This week saw the start of the bitter battle between Peter Barlow and ex-wife Leanne for custody of little Simon. Now we can reveal that the story will take a dramatic twist this summer as Peter and Carla go to desperate lengths to try and escape the country with Simon when Peter is worried that the custody fight is not going his way - but will Simon be going with them or wil Leanne win the battle to become Simon’s full time mum?

The storyline coincides with Alison King and Chris Gascoyne taking a four month break from the show from this summer to spend time with their families. They will flee the cobbles in July but Carla and Peter fans needn’t worry as Alison and Chris will be back towards the end of the year with an explosive storyline that will have viewers on the edge of their seats.

Well deserved. It's time they gave others more to do. It's been the Carla Connor Show for a couple of years now, not that I mind really.

I adore the character of Carla Connor and Alison King is an amazing Actress and seems a lovely person, but this is the right thing to do for the sake of the character...

Carla has a change of heart about Peter and her taking Simon, so she phones Leanne, there is a big argument but obviously Carla and Peter leave together.

It is so obvious that Carla will come back to find Leanne shacked up with her brother, so there is more drama (just me speculating), unless he phones to tell her that while she is away:p.

He won't get with Leanne, it's more than likely gonna be Michelle.

That would be good and the dynamic would work or even with Maria as both women are close to Carla!
