I really enjoyed Channel 5's version but on Channel 4 it felt bigger! Can Channel 5 restore BB to its former glory???

Ratings wise, Yes

Although I enjoyed BB12 more than BB8/11/10

I also enjoyed CBB9 more than a couple of the Celebrity versions on C4.

I just think most people got bored of the product and you're only left with die-hards now.

Except for BB10 & BB11, I enjoyed it way more on C4, it never failed to disappoint, and it seemed much more original. It's a bit more tacky on C5 tbh, although I still love it.

The death came with the end of 24/7 live feed c5 finally made the best they could of it at the 3rd attempt but without live feed its still a fail.

I think that Channel 4 obviously will always be the main channel of the show. It was bigger on Channel 4 i think. But Channel 5 are doing their best to restore it.

I think Live Feed will be back this year.

CBB8, BB12 and CBB9 all felt 'bigger' than Big Brother 11 and Big Brother 10 did..

Abit like your personality then, because it clearly has came back when more people talk about it now than they did in the past 3 Years - and that the ratings are decent etc

So take your negativity and stop spurting it about everywhere just because you don't like the new series.

I can give my opinion when someone asks for opinions thank you very much.

The show is no longer around. None of the original concepts still stand. The show is only Big Brother by name and therefore it did die. Big Brother on channel 5 is beyond trash.

I feel Channel 4 let the series down and didn't do much to improve it's standing following the Jade/Shilpa incident.

I think Channel 5 are looking at it as a whole new project and so, I not only hope but think it likely over time that it will improve its ratings on Channel 5 considerably.

Even just watching old clip just makes me think, wow this show used to be so big. It looks like it was an expensive show (excluding BB10, the house+studio+exterior were pathetic)

Well it will be around a while, It had did amazing for channel 5.
Plus its helping sell Magazines ect.
I only read my mums mags or sisters to see big brother stuff or real people stories. :)

Well the only way is up, lets all stay behind the show and hope it improves :)
I do agree with the excitement going, I'm not sure why, maybe its because im getting older... Not sure. :)
But i can honestly say that and IAC is the only reason I watch Tv sometimes :)

Give it 2 more years, and will see what's happened by then.

As far as rebirths go it's doing well. More people I know watched the finale of this year's CBB than did the last 2.

Agreed!...It is no better or worse than it has ever been!...but it is a human trait to look at the past through rose tinted spectacles!
Sure..you get the odd year with superior house-mates,..but even that relies on your personal preferences!
My personal favourite was the Derek, Science and Makosi year, but it is quite understandable that not everyone will agree with me!...Just as in the future , people may look back at the Aaron, Faye and Jay year with great nostalgic affection!...And who's to know what this year's series will bring?

For me...the show itself is just as good as it's ever been!...(and i've seen the lot)...but the spin-off shows are a different kettle of fish altogether !!
...but then, the only one of those that I miss..is Russell Brand's Big Mouth!...the rest have always been dross to me!

Cheers.

It's never gonna feel big again, regardless of the channel it's on.

I mean channel 5 don't help matters with the cheap and tacky production values, and both channels insistence on keeping the trashy side shows (BOTS and BBBM).

But it's been 12 years almost since the show started so all originality is lost, and majority of people have become bored of it. Only the absolute die-hards and the few casual viewers are left.

Nah, BB11 & 12 were similar in terms of HL shows. Obviously one had live feed and the other had a far superior cast but hey.

Either way I'm still new to BB so every series still excites me. Unless it goes bad.

I just want it to be around till I'm old enough to go on the show or at least go to the audition.

it failed when it became a spingboard to zelebrity, hope C5 move away from that to the original format...not that will happen as most see HMs as nothing more than performing seals now judging by CBB9.

I think because Ch4 is more popular than Ch5 it will never feel on top game even though I think both CBB series have been outstanding, especially CBB9.

Marsh.

That's true kizzy.

C5 seem to be furthering the route of putting in housemates who've been recommended from agencies and "talent" scouts. Most likely getting paid too.

Also well never have a cast like bb5. Not because of the actual people but back in the day they showed us everything about everyone, negative and positive. Now they spoon feed us showing us only one dimensions of characters -.-

To be fair to Ch5 I was only ever a casual watcher before the last CBB with Jedward, Kerry etc.

I was absolutely fascinated with Lucien's journey throughout the series. First being completely overwhelmed by his feelings for Amy Childs. Then chilling out and flirting with all the other girls and eventually getting her nicely warmed up but not quite getting there in the end! Oooh and Jedward being asked about girls! AWKWARD!!

Had some great laughs with their first full series (BB12?) With Aaron, Mark, Faye, Wolfpack etc. Mark was just adorable and was my early pick for winner. Aaron's romantic journey with all those pitstops on the way to his great flirting and rollercoaster relationship with Faye was great (far more entertaining than the Jay-Louise one for me)

First time I ever watched all the daily shows. I quite frankly found the live feeds terribly boring esp when they piped in the birdsong over anything controversial. That would drive me nuts! Or watching people sleep at 3am in the moring. No thank you!

I feel that Channel 4 gave up on the format from CBB5/BB* onwards. The adverts previewing the new series of the show were not as epic as the Big Brother Gets Evil theme of 2004 and The Golden Ticket/Twisted theme of 2006.

I remember in particular the advert were Marcus says "10 week summer holiday, not this time". Channel 4 seemed to make every effort to make Big Brother 5 a success and I feel it was the best series of the show to date.

From 2007 onwards we just had previews of the house with 3D animation which gave no indication of what the underlying theme of each series would be. The 2009 one for example with the cries and screams and the futuristic fingerprint eye did not feature the house at all.

Channel 5 have breathed new life in the show and I feel it has a long-term future. CBB9 was the best series of the show for some time and got media attention something that previous series of Channel 4 hadn't.

its ever becoming a 3 ringed circus with 'normal' contestants seen as boring... we demand bigger and better freaks...if your not going to sh@g, throw up, cry, flash, scream or make it evident you have some kind of personality disorder dont bother applying!
And if there ever was a channel to find these people C5 is it, i wouldn't be surprised if BB12 had jars of prozac in every room a minibar at the side of each bed and lube on tap.

Last year was absolutely awful. And they have The Star's attention as Desmond owns that as well. CH5 have gone cheap in every respect, they have hardly changed anything in this CBB compared to the last one for example.

That's the understatement of the year.

I don't think it ever died because it's still on our tv, it's just changing and moving with the times. Everything changes eventually.

Every Channel has a "tone." C4's is a much more sober, less edited documentary style. Channel 5 want flash and glam. As much as I hate it, it's not going to change. And any ratings drops for the main series will be blamed on the show as a whole and not the changes.

All I want is a live feed. Not to watch so much, but just so I know nothing doggy is going on which was rife last year. Everything from random pens to "ipods" were never explained.

Personally I like the tone during the "evil" era which was a hybrid of the current and original. It was half social experiment and half wannabes. Now they have gone too far the other way straight to OK magazine style trash. It's a shame but like I said it won't change. Overdramatic editing style and lense flairs are all over every other realy show out there. BB is just following suit. Which I guess is a shame as the trend setter has now become the follower.

But if it keeps the show on the air then let's see what the summer brings.

Ugh, I hope not. It's what they do on the US show which is why I traded in that for this one.

it did for me. It's become another scripted reality TV show. And the farewell show about it sort of wrapped it up nicely, IMO, it was like digging up a corpse.

I agree with kizzy. It will never, ever happen on C5 but it would do wonders for the program if they really stripped it back to the social experiment it started off as all those years ago. Its gone from what was not only an interesting but frequently entertaining concept to what it is now. I watched an episode of CBB where they had somebody drinking cows piss for ****s sake. Stop aiming for the lowest common denominator and maybe we'll get somewhere.

What have people got against BB11? It was one of the best series! BB died with BB12, live feed for BB13 will resurrect it:)
