View Full Version : Was You A Nintendo, Sega or Playstation Guy?
Jake.

Back in the days of golden gaming, most had one comsole and stuck to it, until the next generation came out. Was you a fan of Nintendo (who had the NES, SNES, N64), Sega (which made the Master System, MegaDrive and Saturn) or Sony (who, at the time of the N64 and Saturn, only had PS)?

I started off with Nintendo(NES), then got Sega Genesis, then back to Nintendo 64.

I have most of them in a box somewhere

I mean when i was a kid, that's order i had them. We had Sega Genesis instead of Super Nintendo. All of my friends had sega too. I didn't know anyone that had a super nintendo.
Then we got Nintendo 64, and played Mario Kart and Goldeneye all the time.

For me nothing will beat the era of Snes/MegaDrive :idc: the best rivalry in video gaming history, both had such fantastic games aswell.

I'm assuming Megadrive is what they called Genesis in the UK.

Also i had a sega Game Gear, which was the sega version of Game Boy. When i was growing up Sega was way cooler than Nintendo.
But yea, then N64 came out, and totally destroyed Sega.
Jake.
06-09-2012, 11:04 AM
My aunt had a Saturn and I used to love that  but it never got a following really, Sega ****ed it up with the Saturn and pissed off alot of video-game companies, meaning it didn't do well. The DreamCast was doing okish, but then the PS2 came along.

I have one of those somewhere lol. Got it a good few years back at a boot fair. But I grew up with my yellow brick Gameboy, and that was my childhood :loved: Mario Land 2/Pokemon > Life

It destroyed everything. XBox only sold a little more than the Gamecube (and I loved the Gamecube) whilst the Dreamcast just lost any form of momentum when the PS2 arrived. Shame, it was such an advanced and cool console.

Gawd, i remember back when there were still Blockbuster rental stores everywhere, and on Friday nights, my mom would let us rent 2 movies and 1 video game lol. That was always the rule. and of course my brother and I would argue about which game to get. and we'd bargain with each other, if you let me pick this week, you get to choose next week. Gawd, bringing back soooo many memories. lol i'm feeling all nostalgic now :(
Jake.
06-09-2012, 11:12 AM
All of this is bringing back memories  I remeber going to my nan and grandads house in Weymouth, and she had a Megadrive and a box full of games. Anybody else ever play Talmits Adventure? (Marvel Land in the US)

Jake.

Yes! I have that one  I also have one called McDonalds kids or something, another Mario clone. The best game on the NES was Mario 3, platforming perfection

Yes, Mario 3 was amazing. I remember when it first came out you had to be on a waiting list to get it. and this one kid at school had it, and he brought in the booklet from it, and he was the most popular guy in school for like 2 weeks. I was soo jealous.
It was such a good game though,. I love the Koopa kids!
Lemmy Koopa is sooo cute.

 I used to love the attention to detail in old manuals, especially Mario ones. Getting the racoon tail for the first time was just amazing. I remeber I used to play it with my nan when I was about 3, and only player 1 could pause the game, so I used to be player 1 just to wind her up lol. Mario 2 was good, but not in the same league.
I just had a PS1, Sonic on the Dreamcast though >

wasn't Mario All-stars just a complilation of the original 3 Marios?
Zelda: Link to the Past was awesome on SNES though. All of the Zelda games are Amazing. I have them all on my Wii from the downloadable games on Wii. Ocarina of Time is amazing too. We had an N64 when i was younger but we never had that game, but i got it on wii, and it's awesome.
Madora's Mask is the only one i don't like, because i don't like games that have a time limit.

In Mario Party, certain minigames required players to rotate the controller's analog stick. Some players allegedly got blisters, friction burns and lacerations from rotating this stick using the palms of their hands instead of using their thumb. The stick also tended to wear away because it was not very durable.
Although no lawsuits were filed, around 90 complaints were received by New York's attorney general's office and Nintendo of America eventually agreed to a settlement, which included providing gloves for anyone who had hurt their hand(s) while playing the game and paying the state's $75,000 legal fees. At the time, providing gloves for the estimated 1.2 million users of the game who might have been affected could have cost Nintendo up to $80 million.
The analog stick rotation has been used sparingly since Mario Party 2, and Mario Party was not re-released for the Virtual Console. Nintendo skipped it and instead re-released Mario Party 2. Although planned for a Virtual Console release, it was dropped because of the controversy caused by the analog stick rotation gameplay mechanic.

Shaun
06-09-2012, 05:31 PM
I've had all three at one point...
93: SNES
96: N64
98: PSOne
00: Dreamcast
01/2: PS2
then got nothing else really until
11: PS3
My sister had the Xboxes and a Wii so we've seen everything come and go really, but the consoles and games I enjoyed the most were either on the Nintendo 64, the SNES or the PS2. I'd have to say Nintendo edges it for me if you include the Gameboy as well.

I've had a bunch of different consoles over the years:
-1997/98/99 - PS1 (can't remember when).
-2000 - PS2.
-2003 - GameCube.
-2007 - Wii.
-2009 - PS3.
-2011 - Xbox 360.
So I've got all three now. My favourite of them all was probably the PS1. I loved Spyro so much.
