No, Escalators are great

My mate from when I used to go to College was scared of them and one day me and my other mate ended up trying to get him over his fear LOL.

I don't know anyone with escalaphobia. Apparently, it's commonly related to the fear of stairs and slopes. Bathmophobia sufferers are afraid of simply being in the presence of a slope or a set of stairs, even if they are not expected to climb or descend.
