It's been CONFIRMED, Emma Willis will replace Brian Dowling as host

This morning it has been confirmed that Emma Willis will replace Brian Dowling as host of Big Brother. A representative from The Guardian newspaper tweeted saying that Channel 5 have confirmed the news, which Jamie East has retweeted!!!

I suspect he would have been offered BOTS, but I also suspect he said no. If you were Brian, would you really want to be working with someone who is taking your job, the biggest job in fact?! I would imagine Brian will be given more slots on this morning (ITV), he does that usually in the summer. I doubt we will ever see Brian again on Channel 5, he probably hates the management right now

If you work in television you have to have a pretty thick skin. Brian will get up, dust himself off and be on to the next project. I don't know the ins and out of it, but maybe he was at the end of his contract?

Yeah, it's a pity they didn't do it this way originally, I think it would be hard for him to take the BOTS job now after being fired for Emma, although I think he'd be crazy at the same time not to take it, it's still a good gig for him

I shall miss Brian, a shame. Hopefully this isn't the only change though. If the shows production is still of the same calibre as the last few series, then it will still be a poor show with Emma hosting. I don't think Brian was ever the problem, people just associated him with the negative aspects of the show, the same thing could happen with Emma.

Im thrilled shes taking over the main role from Brian, i like Brian when hes doing interviews and on other programs but iv never been a fan of him presenting the show. Emma will do a great job, i quite like bit on the side though and shes on 5 days a week unlike the evictions which will be 1 or 2 times a week so in some ways its a shame.. it should be interesting to see if she continues with bit on the side too.. i wouldn't mind Jamie doing it now

its good having different faces for both the main show and bit on the side so id like to see different people doing it, it also allows the bit on the side host to have more opinions about the housemates and i dont think Emma would be able to do that if she was doing both. I'm sure it will. It has done brilliantly lately, even for the summer show. It ended up with 1.7m on Channel 5 after the CBB11 final and was 2nd in its slot.

We don't need newsreader quality hosts.

Just someone capable with a genuine passion for the show.

Brian had the passion but his stilted script restricted his personality. He wasn't comfortable.

Thank god this happened! I always thought Emma was the true successor to Davina. Brian was an embarrassment. Unfunny. Annoying Voice. Far too 'Campy'. An epic messy flop.
