On Eviction Nights, I think they'll scrap the classic 'This is...' line when speaking to the house.

'This is Brian' never caught on - I mean still to this day when watching a Channel 5 eviction, I still wished for Brian to trip up and say 'This is Davina x'.

The only reason they put that into the script in 2011 anyway, was to add some familiarity to the viewers, regarding the Davina years.

Now that we have a third host, I can't see them carrying that famous line on.

I mean lets be honest, 'This is Emma..' doesn't have a ring to it either. So I propose a new way of speaking to the house, and a whole overhaul of the 'catch phrases' in general.

'It's time to talk to the house,

Big Brother house, you are live on Channel 5 please do not swear. Housemates, for the past three days the Great British Public have been voting for the person they want to stay in the house.

Rebeckah, Aden and Chris. The votes have been counted and verified and I can now reveal that the second person to be evicted from the Big Brother house, IS...'

That is how I think it should be done. Bring abit of the old Channel 4 script back but mix it up abit! The way Brian carried out the evictions was so ******ing dull.

I hate "your time has come" because when someone is up more than once it just has no relevance. It's only relevant to the person whose time has actually came, ie. the person being evicted.

I think they should drop that line with the name. The catchphrase is Davina's and doesn't work with anyone else.

Just straight into "Big Brother House.... etc etc".

I also think we could incorporate BBUSA and use the screen.

Emma stands in the studio and the camera switches on to her face. The housemates don't see any banners. Emma says "Hello Housemates" and then speaks to them more formally, maybe asking the housemates a couple of questions before saying "It's eviction time." She could then maybe have a card in an envelope with the name of the housemate who is leaving and say "In this envelope is the name of the housemate who will be evicted. The public have voted, they've been counted and verified and I am now going to reveal their choice." Following this, she opens the envelope and turns the card to face the camera and says the name. The housemates also see the name. Then she says "Say your goodbyes, I'll see you in 30 seconds" before the screen goes off.

I think this would be quite a nice new way of revealing the evicted housemates because it's more formal and calm and hasn't been done (in UK Big Brother).

She should just do whatever comes naturally, who cares if it is similar to what Davina or Brian said? Forcing something else is one of the reasons "Your time has come" sounded wooden.

Certainly don't think the host should initiate a conversation with the housemates as some have suggested. Also, isn't the envelope idea more related to music shows such as X Factor.

I think the way it is now is fine, just replace it with Emma's name.

Lol, the spinning platform is crap.

The whole set is convoluted bollocks. Scale it back.

Stairs, podium, walkway. No cheap and tacky doors, lifts, eyes etc.

The rotating walkway is cool in my opinion. Really enforces the idea that they actually are literally cut off from the rest of the world.

I disagree. I wouldn't like it because it gives the public an idea of who the favourites are, and also the housemates too. Then the housemates behaviour would change. I guess it's all kinda part of the "no contact from the outside world" thing.

Here is my idea for the sequence:
'Big Brother house, this is Emma. We are live on Channel 5, please do not swear. A, B, C & D. The public have been voting for the past (7) days and the lines are closed. The votes have been counted and verified and I can now reveal that the Nth person to be evicted *pause for 5 seconds* with n% of the vote *pause for 2 seconds* is *pause for 5 seconds* A! A, you have 30 seconds to say your goodbyes, over to Big Brother' and then BIG BROTHER, NOT MARCUS will go '10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. A, you have been evicted, please leave the Big Brother house,' and repeat this until the housemate has reached the doors. After Emma says 'Over to Big Brother' the tension music will start playing, it will not have played before hand. When they reach the door, the countdown that was introduced in BB13 will go on the door, but rather than the sirens, the instrumental mix of the Big Brother theme song that was used in BB11 when Davina was talking will play. When the housemate reaches the bottom of the stairs, Emma will say 'Ladies and Gents, it's A!' It will then go to an ad break.

Ah yeah I guess that's true, but then if it's a big character VS a dullard the outcome of the eviction should be predictable anyway (well, you'd hope...last year it wasn't always guaranteed). It'd still be hard to call if it were two/three dullards or big characters up against each other.

No it wouldn't :suspect: cause only the evictee's percentage would be revealed, and they're leaving anyway so it doesn't matter...they're clearly not a favourite. And I think 3 people minimum should be up every week anyway so how the remaining percentage of the vote was split between the other two would remain unknown as well.

Yeah, but there was no mention of it being a minimum of 3 nominees. If that's the case then it's alot better. But say if a housemates friend was up and their friend was evicted with like 80% of the public vote in a 3-way vote then they would start acting differently and be paranoid about being hated.

True, but I just think that the housemates aren't acting the way they normally would if they knew about how much their friend/s were evicted by. I wouldn't mind them revealing it to the evictee in their interview or just revealing it to the public though. Actually, I'm starting to like that idea :joker: But it would never happen though.

I may have missed something crucial here but to my ears "Live on five" and "Live on 5" sounds exactly the same.

I think the point they were making is that it would be "Live on Channel 5" not just "Live on 5" - or of course they could just have been being annoying.

Personally I've always preferred the audio only announcement as it forces the HMs to look at each other rather than focus on the screen when the evictee is announced, but in the interests of freshening up things in a simple way I'm quite willing to throw that principle out of the window.

They were all within 10 minutes of broadcast and are classed as live. Davina explained it. During BB11/UBB they weren't in that 10 minutes which is why it wasn't used

It hasn't been live since BB7 I believe, due to Pete :laugh: and some of the other housemates swearing on purpose for a laugh.

And yeah you make a fair point there at that last bit - I'd miss the housemates staring at eachother waiting.

Post BB7 I don't think Davina said the live on channel 4 line that often. It was more of a catchphrase in the early years.

Pretty sure I have heard a presenter of some show on Channel 4 saying, "See you on 4 in 4", despite it being called "Channel 4", But don't know for absolute certainty.
