unless it's a sporting event, nobody's going to be that urgent about watching it live any more

2010 will be it's peak, downhill from then on.
I enjoy it so much more without Cheryl, last years series was great.

US X Factor > UK X Factor
I decided to watch the opening show and it was so 'meh'. They really should bring back closed auditions where it's just the judges and the auditionee(s), the audience are also starting to turn into the channel 5 BB mob.
It was the worst opening show to date

I already made a thread on this and, yeah, it's shocking to see it so low but it's only the launch. I'll be interested in seeing how it continues to fare throughout the series.
They need Simon and Sharon to come back
Well.. looks to me as if it should be cancelled.
Those 8.1 million people should just f off. They don't deserve it

Woah that's almost Voice levels of low.
The audition shows are just the same thing every year and quite boring now, only really interested in the live shows

No, arista, it's 8.1 million. Not horrendous or anything but you can't round off figures to the nearest ten. If 5 million had tuned into the auditions you could round off that to 10 million - as opposed to the 10.8m and 12m who watched in 2011 and 2010 respectively?

They should bring back closed auditions.. right now at this point of the show it's too similar to BGT, no wonder people are getting tired of it.
^ yes closed auditions were the best :worship:

8m is hardly what I'd consider a flop, it's still up there with the highest rated shows of the week. Not to mention people are tired of the audition stage format now.

three 'decent' acts....the rest were awful. As much as mel B annoyed by trying to be Simon Cowell, she was actually right in that most of them were crap. X factor is limping along, surely the end is nigh....

As long as it doesn't drop any further and actually has there best acts not being sabotaged or missing for half the series like last year then it should be fine.

It's still a success. But it was better when Simon was there. :spin:

How can anyone say that The X Factor is a flop? It's one of the UK's biggest shows. The day it launched was the hottest day of the year.. so yeah, a couple of million people who might usually watch, decided that they'd make the most of the weather. Doesn't mean they're not going to watch it. There is such a thing called ITV Player, and most people record things now anyway. This weekend (where I am) isn't anywhere near as hot, and I think the ratings will be higher. It also got quite good reviews, and no one can deny.. the talent on that show was fantastic. I predict this Saturday will get over 9 mil (just missing the 10 mil mark). From there I think ratings will get better each week, and compared to other series, this will be considered one of the best ever. We shall see...
