Right so at the minute we've heard about the new theme of the series, the new eye which is a similar theme to what ch4 would have done, they've got Emma back so it can go back to it's "Davina" style eviction, but do you think ch5 will actually do the show justice? I.e. scrapping the pop up of names on screen every time it shows a housemate or music & flashback montages killing the evening shows?

No, the glory days have been and gone.
It's possible it could be good again, but not that good.

It can be 'watchable' again.
But we're never gonna see the days of millions of people tuning in and voting and making these people house-hold names for a few months after they've left, once they are out, it's done.

It's a shame because BB13 had the potential of being a great series because the tasks were ace and the housemates were pretty controversial but again ch5 ruined it by its chav-tastic approach to the show

Thinking about doing a partial BB6 rewatch myself before BB14 starts.

Not a hope...too much of a stigma attached to it these days

Such a shame because if there wasn't then maybe it'd still be on channel 4

Well we never know ratings wise. It came to my and other peoples surprise how well CBB11 did, and how it was the highest rated on Channel 4 and since Ultimate BB. (I don't count that it matched CBB8 average because the launch rating for CBB8 inflated the number. Basically CBB11 did better overall consistently).
It's clear it won't ever go over 4m nightly again (but then again, you never know. Ch5 is finding its feet with a lot of their programs), but I don't think we should rule out another boost of ratings for this series or in the future when new viewers come, or when intrigued old viewers are curious.
All you need is a good series to make the next one a success. For all we know, this series can average 2.1m, BB15 could average 2.7m, and it could hit 3m in the future.
Reality shows are very up and down (see Strictly who has blossomed lately, and DOI which flopped in comparison to its previous series). A lot of reality has been declining in ratings whereas CBB/BB and IAC built on the previous. Some people are picky. DOI had a terrible year, but next series a 1m+ boost could happen.
In terms of the quality aspect of "glory days", possibly yes. If people give the launch a shot and enjoy it, they will stick around, and it will give the producers the will to keep on what they are doing. This series could be the same as BB12-BB13, or it could be the best ever series. You just can't tell until the HMs a cast. They are the real success. You could have an incredible format change, ad campaign but if the HMs are bores, then nothing can be done. If it does go more "upmarket", then this could get the papers into it again.

The show will never get back what they had from the Ch4 days. They'll continue with their Ch5 signature style stamped on the show.

Doesn't matter if DOI gets a boost or not, it's been axed, the next series is it's last, however it rates.

if they can show a bit of guts and stick to the formula that is tried and tested and we all no that works - i don't see why not.

I have been rewatching BB6 and if they showed that today it'd be taken off air. It was such a morally corrupt series though and the casting was perfect! :D

Ahh, I didn't know it only had one more series left. Sucks for them. Quite impressive that BB was the first reality show pretty much and is still around when others have been cancelled (things like Pop Idol, Fame Acadamy), and has gone longer than IAC, DOI, SCD, X Factor, BGT, etc... Not bad I say after 13 years.

I don't think so, the glory days are long gone but maybe what we can hope for is a more diverse range of housemates, so that the appeal is not just to adolescents. I don't see any reason why BB can't establish itself long term with a small but loyal fanbase.

In terms of viewing figures, highly unlikely. As a programme then it's possible.
Tbh as long as it can draw around 2million for normal bb, and maintain the 2.5/3mil for cbb it will be around for a long time.
Top those up with some nice launch and finale nights and five won't get rid.
The normall bb is crucial however. There's definately a core base of 2mil it can achieve if the right things are done, and it seems to be going that way,
