Well, that's a bit of a lame comparison. The cameraman isn't hosting the show.

Rylan's hosting BOTS, not the main show. Not that even Emma really needs to appear, the eye worked fine in the ident on it's own the last few series.

One saving grace I suppose is the regular sight of AJ in that dress.

I never said he's hosting the main show but they clearly have an ident for BOTS which is a show of its own.

Comparing it to Bob the cameraman was silly, since he is not an onscreen presence.

I agree there's no need for the hosts to be in idents (I hated Brian's indents), but if they're going to put anybody in them it will be the presenters.

None of the presenters were involved in last year's.
I never said he's hosting the main show but they clearly have an ident for BOTS which is a show of its own.
Let's hope it's just for BOTS, but he seems to be suggesting it's for the show as a whole, though admittedly he may just not be being specific.

The comparison wasn't a wholly serious one, and neither really is this thread, it doesn't seriously bother me, it's just a slight gripe.

Why not just the main presenter, Emma, who is also a presenter on BOTs an can represent that too.

Not at all. I'm not taking it half as seriously as those replying are assuming I am. Admittedly text isn't good at making it clear, but I'm knowingly moaning for the sake of it. I don't actually care about a 20 second ident, I'd just rather, choice given, not be regularly reminded they've hired him :laugh:.

the ident is usually shown before the show.
For example, before last Summers BB it was the eye spinning around in some sort of warehouse.

So this year, Rylan will be shown before the show starts.

Again, an ident isn't something presenter related, so he hadn't need to be, it's just the intro vid they show to programmes with the '5' logo in. As I said, I'm really not all that bothered, but I'd have rathered they'd done something swishy with the eye as usual, the 5 logo appears at the centre of it in the ads, so why not have that version light up and the '5' centre door from the ad slam shut to reveal the logo or something? They finally have an imaginative logo to do something imaginative with, rather than the tedious patterned eatock templates or generic 3D blocks and they do something so creaively bankrupt as Rylan gurning to cam.

Maybe Emma has her own. But facts are Emma isn't the main host of BOTS, she's doing about 3 days a week to Rylan and the woman's 4 so they will represent BOTS.

I think it's good they have the team in the idents - a bit of continuity with the presenting team.

Rylan is marmite, you're either going to like him or hate him. I hated him on X Factor, liked him on CBB and I'm rooting to like him on CBB. I don't want it to be another case of the Brian Dowling's - he was a good housemate but as stiff as a board when it came to presenting.

He's done alright on This Morning and Daybreak though when he's been on.

Where did I say that I didn't want responses? This place is getting worse than DS for reading into stuff things that aren't there. Just didn't intend this thread to be quite so po-faced and argumentative is all I mean. As I said, this wasn't intended as a moan, just a reporting of what Rylan had tweeted (see my more obviously jokey thread on this on DS), for everyone to comment on, the ':bored:' smiley was just me exaggeratedly surmising my feeling towards it.

Anyway, I'm bored of arguing over Rylan bloody Clarke (or more specifically a ':bored:' smiley which was my sole initial input other than the relaying of the tweet) and I wasn't questioning why they'd put a presenter or even Rylan in in it (I know what the purpose of a bloody ident is and I know that using the presenter is a valid way of achieving it and one done before), or whether it made sense (as others seem to have assumed for themselves) or why they picked Rylan as a host (though I'm still utterly baffled), I expressed my personal dislike for it and suggested and questioned whether there were other (less annoyingly camp and orange) ways to do it. That's my final say on it. Nit pick away.

Emma replaced Brian as host, Rylan + AJ replaced Jamie + Alice as BOTS hosts (Emma will still do a few nights a week), there will be Live Feed every day from 7pm to 9pm on 5*, there are 2 Launch Nights and there will be "Bit On The Psych" show hosted by AJ on Saturday nights and "Rylan's Supersized Celebrity Sunday" hosted by Rylan on Sundays.
