View Full Version : Why does Christopher always get the pimp slot in the Overs category?

As we all know that this year being on early is the advantage due to the phone lines being open from the start, yet we've never seen Christopher have a late slot yet while Kye, Melanie, and Carolynne have all been on late, Kye in particular is going into the 4th week and has never had an early time slot.
Is anyone with me thinking that it's a disgrace?
The opening slot is still the worst slot, so yes it is a disgrace

I didn't really mind him before but after his performance on Saturday night and the number of stories about how rude he is backstage, he irritates me

Having the opening slot this year is like being on last.:joker:

He has one of the worst spots yet is still most likely topping the vote, amazing work.

most people do not vote intill the show ends, so being first is still a bad spot

yeah, actually the later slots are the better ones, first out can be a death sentence, especially in the early stages when there are still a lot of acts so I wouldn't say he's been favoured tbf.
He'll not go anywhere for a while, all the sob story crap he put on throughout auditions and judges houses is still carrying him. :bored:

This year only MK1 have had an early slot and smashed the bottom two, all the other acts when they've hit the bottom two have been on late, or in Melanie's case on last which in any other year would have saw Melanie through.

It's pretty obvious that the first few on are the new pimp slots and that last on is the death slot for most of the acts. In general the whole field is wide open though now and that's why opening the lines before they've performed is a much better idea, it's a lot fairer and slots don't matter as much anymore.
To answer your question, no I don't think it's a disgrace...but his performance on Saturday just made me laugh. I seriously can't get the 'Christopher Baloney' thing out of my head now whenever I watch him, it's more camp than Rylan. I don't mind him though.
Nowhere near as many people will vote during the show based on early performances as the number of people who will vote over the next 24 hours when the last acts are the most fresh in their mind
The Last is always going to be the best spot because it's always the one that sticks in people's head the most after the show, don't think it really matters when the phone lines open as most people will vote after they have heard everyone anyway

I seriously doubt that voting peaks when the show is off-air, I expect it peaks on Sunday night after the previous night's highlights and numbers recap, and that voting is also considerably high during Saturday's show. For the casual viewer I honestly can't see them bothering to vote in the early hours of Sunday morning, or later on in Sunday afternoon...to be honest I don't think I've ever done that, I've only voted when one of the shows are on.
Acts who have been first on in the last few weeks have been safe and in previous series (especially on the first live show) whoever has been on first has found themselves in the bottom two, for that not to happen is practically unheard of so there has definitely been an effect by opening them at the start of Saturday's show. I also expect voting for each act peaks right after their performance. Let's not kid ourselves, most people already have a favourite and are going to vote for them regardless (if they're a regular voter that is), I'm seriously dubious about the idea of people voting based off that night's performances anymore - I expect those who do that are few and far between and do so more in the latter stages (semi-final, final).
If an act has just performed and you liked their performance, a lot of people are going to vote straight away. And I really do expect that to be the case with acts who receive a lot of support on Twitter from people who are socially active online (the boybands, Ella, Lucy, James etc), with their fans rushing straight to vote before they've even performed, during and immediately after their performance.
The new system has thrown things completely up in the air and I think it's been a positive change.

The nature of the competition means everybody has to have a slot people whinge either way and use it as an excuse. They should just draw it out of a hat but i dont doubt someone will find something else to whinge about.

I could think of a shocker, why don't they stick with a voting system and even the time slots out fairly? that way nobody can whinge then as you simply put it.

Yes, if it was true about him being rude to staff, I was very disappointed with him. I liked him.

We don't know that being on early is a pimp slot - at all. There's been three live shows so far and the resullts have been varied as to who's in the bottom 2, so, if anything, there's no pimp slot, nor death slot anymore

The only act that's been on early and hit the bottom two is MK1, so yes being on late is the death slot now Apple.

There's only been three live shows so you can hardly say that for sure..
