Round 2 is open! Lostalex withdrew, Round 1 re-opened, the decisive set of nominations put Iceman and Vicky through, so we have a top 51 which is listed below. Please remember that you must PM your votes to me. 10 members, ranked in order of preference from 1st to 10th (1st gets 10 points, all the way down to 10th who gets 1 point), along with reasons for why you are giving them points. Please DO NOT use smilies in your votes, means I can't copy and paste them into Excel as easily.

Hello friends, welcome to the eighth edition of Most Loved. I will lay out the format of how this works below for those of you who are unfamiliar.

The format:

Round 1 - every member can nominate up to 10 members (ideally you will nominate 10, though you don’t have to) who they believe should qualify for the Most Loved Top 50 countdown - you do not rank these in order, but just list ten names. Three nominations qualifies that member for the second round of voting. You may only nominate once, you may not nominate yourself and you may not nominate a member more than once in round 1, just list different ten members who you wish to nominate for the competition. You must send this to me in a Private Message, you do not post it in this thread. This round will close when a full list of 50 people have qualified for Round 2, slots are filled on a first-to-reach-three-nominations, first served basis.

Rules for round 1 – You may not nominate permanently banned members, deceased members or yourself. A number of users who do not fall under these categories have chosen to withdraw, or have otherwise been withdrawn, and these are as follows:

You must include reasons for voting for these members as when I do the count down, I will be typing up a paragraph with reasons why each member is loved by the forum. 1st place in a set of votes in round 2 will receive 10 points, 2nd place = 9 points ... 10th place = 1 point.

Rules for Round 2 - When you PM me, PLEASE can you use the following format:

1st - User A - I like this person's bodily aromas and it pains me that they won't ever love me back.
2nd - User 23 - I want User 23's hair and I just don't care.

The Countdown - The first round score, where members received nominations, will be multiplied by 3 to give the top 50 members a first round score (e.g. if JH95 received 13 nominations, he'd have 39 points in round 1) which will be added to the second round score (e.g. JH95 receives 68 points overall in round 2) giving a final score (e.g. JH95 would have 107 points) and this overall score will be used to dictate where members finish on the final list.

Nominations are now open! Round 1 will be closed once the 50 members have been decided!

As most of you will know, there has been some tension surrounding the decision whether or not to allow the user ‘Mollie’ to be included in this game, because of what happened not so long ago. My original intention was to allow Mollie to be nominated and voted for, because this, along with the pub quiz, the Razzies and the Eurovision game, is one of the most widely participated in games on the forum and involuntary exclusion goes against what I believe the game should stand for.

In the past, I have only ever excluded permanently banned members, deceased members and members who have willingly opted out, all of them for the umbrella reason of “they can’t give their permission, or they have explicitly said they don’t want to participate.”

This remained the case right up until very recently, when it was brought to my attention that there was a ploy to vote for Mollie in a mean-spirited attempt to hijack this game and what it stands for by someone with disingenuous intentions. This was brought to my attention and I saw the conversation first hand; leaving no doubt in my mind about what had taken place, so I mulled over what to do.

I considered doing nothing, but then I decided that that would be wrong, because this is, and has always been, a game which reflects the positive aspects of this forum and what the majority of people enjoy about it. In the past there have been joke campaigns to get entities such as TiBB Staff to rank highly, or well meaning campaigns to celebrate the unsung heroes of TiBB, and those are motions I can support as a host, because they are borne out of positivity and not negativity. This campaign to promote Mollie was not borne out of positivity, and it flies in the face of everything this game stands for.

As a result of all of this, my hand has unfortunately been forced, and I will be withdrawing Mollie from being nominated or voted for. If Mollie returns to the forum during the proceedings, they will be entitled to take part in the nomination and voting process like any other user, but I cannot in good faith allow someone to lead a hate filled campaign to spite this game. Therefore, and it really pains me to have to do this because it goes against everything I want for this game, I am withdrawing Kate from being nominated or voted for, as well as withdrawing her from being able to nominate or vote.

This was not a decision taken lightly. This is the first time I have ever done this. Trying to make a mockery of this game, publicly, is not something I will tolerate. This is about celebrating what makes this forum so great, it is not about rewarding malicious behaviour with more malicious behaviour; this game has been running for four years and it would be a shame for it to be derailed by negativity.


Now, with that unpleasantness dealt with, let’s take a look at how the game works:

Ammi withdrew after qualifying but I'd already revealed who had gotten 1 and 2 noms; and I'd just received Niall's after I announced it was shut so either I counted his and it put Firewire through or I reopened noms but everyone would know who had 1 and 2; so I put it to a poll and Firewire won through.

Yeah.. that's partly why I announced it so early; but you never know, some people might see that they've qualified and immediately recoil, so you've gotta respect that - that's what happened with Ammi last time and I respect that, so same goes this time - if someone wants to withdraw immediately upon discovering they've qualified, I'd just reopen Round 1.

No it's happened before, we just have a larger shortlist, they'd all be mentioned in the countdown but ~for the record books~ only the top 50 would be recorded; plus there'd be room for people dropping out last minute etc.
