The X Factor 2012′s winner’s single will be released for charity, it’s been claimed.

The usual annual charity record, featuring all of the finalists, has been scrapped.

Last year saw the final 16 acts collaborate on a cover of Wish On A Star for the charity Together for Shorter Lives.

This year instead, show bosses hope to encourage sales of this year’s eventual winner’s single by donating profits to a charity.

“We do a charity record every year but the current thinking is we should just make that the winner’s single,” a source told the newspaper. “It would make loads of cash for charity and it will bring festive cheer back to the Christmas No1.

“Obviously there are people who would like to give Simon a bloody nose. Well, this way all they’ll be doing is starving a charity of cash if they campaign against it. Nothing has been decided for definite but everyone is very keen on the idea.”

This year’s winner’s single will be released just after the winner is crowned at the show’s live final in Manchester on December 9.

It wouldn't be a problem if the single was actually a Christmas song.

But the final is on the 9th December is it not, so it won't be released in the Christmas #1 week?

But yeah this...dunno why they're so determined to have the Christmas #1 every year. Isn't it just enough that it gets to #1 in the first place.

Clever for the producers I guess, accomplishes two things:
1) Will be easier to beat the X Factor protest songs
2) Inflates sales of the winner, making them look more popular than they actually are
