View Full Version : How much sleep do you need?
How much sleep do you personally need so that you function alright and don't feel all tired and sluggish?
Most nights I only sleep for about 4/5 hours and I feel fine with that, sometimes I do go for a little sleep after dinner though.

9 hours is ideal but I could scrape by on 8, anything less than that and I feel wrong all day

I don't think I've had a sleep that's left me feeling great for a long while. I either go to bed way too late and get up early leaving me knackered or go to bed early, get up late and feel crap. I can't win. Really need to sort my sleeping pattern out this summer.
Normally at least 6 hours, preferably 8 or 9, can be alright after only about 4 hours but normally end up nodding off later in the day

13 hours to be put in a good mood.
Anything less than 8 and I'm ready to cut people up.

Erm, I can function on a few hours (or none sometimes  ) but I tend to be really grumpy when I do that. About 8 hours sorts me out properly...but I need about 10 hours to feel totally refreshed :)

Well, I never usually have my 13 hours sleep
I nearly did today, went to bed at midnight and got up around 12-ish properly.

I also like to set my alarm for an hour or so before I have to be up, and snooze it for the entire hour. The dreams I get inbetween alarms are so vivid and I always remember them. Can usually control what goes on in them too, where thats really hard to do during normal sleep :D

I hate that semi-sleep just before you wake up, stresses me out I don't know why. Just the fading in an out of sleep makes me feel exhausted.

8, 9 if I can get it. I'm not a person who can function on little sleep.

9/8 hours is the ideal amount. I can function on 6/7 hours sleep though, but I yawn a lot when I have to do that.

Probably round 6-8. Usually feel really tired if I don't have much and end up nodding off around 6pm

School nights I usually get about 4 hours in but nap in the afternoon when I get home for anywhere between 1-4 hours.
Weekends I sleep in until about 1pm usually and get 7-9 hours.

About 5 hours. I dunno about less, in situations where I need to wake up in like 4 hours time I normally sleep through my alarm.

Depends. I can survive for days with only 3 or 4 hours.... sometimes I need to play catch up and sleep 8 or 9 hours when I can.
Just depends on how busy life is at any given time.

I can't even remember to breathe unless I have about 10 hours sleep but I keep getting 6 hours on school nights and getting really tired in the day, but I feel awake again in the evening.

As long as I get 6 hours I am fine for the rest of the day, I can't usually sleep past 6 hours though anyway.

I survive most school nights on about 4/5, but end up feeling tired during the day and often come close to actually falling asleep whilst doing some work. Not great really.
Usually catch up at the weekends and whilst it annoys me that I always wake up really late (2pm or later quite often), I always feel much better after. End up with about 10 hours, sometimes 12 if I'm lucky. So I guess it's all a balance kind of thing throughout the week.
