BIG Brother contestants will face an unusual challenge when the show kicks off next month – an eco-friendly reality house where they must grow their own food.

The new clean and green house will open its doors on Channel 5 complete with recycled furniture. But while self-sufficient living might sound like a dream come true, this will not be The Good Life. One insider has already dubbed the new house “the home from hell”.

A statement from Big Brother said: “It’s all about self-sufficiency and recycling this year. “As the housemates enter they will be greeted by a huge wall containing recycled life-size front doors. But what do they signify – and what lies behind them? “The sweeping staircase will take them down into an eco-style living space. “Although impressive in appearance, this house is not a hotel and provides a tougher environment than ever before.”

Channel 5 bosses have called this year’s show Secrets And Lies as they prepare to put the weird and the wacky hopefuls through their paces. But it is not just the living environment that will be tough.

This year’s show is hosted by Emma Willis, 37. Celebrity Big Brother winner Rylan Clark, 24, and AJ Odudu, 20, will front the spin-off Big Brother’s Bit On The Side. Fans can look forward to a nightly dose of live action as bosses stream a live feed on 5*.

Im so looking forward to this BB if they have to grow their own vegetables it means basic rations is back and all these wannabees who go in these days for an easy ride truly will have to fend for themselves.

Could we be seeing a classic style BB with less editing and please to god less Marcus.

I think from the article it's going to be more BB1-BB4 just part of the format than the main twist, they talk of Big Brother being harsher with the twists and tasks separately to the bit about being green. Sounds like the green thing is just a part of it.

I think the article has took some truth and then fluffed it out themselves.

At first it says they are faced with a wall of doors on entering and then said the staircase brings them into a living space.

So, unless the doors are on the balcony bit before the stairs then it's a contradiction.

Both those bits are part of a quoted statement from the show so I'm assuming it'll all make sense when we see it, from 'huge wall' it sounds like it could be referring to a house width wall rather than a balcony or a foyer wall, maybe the divide between the two houses / living quarters we've speculated about.

Sounds like you go through the main door, and the staircase leads own to another wall made entirely of doors.
