It grew on me as expected but I still don't think it's a patch on Rated R or GGGB. There are some really weak songs on there like Birthday Cake and Cockiness which just grate on me with every listen. I do love the title track and Where Have You Been though.

Lol so Rihanna was called the "ultimate n8gga b8tch" in a "legitimate" dutch article is it? Lol. because cultures are mixing so much these days some people think it's now acceptable to say anything they want lol.
Rihanna responded via twitter:
" “@evajackie I hope u can read English, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000′s of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That’s your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past!

“You put two words together, with the intent of abasement, that made no sense…”N—A B—H”?!….Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you…F–K YOU!!!”

.................

not to mention ri ri encontered another form of racism in portugal when some random told her balck women aren't ****. aw thanks dude

Rihanna's "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris, remains atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a milestone 10th total week at the summit.

The song, which already represents Rihanna's longest stay at No. 1 on the Hot 100, becomes one of just 11 boasting a solo female lead billing to have ruled for at least 10 weeks in the tally's 53-year history. "Love" is the first such leader since Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" logged 10 weeks on top in 2006-07.

Rihanna and Chris Brown Secretly Still Together?

Here is the complete list of songs by women to achieve strangleholds of at least 10 frames on the Hot 100 (including two tracks in which other acts share lead credit and one in which two women trade lead vocals):

Weeks at No. 1, Title, Artist, Peak Year
16, "One Sweet Day," Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, 1995 (*the longest reign of any title in the chart's history)
14, "We Belong Together," Mariah Carey, 2005
14, "I Will Always Love You," Whitney Houston, 1992
13, "The Boy Is Mine," Brandy & Monica, 1998
11, "I'll Be Missing You," Puff Daddy & Faith Evans featuring 112, 1997
11, "Un-Break My Heart," Toni Braxton, 1996
10, "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris, 2011 (to-date)
10, "Irreplaceable," Beyonce, 2006
10, "Foolish," Ashanti, 2002
10, "Physical," Olivia Newton-John, 1981
10, "You Light Up My Life," Debby Boone, 1977

"Love" maintains its Hot 100 dominance by spending a ninth week atop Radio Songs (150 million audience impressions, down 1%, according to Nielsen BDS), while slipping 4-6 on Digital Songs (140,000 downloads sold, down 24%, according to Nielsen SoundScan).

"Love" holds off Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain," which burns a path from No. 4 to No. 2 on the Hot 100 with top Airplay Gainer honors for a second consecutive week, as it crackles 12-5 on Radio Songs (92 million, up 26%).

Never thought WFL would be this successful. :D

This album is brilliant, much better than Rated R but not better than Loud and probably within the same league as GGGB. Even though its been 3 months I'm still addicted to every song and haven't become sick of them.
Standout tracks for me:
-You Da One
-Talk That Talk
-Watch N Learn
-Cockiness
-Birthday Cake
-Do Ya Thang

I do like Where Have You Been but I don't like the bit of music after the chorus :suspect:

Songs I don't like from the album
-Drunk On Love
-We All Want Love (quite boring)

Plus I'm sad that there's a lack of nice R&B ballads in this album similar to Hate That I Love You :(

Rated R's reviews and critical reception:

http://i1021.photobucket.com/albums/af335/PhotoNiall/ScreenShot2012-02-18at182701.png

Rated R received positive reviews from most music critics.

Chicago Sun-Times writer Jim DeRogatis noted a maturity from Rihanna, calling it her "best, most layered and most heartfelt effort". NME's Ailbhe Malone called it "a startlingly masculine record – in sound and in attitude". Ed Potton of The Times gave it four out of five stars and described it as "By turns syrupy and strident, part lament, part tooled-up revenge fantasy... the best record Rihanna has made".

From Wikipedia. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rated_R_(Rihanna_album)#Critical_response)

TTT's critical reception:

http://i1021.photobucket.com/albums/af335/PhotoNiall/ScreenShot2012-02-18at182844.png

"Behind Good Girl Gone Bad and Rated R, this is Rihanna's third best album to date. Minus the fluff, it's close to the latter's equal." - Andy Kellman from Allmusic.

Jason Lipshutz of Billboard also gave the album a positive review, but commented on its feeling of having been "rushed". "After reclaiming her crown on Loud... Rihanna is not about to take any sort of break to let her pop princess competitors catch up" He also said, "[Talk That Talk is] an oddly rushed-out release to the objective music fan. Why not wait a bit and let the buzz of Loud set in?." Matthew Cole from Slant Magazine gave the album 2.5 stars out of 5, saying it is "pretty easily the worst Rihanna album yet, though I wouldn't be surprised to see her break that record next November"

Hardly flopped. Russian Roulette went #1 UK and Top 10 US, Hard went Top 10 US and Rude Boy was a #1 in the US for months and peaked at #2 over here for weeks, too. Te Amo also got her another UK Top 20. It was certified Gold in the UK after just four days and has since gone on to become a 2xPlatinum record over here.

Rated R is a masterpiece. It's dark, edgy, emotional. LOUD, on the other hand, is a hot mess. It has a couple of good songs (OG, S&M, WMN, Cheers, Man Down), but the rest is just annoying.

Rihanna is currently working on her next album, whilst staying in London.

The singer, who is set to preform at tomorrow night's BRIT Awards, has reportedly set up temporary recording studio in the capital.

Rihanna told fans over Twitter: "Brit rehearsal went smoove! Next stop, set up studio in a hotel room. Brits rehearsal was #FAWESOME I'll be turning 24 making mu$ic!!! (sic)"

Meanwhile, Rihanna's new track 'Birthday Cake' could feature former boyfriend Chris Brown, it has been reported.
It has been announced that the singer will release a full-length version of the track, taken from recent album 'Talk That Talk'.

The singer has now revealed that the extended of the track will feature a guest star.

Co-producers Da Internz told MTV News: "We got the Rihanna 'Birthday Cake' coming out in a week.

"It's gonna be crazy. And the feature on there is gonna shock the world."

She doesn't understand the concept of quality over quantity does she?

Why she insists on rushing a new album out every year, rushes through a bunch of singles in a short space of time and then onto the next album is beyond me.

But then again when you don't write the songs yourself or put anything personal into it I suppose it's easy to do.

But I for one, whilst I did like her, am absolutely sick to the back teeth of her.

Daily Mail:Rihanna thanks ex Chris Brown after disgraced singer wishes her happy birthday on Twitter

Chris Brown tweeted his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, who turned 23 today, a happy birthday message - and she responded.
The singer - who assaulted the songstress three years ago - sent a message referring to her by her real name Robyn.
Rihanna - who turned 24 today - retweeted the message from Brown, saying: 'Thanks! RT @chrisbrown: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBYN!'

The Daily Mail (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2103788/Rihanna-thanks-ex-Chris-Brown-disgraced-singer-wishes-happy-birthday-Twitter.html?ito=feeds-newsxml) are so stupid LOL.

Song is OK.

RE Rihanna she has obviously forgiven him for beating her up and it is her business despite what people think, although this may lead to a backlash for her but again it is her choice to be friends with him etc.

Some people will say she is setting a bad example etc when it is not her job to be a role model to kids and never intended to be one, although victims of domestic violence will have every right to be pissed off.

Z
21-02-2012, 03:40 AM
But bbfan1991, being a role model isn't a person's job. And by that I mean that role models are regular people who get that title attached to them without asking for it. Rihanna is a global superstar, and therefore someone who is looked up to by many people, whether she likes it or not. She lost her right to do whatever she likes the day she decided to try and become a famous singer. Whether she likes it or not, everything she does is scrutinised by the media and everything she does has consequences. Being the victim of domestic abuse, and going back to her abuser, gives off such a negative message to impressionable minds that I can't even begin to comprehend how she, or anyone she works with, could have let this happen. In fact, I am mostly just disappointed at the people who work around her. It's very common for victims of abuse to go back to their abusers because of that honeymoon period of "but they've changed!" Other people should have seen through that. Who actually gave this idea the green light?! They had better have one hell of a marketing strategy to try and change the minds of all the people who saw those photographs of that poor woman's beaten face into thinking that, hey, Chris Brown isn't actually all that bad a guy.

Oh, and, the song is ****. Utter ****ing ****. I am so angry at this entire situation, and also at myself for even being shocked that this happened. There just isn't a limit to how low the music industry will go, is there? I hope this is the end of Rihanna's spell of popularity around the world. She has done the single most stupid thing a woman in her position could have ever done. I don't care how much they try to portray it as "she's forgiving her abuser" - no, she's playing into his hands by giving him his career back. She's rewarding him for being a persevering little ****. **** you Chris Brown and **** you Rihanna for being used again.

Great post, agree with everything you've said.

I hope this is where the backlash of Rihanna begins and that the general public boycott her music. It's bad enough that she releases half arsed albums every year and has a new single out every other week but this is pushing it too far. This is such an idiotic decision on behalf of Rihanna and her management, this should never have been allowed to happen. Clearly she is surrounded by all the wrong people. She has a responsibility as a role model to a lot of young girls and she goes and does this. Just disgraceful. :bored:

Locke.

A genius decision to have Chris on the remix from a commercial point of view, a bad one from a personal point of view.

It will probably do well, but she'll only have herself to blame if he does something else to her again

bbfan1991
21-02-2012, 04:20 AM
Good post Zee, you make points that are so true but Rihanna has made that choice and she has never been one to care what people think apart from her fans (which some of them will probably disagree with her on this) so...

Z
21-02-2012, 04:21 AM
I don't even think it's a smart idea commercially. Any radio station that plays this will undoubtedly be accused of supporting domestic abuse in some way, and from what I can tell, fans of both of them are appalled by the collaboration and are boycotting them in their droves. Chris Brown fans hate Rihanna for ruining his reputation; Rihanna fans hate Chris Brown for doing what he did to her. The two of them are taking the piss out of their fans for doing this.

\Radios are refusing to play Rihanna. Jay-Z has parted ways with her. Her new single, Talk That Talk, featuring Jay is about to be pulled from the radios today. Her record company is meeting with her to talk about possibly ending the era because she went behind her team's back to do the remixes with Chris Brown. And on top of that Armani dropped her from the campaign.

obviously should be taken with a pinch of salt, but still

Found this on another forum

1. Roc Nation tweeted links to the remixes.
2. Talk That Talk to still is being played. Been hearing it all day on z100.
3. Jay Z ain't dumb enough to drop his biggest artists.
4. Armani doesn't care about stuff like this. They put too much money into it.

Looks like it's not true.

I don't care how much they try to portray it as "she's forgiving her abuser" - no, she's playing into his hands by giving him his career back.

Um, his career never went anywhere? :conf: I mean sure, his reputation suffered, but his music success didn't really change.

-He hasn't had a #1 single since Kiss Kiss in the US
-Between 2009-2012, he has only had one top ten single on the Billboard Hot 100
-He hasn't had a top 5 hit since 2008
-F.A.M.E. sold 700K in the US, and Graffiti sold only 300K in the US. Compare this to his first two albums which were released before he beat up Rihanna, they sold 2 million and 1.9 million respectively. So saleswise he is going down.

His music success has changed massively as you can see.

-Kiss Kiss was one of only two #1 singles and was two years before the incident. So it's not like Chris Brown not having a #1 single is any different
-Look at Me Now was #6 and he had three other singles in the top 20
-F.A.M.E. hit #1, something his other albums haven't done, so you can't say it wasn't a success
-Graffiti sucked, but was that due to the Rihanna incident or being just a bad album? Without the Rihanna incident it still would've flopped
-Since you seem to be so about the charts, let's look at this. On the US R&B, two #1s and 9 in the top 10 before the incident. After the incident, two #1s and 6 in the top 10, with another hitting at #11.

That's a joke if you think his success has changed massively. In fact, it's hardly changed at all. You just used certain figures to help your point. Chris Brown's still a big name in the music industry. Perhaps things are a little down from his first album or two, but doesn't that happen to all artists? The brand new "shiny" appeal wears off after a while, but he's still producing songs that people still listen to.

And also GGGB had very similar success to Loud.

hmmm maybe, but gggb era happened before the incident and it was huge, and rated r which was released right after the incident didn't do really well.

Exactly. Umbrella was number 1 for 10 weeks over here and GGGB was certified 6x Platinum over here and it was number 1 for 2 weeks. She's always been successful over here. The assault didn't make her any more popular.

Yes, but would Rated R have done as well as it did over here if she hadn't been assaulted? no

It didn't exactly do that well. Peaked at no. 9 and only certified 2 x Platinum with 600k+ copies sold. It would have done well regardless IMO because she was already big in the UK following Umbrella's huge 10 week reign at #1.

Oh well despite the songs, it'll prove to be a bad move but I still like her:).

She has the responsibility of being a role model to her fans but just because people say she shouldn't associate with CB doesn't mean she will listen, she is an adult and has her own choices whether right or wrong and most of the GBP like a I told you so attitude with celebrities anyway;).

"Now that Rihanna is hooking up with Chris and recording songs with him, Jay is deeply disappointed in her actions. He can't fathom why Rihanna is doing the things she is doing."

The source added: "He understands the need for forgiveness, but he is adamant that Rihanna shouldn't forget what Chris did to her.

"Jay wonders what kind of message this is sending to Rihanna's young female fans. Rihanna knows how Jay feels about Chris, but she doesn't care, she is going to do what she wants."

The insider added: "He is even more protective of the women in his life. Jay has told Rihanna he will never give his blessing for what she is doing with Chris. He has told her, this isn't going to end well, it never does. In Jay's opinion, Chris has rage issues that he doesn't think have been dealt with."

Rihanna and her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown have allegedly been secretly hooking up, which is said to have left her close friend and mentor Jay-Z "deeply disappointed".

The 24-year-old pop beauty collaborated with the R&B star - who was convicted for assaulting the Russian Roulette singer in 2009 - on her latest single Birthday Cake and the pair have reportedly rekindled their romance.

"Now that Rihanna is hooking up with Chris and recording songs with him, Jay is deeply disappointed in her actions. He can't fathom why Rihanna is doing the things she is doing."

That was all said after Rihanna tweeted her though wasn't it? Can't blame her for being angry/upset by her comments, what she originally tweeted to her wasn't offensive, it's what a lot of the world are thinking and there was no need for Rihanna to be so nasty to that girl who I presume was a fan. She shouldn't treat fans like that.

Rihanna and Chris Brown have reportedly been tipped to duet on American Idol.

The ex-couple have allegedly been approached by producers for what would be their first performance together since Brown assaulted her in 2009.

"They want Chris and Rihanna to reunite on the show," E! quotes an American Idol source as saying.

The idea is believed to be in the early stages of discussion, while a source close to Rihanna told Gossip Cop that there is no truth to the rumour.

The chris/rihanna songs suck. I'm glad it's being overshadowed by brown being a dick again and snatching someone's phone. Mwhuaha, rihanna is stoopid and they both think they're royalty. I hope the rumours of jayz manufacturing a new princess are true so rihanna can calm down a bit with all the "u mad? #webad" crap :bored:

If they wanted to be talked about maybe bringing a song with a positive message like forgiveness, or moving on, recognizing mistake or something relevant to their past, instead of a song about f8cking, people would have responded more positively. Big thumbs down.
