View Full Version : Deana back as Bookies Favourite Again!!!

She's overtaken Luke A pushing him back into second place again.
I had a feeling this would happen once she'd survived last night's eviction and i think the boos she got will probably be a good thing to get her back on target.

The WIN is now Deana's for sure!!! Woot, WOOT!!!!!:elephant::dance:

Good, the bookies favourite very rarely wins these days

Deana's going to win, absolutely no doubt about it.

This is not actually a good thing - leads to favorite fan complacency and rival fans making more effort on voting. Favorites have often lost

Denise was 3rd favourite to win behind Gareth
and Frankie
Aaron was 2nd favourite behind Alex
Paddy was 3rd favourite to win behind Jedward
and Kerry
Ulrika was 4th favourite to win behind everyone
bar Ben
Rachel was 2nd favourite to win behind Michael
Brian was 2nd favourite to win behind Samanda
Bez was 2nd favouritw to win behind Kenzie

Not true in the days leading up to final Alex was fav. Hence the shock when she only managed third behind Jay and obv Aaron

Alex was bookies fav by quite alot
Jay&Aaron swapped places at around 3-1
Alex had like 11/8 for the last week

Bookies arw not that good at setting odds for reality compared to sport. Plus it also depends how much money goes on. LukeS is about 33-1 ie no chance, but if someone bets crazy money eg £1000 his odds will tumble evrn though in reality he hasnt done anything more entertaining. Its better to be close 2nd or 3rd favourite.

11-08-2012, 03:39 PM
So maybe Aaron wasn't the favourite then.

..............but Deana IS going to win!!!!!

I'd actually be equally happy with Adam winning but i just don't know if he's quite got the numbers.
I do really like Luke A but he's been pretty much an extra in the outsiders, a supporting act, not the star.

Also think BB misinterprets HM popularity in a too simplistic way. If Scott had stayed then hed be made a 2 or 3 favorite - even though like Tom last year hes a camp likeable guy but has no fanbase.

JTM45
11-08-2012, 03:44 PM
I think Alex was basically (voting-wise) last years equivalent of Scott.
Everyone was so sure that she had all of this massive support that just didn't materialize when it was needed.

I really think Scott thought he had it in the bag this year (he had a massive gameplan!) but while a lot of people liked him they all thought that his hardcore supporters had his back in the voting and they just didn't exist in the end.

Not necessarily. Alex looked a forgone conclusion bookies fav by far...only third. The big problem is what I call the "likeable ghost" HM: the HM that nobody hates, everyone thinks is likeable, BB tries to promote them as a 'pet fav', odds to win tumble but they still lose. This applies to Scott and last year Tom n Alex.

With Deana her votes will come msinly from hee fanbase. Not casual viewers who prefer LukeA -who has a megafanbase of his own - Adam and Sara. A poor edit will affect her the most, this last week she may not have lost too many fans but would not have gained many. The big winner was LukeS who people feel sorry for.

If LukeS and Sara are evicted first most of their votes will go to Adam n LukeA. Deana will have to rely on her fanbase voting like mad. Deana is no way as popular as Aaron last year and has tougher competition her 2 pals. Plus theres the lack of FB voting of which benefiited her the most due to her more globally diverse appeal. Deana could easily end up 2nd or even 3rd.

In VTS era its harder to sit on fence, fly under radar and then gain support.

If you're a HM and you get into rows, retaliate against bitching, take a stance people will identify with you, become interested and engage defend and support you and therefore vote for you. Deana has been the most 'involved in SLs' HL this year, hence her support.

Scotts done bugg*r else besides rapscallion and hair styles so BBOTS has to go on and on about these. He twigged after Saras mums nomination that he was wallpaper and became camper and more contrived in DR. Even Caz in Dish on Side said this.

God knows why Alex was fav last year - she was one of the worst HMs out of that bunch and soooo boring.

Quite clearly, this is because of her hate for Fat Nat.

Jay was never the favourite to win.

Just one hour before the final; Alex had odds of 10/11, Aaron had odds of 6/4 and Jay had odds at 6/4.

Why is it that last week when Deana was fav, all her fans were shouting from the rooftops. Then she went second fav and the bookies were tossers and clueless. Now she is fav again and all of a sudden the bookies are the all powerful Oracle again. I cant understand some of these people that change their views like others change their underpants.

Yes, because this actually happened.

I don't think I've ever given a toss about bookies odds.

I never take them into account. Shanaze was 100% getting us a gold medal in the BMX the other day and she came 6th... never pay attention tbh.

No, it doesn't really. I have always prefered my favourites not to be bookie favourites as it feels like it jinxes their chance of winning.

It doesn't matter who has been topping votes or not or been bottom of the pile. Look at Jay last year, almost a goner in some evictions, yet second in the final, because that is when the votes matter, and casual viewers might decide to vote, plus some wait to see if their favourites make the final before shelling out on votes in the final only, so that is why the final can be harder to predict the winner in some cases.

Jay was for 3 days post- Mark. I remember being shocked as I wanted Jay evicted. Then he was fav for a few days after Harry left. Sad that I rememer this sh*te.lol

Suz, I agree id prefer my favs not to be bookies fav. Plus alot of fans wait til final to see if their HM makes it. Sara i feel comes into this category. She could cause an upset as a ) noone knows how well she did when Caz went b ) she topped FB poll c ) she will get Scottish vote d ) she will get Insider / anti- Deana vote.

Yes Aaron wasn't favourite to win last year, but you have to bear in mind that last year was the first time "vote to save" had been brought in, so bookies we're still gettin to grips with that format. They couldnt get their heads around Aaron having such a large fanbase, yet getting boo's every week. I think this year, bookies have worked out that people like Aaron and Deana can go far, and win.
This is why Deana is favourite/joint favourite with the bookies this year.

Vote to save has always been used for the fiinals of BB though. Vote to evict was only used leading up to the final.

I know this.

I'm just saying, under a vote to evict policy, people like Aaron and Deana wouldn't have made the final.

Therefore liked, yet hated housemates, like those 2, make it to the final these days, and the bookies don't know how to handle it.

Scott was easy to live with so he was not nominated. Unfortunately that oes not translate to votes.
Closing down Facebook could influence the result. No cheap voting so it is going to cost people to vote.

It is mainly based on the amount of money people put on bets yeh. But they do keep an eye on the show too I'd imagine, they'd be mad not too with thousands of pounds at stake.

I can't get my head around the amount of money some people are willing to part with to be proved right. If Deana wins, a week from now it will be Deana who? and a lot of peoples wallets will be much lighter. :joker:

The bookies were wrong last year as i remember, alex was fave and went 3rd, people only vote on the day of the final and in the final show when they know who's in the final. I have a feeling Adam will win, i had a feeling Aaron would win last year and he did, it will go when i watch the show tonight i'll be so nervous but i'll be very happy if he wins tonight, i don't want Deana to win. I have no idea why people like her so much, she is funny but annoying as well.

Yes, big personalites generally get evicted on VTE which is why Deana and Aaron would be very different characters in VTE I suspect :spin:

Also because Sara's odds are a bit longer less people will put serious money on her winning so the bookies will turn a profit if she wins. It's basically in bookies interest if anyone other than Deana or LukeA wins
