I agree and I suspect they axed Derek because when Jamie spoke to the press or did interviews he was pleased about playing Derek, although he want to portray more sides to Derek but the show bosses wanted the character to be a pure villain...

Jamie's contract was always a year and ever since they introduced him, they knew what they wanted to happen. Stories are planned 12-18 months in advance.

I suspect they didn't go with it because of the whodunnit with Archie's murder on Christmas day and also the Kat shagger storyline and also with Max's secret, I think having a whodunnit would have been too much.

I couldn't stand him when he first came in and I thought it wa a bit silly that neither jack or max never lamped him but I was starting to like him more and they could have done more with him and Kat - show how he tried to control her before they killed him off.

Eastenders once again was best Christmas soap though.

He's done a few movies Vanessa, he was in layer cake. Always plays the same kind of character though. Would be great to see him do something else though, he has been great as Derek

Went from being a complete fool of a character in to something much darker. Like others have said, I'd have liked him around for longer to see how he controlled Kat etc.

for him to be going must show they are not happy at the top of EE as why would they rid someone that is doing so good for them. its simple maths you lot =- face it - he is not right for EE.

It will all be revealed. One of the actors who played the thugs said on Twitter that he'll be returning in the new year.

Some are speculating that one of the thugs is Kirsty's brother. If I'm right Kirsty said Derek promised her money for her abortion but he didn't pay her, so that could explain why the thugs were demanding money off Max.
