Industry and manufacturing is dying. Kids learning trades today might find their skills surplus to requirements in 15-20 years, and what happens then?

If you go into education with the right frame of mind, then it will never be false.

So your point is that people need to learn trades, but don't worry about doing something that can see them from 18-70, just in case there is a world war?

99% of future adults into the work force will understand the basics of computers by the time they're about 9.

What the world doesn't need is another round of media studies and performing arts students. Some young people are encouraged to have unreaslistic dreams of careers out of their reach. I do agree there should be more encouragement for people to go into vocational education, learn a trade, get some skills you can sell. Not everyone is cut out for university and yet it seems to be the natural progression now, whether you're academic or not.

Yes but some trades allow you to jump ship.
