View Full Version : Ben Frow- Live Feed every night on 5*

*mazedsalv**

A poster on DS emailed him (Jeff Ford's replacement) what will happen, and he stated that there will be Live Feed on 5* every night. I hope that's true, but depends how long for. Probably only for an hour. If it was from 11pm until the morning, and then a couple of hours in the afternoon, it would be as close as we can go I guess!

At least it's a step in the right direction :)

Still not enough. All or nothing I say. The live feed they've given us so far feels manipulated and it's always when an 'event' is going on.

If we get 8 hours overnight I will worship this man forever  this is a step in the right direction

One hour would be alright, but teasing.

Guess it's something. I would LOVE for them to do it online. I would buy that. They would get a lot of money for it.

One thing to do; one of us should email Ben Frow and see what he replies. But ask politely I would say :p My email doesn't work at the moment :(

Yeah the online one was good, I got quite addicted to it LOL made a terrible series better.

I just hate all we get is bits and bats of live feed and they make out it's a big deal. Like when Brian used to pull a stupid face and go "It's back", it should just be a part of BB.

TBH guys I would urge you all to email him - I just did, unfortunately I didn't emphasize the importance of LONG Live Feed, as I didn't see this thread.

If anyone would like to see my email, here it is:

Hello there,

I would just like to express my views to you on the upcoming series of Big Brother this Summer, firstly I'm personally delighted that you have replaced Jeff Ford as director of programming on Channel 5 - as a long term Big Brother fan, I felt that he didn't connect with the core fan base the show has and lead to very poor leadership and production when it came to overseeing the franchise as a whole since it's move to the channel in 2011.

I'm eager to express my interest to you, on behalf of thousands upon thousands of Big Brother fans across the country - to seriously consider taking the show back to it's roots. I understand wholeheartedly that you (along with the production team of Big Brother) need to ensure that shows stay modern and up to date - but stripping it of vital components such as, the live streaming, isn't the right way to go about achieving high viewing figures when it comes to television ratings.

There is nothing more disappointing for us fans, than to see our favourite show perform poorly in the ratings, and this could simply change with the re-installation of live streaming. (Whether that be through online feeds or a red button option)

Jeff Ford had previously made the statement numerous times that live feed for Big Brother was 'unnecessary' in these times, as fans are more interested in the 'social media' aspect of the show.
I can tell you from a fan's perspective, and a long standing member of several Big Brother fan groups from the show begun, this is not the case - people are more interested in watching the housemates, rather than reading what they are doing on Twitter or Facebook.

Statistics prove everything aswell. The 10th series of Big Brother on Channel 4, pulled in a series average of 2.5m viewers, which at the time was the lowest in the show's history.
Without a doubt, the one and only factor to the ratings falling in 2009, was because Channel 4 decided to axe the live streaming, by 2010 - they had realised their vital mistake, and reinstalled the live streaming, and by the end of that Summer, the 11th series of Big Brother averaged at 3.2m viewers, this is no coincidence.

If you want to create a successful Big Brother series, there are alot of different factors that must be addressed - however, the most important, is the live feed.

So I ask you, once again on behalf of all Big Brother fans - please reconsider the importance of a live streaming for the 14th series of Big Brother.

Thanks for your time, hopefully I hear back from you in due course.

- Patrick

Still though, the more people flood this guys inbox with messages like that - only speaking about 24hr Live Feed, the better. Because I don't want them thinking they can shut us up by giving us 45 minutes of live streaming a night, that's pathetic. Plus I hate 5*, the quality is just horrendous. ew.

I'm getting abit picky now  But still.

We had 24 Hour live feed on E4 I believe - through red button, and they can have the red button capabilities if they got it set up I suppose.

They could easily do it online though, I mean we see it in the BOTS Studio - all it would take is for them to literally put a wire in the right place, and bang. Online Live Feed.

True, although Channel 5 aren't the best with their online services.

I have no idea what's going on had a reply from the chap 4 days ago asked me to keep its contents quiet until C5 informed the press and I know a few others had the same reply.

how this is going to work no idea because Jeff ford said last year one of the key issues with no overnight feed was the fact C5 was in contract with the Casino people and 5* was under lease with overnight adverts.5* was the channel mentioned in the email

5* is such an underused Channel I doubt a 24hr feed will ever return. But giving people enough to at least see the various sides of HM's not just from a selective h/l show or very short vids via the website will help restore a connection between HM's and supporters and should Generate a lot more debate on the forums about houselife and interactions.

Send any further e-mails to channel 5, not Ben.

I'm referring to the requests for Ben's email address since. TIBB has a habbit of not thinking these through and bombarding people till their fed up of hearing about it and in no mood to sympathise with us. Jeff Ford used to reply personally to our questions about it, people cottoned on here and within weeks we were all being forwarded to some C5 bod because of people here all jumping on the band wagon, we've given him our opinion, now let's wait and see what he says.

Agree totally.
only 1 email I sent off got the reply and wont trouble the guy again.
He does seem very nice and replied quickly.

I just wonder if the person who posted on DS had the same message about keeping quiet until they inform the press of the setup?

its the main reason I didn't publish his email on Twitter because he did ask not to publish the email or its content and I didn't want to piss him off.

Number of reasons
1. The dodgy legal ground around making public private communications without (proper) public interest
2. Wanting to have a press release out rather than leave everyone to speculate
3. He was telling those who cared enough to ask in confidence

its go to be back in some shape or form.
from fords comments earlier its clear the revenue needs to be raised.
that's the most crazy thing if they just have faith in the format and maybe more importantly faith in the fans it will work good for them.

remember just before bb11 ? they gave away those free passes the blooming website crashed with people trying to get one.

If its being offered free I think the best we will get is either some late night feed or few hours dotted through the day and some in the night.

@bbuk_fans
08-04-2013, 09:42 PM
I don't understand the emails, i'm a little suspicious with these alleged "confirmation" of live feed on email. WHY would Ben, (who has been with Channel 5 in his new job as head of programming less than 2 or 3 months) potentially risk his job in telling a viewer about a decision that hasn't made to press yet?! Obviously there's customer/audience service, but to tell someone to keep it quiet is just plain stupid...That's almost like ITV head of programming saying "yes its true, X factor is getting the axe after this year, but keep it quiet" when obviously it'll be all over twitter in 5 minutes , it's totally unprofessional. Usually in media, nothing is official until it's confirmed in a press release etc, so don't take the word of it coming back just yet people.

all I can say it was 100% off Ben frow
im confused to be honest as I told people on twitter I didn't want to share the email as he did say keep it quiet then when others started posting I thought maybe the situation had changed.

I saw one reply that was the same contact numbers as I saw so assumed it must be legit.I think as happyfan said on Twitter its just best to hangfire now until C5 want to confirm.

I do know some others have had replies and different again on some details but saying the same thing. So that might suggest there's a very fluid situation going on at the moment.

cut a very long story short I sent C5 a huge folder at the end of last year even though I left Digital spy I keep just poking C5 about a livefeed coming back.Jeff ford wrote me a letter about some of the issues I raised in that and some of the guys at DS wrote stuff which I printed off and sent back to him.

when I got in touch with Ben Frow I asked him did he still have the Folder etc and it went from there basically.

bit pissed off really if some people on another site thought it was funny trying to suggest they had emails I assumed that meant it was okay to show but when someone here pointed out its more than likely false emails I removed it asap.
