X Factor contestant Jahmene Douglas has reportedly refused to perform a Katy Perry song on the ITV reality show this weekend as it glorifies drinking alcohol to excess.

The contestants were due to perform Perry's single 'Last Friday Night' as a group during this Sunday's results show (November 18). However, Douglas is alleged to have refused to perform the song, which has lyrics such as: "I smell like a minibar, DJ's passed out in the yard" and "Yeah we danced on tabletops, and we took too many shots, think we kissed but I forgot."

Speaking to The Sun, an un-named source claimed that the programme makers are trying to find a replacement song: "Bosses are desperately trying to find a new song for this weekend’s group ensemble after Jahmene’s refusal. The six remaining acts were supposed to perform Last Friday Night but Jahmene has said no."

The source added: "The song is about partying and drinking and Jahmene is teetotal. He has made it clear from the start that he won’t sing songs about drinking and when he heard this track he was adamant he wouldn’t perform it...Bosses have respected his wishes and it’s all hands on deck to get a new song ready in time for Sunday."

'Last Friday Night' is taken from Perry's 2010 album 'Teenage Dream' and features a video which sees Perry hosting a big house party and drinking until she passes out. Hanson, Kenny G, Corey Feldman, Debbie Gibson and Rebecca Black all guest star in the promo.

Goodness me.

It'd be a stupid song for his voice anyway, although I guess he needs to do an upbeat song at some point.

It was only for the group performance, so he'd only have a few words

He was fine singing Owl City last week though which obviously has 'alcohol relatedness' in the song... hmmm

Good on him.

Thought this was a "Guilty Pleasures" song as it is mine :(

Respect to him for standing up for his views like that, tbh, as much as I disagree with him.

Don't see why people should respect him, he's just being overly pedantic and caused a lot of hassle to the other contestants and to the producers because of it, I'm sure if it was that big a deal they'd have been happy to let him sing some non alcohol related lyrics

If it's true then he's a dick for making everyone else's lives harder.

Lol it's not like he was being forced to sing about murdering puppies, he's a complete dullard. I hope one of the others now refuse to sing a 'diva' song now Jahmene has his own way.

Though tbh it's an awful song for him

I like that he has principals and his own beliefs, however as it's the groups song I think he needs to be aware of others not just himself,...he could have left the bulk of the singing to the rest of them and just sang one line or something.

This, Jahmene is a diva clearly.

I love him even more now. It's not easy to stand up for your beliefs when you are the only one who feels that way. Good for him. Note: the producers 'respected his decision' - they could have done the song anyway and left him out of it but they obviously felt his objections were valid. I think a song that glorifies alcohol and getting wasted to young kids who watch the show doesn't belong in it anyway, so I agree with Jahmene.

Why are people calling him a diva and saying he's making people's lives harder?

For all we know it might have been a simple case of them thinking up different song choices and talking about them. This one comes up and Jahmene says he wasn't comfortable with the song and then them saying "Ok, then next one".

But no, everything has to be a drama.

I agree when you are unaware of both sides of the argument it is ignorant and reactionary to pass judgement.
Especially (supposing this is a true story) as this is a highly emotive issue for jahmene.

Ah well, who cares, the group performances are terrible anyway, he could have just sat out of it, but clearly they had enough time to make up a new one so is fine

But it's not about agendas, it's just a song and if nobody else was that bothered about the content then they should have there say.

Jahmene had an drunken, abusive father who was imprisoned for attacking his mother with a blow torch and a brother who killed himself when the father was released from prison. Can you blame him for having an agenda?
Jahmene doesn't make a song and dance about those things for sympathy votes, but quietly sticks to his principles. He has my admiration for that.

Mystic Mock

Maybe if you had a drunken father who was imprisoned for attacking your mother with a blow torch, like Jahmene did, you might have an agenda too.

Despite how terrible that event must have been for Jahmene I don't think he should keep using it to get everything he wants, it's in poor taste, especially when his using it to get votes.

Erm, he didn't make a big song and dance about it. Everyone else did.

HUH? When has he used it to get votes and get everything he wants? It is never even mentioned on the show. You are out of order.

He could have refused to bring it up in the VT like others have in the past, or he could have not blurted it out on stage like others have in the past, and he conveniently always does the million sob stories when his gonna have a really bad performance coming up, it's sick what his doing and it's no different from other sob stories really except for the fact that alot of people like Jahmene.

And his chuckle really annoys me, it sounds like Chucky from Child's Play and I feel sorry for Dermot having to talk to the guy.

I am not out of order, Jahmene is for thinking the only way to get votes is to make the public feel sorry for him over really tragic cases.

There must be an alternate version of the show on another planet that you watch. Jahmene does the opposite to your viewing experience here on planet earth.
Maybe you are mixing him up with nerve wracked Chris and how bad people are making his Nan ill...

Of course he does that's why they even showed an article on one of his VT's of his Father being an abusive thug.

Yes, I read the ONE article. If I hadn't I wouldn't have known anything as it has never been mentioned on the show. It's hardly the 'million sob stories' that you push for some unfathomable reason. What is your agenda?

Are you telling me that you've only read one sob story off this guy? and you don't remember his VT in week 4 I think it was where he started talking about his abusive Father and then cried on stage after his performance?

Yes, that is what I'm telling you. If you seen something I didn't, then you obviously have no sympathy at all for the horrific ordeals he has been through. He is certainly not milking it like you seem determined to have everyone believe. Okay, so you don't like him - but there is no need to exaggerate something that the other contestants do far more than he does (and with better reasons on his part.) It is one thing to say you don't like someone, it is another to make up over the top scenario's that don't even exist!
