chorus yet."

"I might leak it, though," Azealia told the interviewer from AU Review. "And to be honest, I've got better stuff on my record... It can be an f-side. A ****-you side." I watched said Disclosure interview, they weren't even remotely offensive about her, they just said that she hyped up what they were doing before they'd really done anything and that was something that they always avoid doing because they never know how a session is going to turn out... they just went into the studio with her to see what would happen - there was no plan to make a song for her album or their album per se, they just wanted to see what would happen, and it turns out not very much happened at that session, they apparently sat around and ate sushi and made the bare bones of a track... and then in typical Azealia style she has taken that to be the most offensive thing anyone has ever said and has ripped into them even though they didn't diss her whatsoever. :rolleyes: Bored of her now, I was holding out hope that she'd put music out that would negate the constant **** talking, but she's just an overhyper with nothing to back it up.

There are flashes of brilliance (212, 1991, Liquorice, ESTA Noche, the Ibiza mix of Venus), but they come between large doses of **** (slagging off other artists, ATM Jam, slagging off other artists, Yung Rapunxel being the lead single, slagging off other artists, waiting like 2 years between 212 smashing...) and to be honest it's not even worth waiting around for her to get her act together. If she puts out a good single and I like it, I'll buy it, but I don't care for her delays and trash talk.

The best thing about fame, however, is the money. She was “mad broke” until just over a year ago. At one point, she was so poor, she worked at a strip club and had her boyfriend pay the rent. Banks grew up in Harlem with her mother and two sisters. Her father died of pancreatic cancer when she was two, “from red meat, coffee, cocaine and Courvoisier”. He was a cokehead, she says with a note of pride, “till 63”. Her mother “lost her mind” a few years after he died. Banks claims she became physically and verbally abusive. She had fistfights with her daughters, sometimes attacking them with baseball bats, Banks says. She once beat up a Mexican limo driver in the street after he hit Banks with a bag of rubbish. When her mother found out one of their boyfriends had cheated, she went round and hammered on his door, saying she would “cut his dick off and put it in a pan with some onions and peppers”. “She’s crazy,” says Banks.


As a child, she would dream of escape, “that I would become famous and be on Nickelodeon and have all these handlers and then I’d never have to deal with my mother. She would beat me and abuse me, but then buy me stuff.” Her room was filled with “parakeets and hamsters” and games consoles, “but I was such an unhappy kid”. She was sent to an expensive Catholic girls’ school because her mother “didn’t want me to go to a school with all the dirty kids on the block”, but when she turned up, she was the only black girl and “all the Dominican girls were bitches”. She got into fights “all the time, whipping people’s asses”, and eventually had to leave, enrolling at a performing-arts high school instead. The plan was that she would become an actress, but she was often too stoned to read scripts.

She started smoking at 15 because she was “sad”. She was “always a sad little girl”, and is in many ways “still sad now”. She bursts into tears. “A lot of the time, I feel really attacked by the world,” she wails. Even when she got famous, her mother couldn’t be happy for her. She is “jealous”, says Banks, “but she can’t act weird with me now, because she’s going to ask for stuff. You want a new TV, you want a new washing machine?” She cries hard for two or three minutes. “It suuuucks,” she sobs.

The only problem is that Banks seems to find these fights so exciting. She happily lays into Miley Cyrus, saying she is “ignorant” and “uninspired”. She doesn’t regret calling Lily Allen a “cokehead” in an online spat with the LDN singer a few months ago — “I’m from New York City. I’m sure she’s a big thing in the UK, but I don’t know who she is” — although she is sorry she called Perez Hilton a “******”, because she lost her deal with Mac. “Thirty minutes of laughter cost me my contract,” she sighs.

The truth is that she “can’t be a homophobe” because of a) her “**** sister” and b) the fact that her typical fan is “a gay boy between 10 and 25”. She was booed recently, because “I had a boy on my stage with his ass out”, she says, “and you know black men ain’t going for that ****. They were like, ‘Come on, you need to be going back downtown with that.’  ”

The new album, she promises, will mark a transition from “loud girl running her mouth” to something, she claims, more grown-up. “I want guys to think I’m sexy. I want guys to think I’m someone to take out. I am a pretty lady and I want people to know I’m a pretty lady. No one knows I’m a pretty lady.” So why does she pick fights? “I can’t look like a P*ssy,” she says.

Azealia Banks has slammed her record label on Twitter.

The '212' rapper criticised Universal - which she is currently signed to - saying that she is "begging to be dropped" by the label.

Banks has previously expressed her unhappiness with the numerous delays that her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste has faced since she signed with Universal.

Earlier today (January 26), she tweeted: "I REALLY should have signed with Sony. Can someone at Sony buy me off of Universal please?? i'm really in hell here." (sic).

She added: "I'm tired of having to consult a group of old white guys about my black girl craft. they don't even know what they're listening for or to. I'm literally begging to be dropped from Universal."

Banks then urged Universal to hand her over to another label which knows what to do with her.

The rapper's debut Broke With Expensive Taste was originally set to be released in September 2012, but has been delayed numerous times.

The LP was expected to be released this month, but it now appears that it has been pushed back once again.

Banks tweeted today (March 21): "Album leaks starting April 15th."

The message comes a week after her UK tour dates were pushed back from March to September.

Banks's Brixton Academy show had originally been scheduled for November 2013.

Frontman says, 'It seems like nobody is rooting for her. But I am.'

Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke has written in defence of Azealia Banks on the day she she said she would leak her album, 'Broke With Expensive Taste'.

It has been three years since Azealia Banks released her debut single '212' and last month she claimed she would leak the album yesterday (April 15). Writing for Noisey, Okereke has reaches out to the divisive rapper. He said: "Don't lose your heart, you still have it in you."

Okereke expressed how sympathetic he is for Banks, and explained his idea of record labels. He stated: "It’s a pretty simple equation, you take their money, you have to do what they say." He added: "From the artists perspective it must be hard. Each time you think you’ve got it nailed you are told to go back and start again."

Kele described how he "literally gagged" when he first heard '212' and added his belief that "if she has made a good record it is very possible that she can claw back a decent platform to make another record when the pressure is off".

Earlier this year Banks slated her label Universal on Twitter, begging another label to get her out of the contract and expressing regret and not having signed with Sony. The New York rapper sent an initial tweet declaring: "I REALLY should have signed with Sony." She quickly followed this up by asking: "Can someone at Sony buy me off of Universal please?? i'm really in hell here."

At the time of writing Banks has not yet leaked her album.

Banks, who just turned 23, recently shot videos for two songs including “Wallace,” which was filmed in front of a green screen in New York.
