Hey, not sure how much interest there'll be for this, but this section of the forum is very quiet right now, so in an attempt to liven it up, how about a Writing Competition? (Have obtained permission to do this)

Here's the Lowdown.

Three Categories are available, you may only choose one for your entry.

Short Story or
Articles of Interest or
Poem/Prose

The Article can contain a poem as well if it's on the same topic.

The first two are self-explanatory and can be on any subject. Articles of Interest - like a newspaper or magazine article on a topical subject, be it media, political, sport, wildlife, anything you think people would like to read about. You may use up to three pictures in your article. All categories will be judged together for one overall winner so choose wisely :)

I'll need a minimum of 5 entries to make it a viable competition but more would be great.

Post in here if you intend to submit an entry, and you have two weeks from today to deliver the finished product. So that'll be the 23rd May. Deadline extended to 30th May.

All entries will be posted in a separate thread with a forum vote to choose a winner. No formal award but I'm sure you will get a mention in the Games Announcements thread if you win :)

I wouldn't go for that really, as it's not a factual piece (rather your opinion) and I don't think it would get votes as such? Could be wrong, but I'd rather it was a factual article if that's what you are going for? :)

An alphabet adventure. You have to navigate your way through the story from A to Z. After each part you will face options, and whichever you choose, go to that letter, unspoiler the section and continue the story.

G One you click on the website you realise to your terror it was a mistake. There is a loud bang on your front door. And once you answer, you are grabbed by the police and handcuffed. I n the trial that follows you get 50 years for piracy.

H Once you get to the toaster it looks more complicated to operate than you imagined, hunger has clouded ur thunkingg, you start to bash it with frustration. You shout at it, then deside to start a fire and use the flames to toast the bread. Once the dining table is alight, you guess this might not have been such a good idea.

I think the Hollyoaks Domestic Violence plot is the best storyline the show has ever done. It was groundbreaking and got me watching the show again.
Emmett Scanlan and Kieron Richardson, who play lovers Brendan and Ste, have a lot of chemistry.

I remember when nightclub manager Brendan Brady first appeared back in 2010. I hated him.
He seemed to have no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
But then he started to talk about his kids and showed his softer side. He was prepared to do anything for them. Him and Ste were both fathers and bonded over their experiences.

Ste started to admire the man. He was so cool and they had so much in common.
The boys grew close as they worked together.
Brendan planned to seduce Ste with the help of some good old Irish Whiskey, but the boy kissed him first and he couldn't handle it. He was horrified and threw him out. Poor Ste ran home all confused. He just couldn't understand why he kissed a guy!

The next day Ste apologized to his boss and they agreed to stay friends. But later that day Brendan followed Ste down the cellar and kissed him. This was the start of a very passionate love affair.

It had to be a secret, because Double B was in the closet and not ready to come out. He hated himself for being gay. He was so disgusted with himself that the next day he hit Ste when he tried to kiss him. They broke up several times because of the man violence, but always got back together.

Ste even had a new boyfriend for a while, but he cheated on him with his bad boy ex!
Last July Brendan finally told Ste he loved him. He promised him things would be different. But then his ex wife came and told him he'd lose the kids if he continued to see Ste. Brendan, scared he'd never see them again, dumped Ste and started dating women.

But things didn't work out and he couldn't get the boy out of his head. The club boss was arrested for murder, but later freed. Ste thought he was guilty and never went to visit him. Brendan felt betrayed by the person he loved the most, so he fired the boy out of anger. The poor lad was furious, but he soon started to look for work.

He decided to buy Cincerity with his good friend Doug Carter, who said some relatives left him some money.
But his mate was lying. He actually borrowed the money from Brendan Brady and kept it secret from Ste.

The boys opened their deli and have been very successful so far. But Doug was starting to have feelings for his friend Ste. They finally kissed, but the boy wasn't ready for a relationship yet. He felt confused and stopped working at the deli. Ste was left to work at the shop all by himself.

Worried Brendan went to see his ex to the deli several times. He told him he was proud of him and he'd always be there for him. How will the story end? Hopefully with a nice big Stendan wedding! I've got my hat ready!
