Do you smoke cigarettes?

Well, do you? And if so, how often and why?

I started smoking mid-march around the 19th, and I wish I hadn't :( I was just so stressed and sad around that time and it really helped as a calming down mechanism. I was smoking like 7-8 cigs a day around that time. It also gave me a sense of company aha, I guess around that time I was dealing with abandonment issues or something and the cig was something that could keep me company and I could rely on not leaving. It's weird, it's like I struggled to talk to real people at the time cause I was so down but when I would smoke it would feel like I was with another person, I just didn't have the pressure to talk, nor the worry of that person leaving me.

I smoke much less now like half a cig to two a day, and i'm working on quitting. I don't actually enjoy it, really, it just calms me down and helps me deal with stuff. My goal is to quit smoking by the end of this month, cause I really don't want to jeopardize my health and stuff. Anyways, what is it like for you? What got you started smoking, if you do? And if you don't, would you ever do it?

Nah, I used to smoke when my mum still did, she'd be all like 'here have 10 for the week xo' and I'd smoke them through the week, but since she's stopped I cut down (I'd still have the odd one with my friend) but now I don't at all.

Sort of, only smoke one or two a day though (more on a night out) but go through days/weeks without having one when I'm at home cos my parents got really pissed off about it when they caught me having one when I was about 17 outside. Part of the reason I don't really feel that addicted to it because I never physically want to have more than two in one day, I just enjoy having one at the end of a day or with a drink or whatever

Good on you Niamh, that's amazing! It's so true though, it's almost that much nicer with a drink.

Yeah i'm in the same place as you right now dude. When I smoke, it's like one at night, I go outside and sit on the porch and just smoke one. It's pretty peaceful. And I agree, i'm also at the point where I don't physically feel the need for it, I just enjoy the feeling at the end of the day.

Working at a grocery store I had to memorize and fetch cigarettes all day and the sex appeal of this box nearly got me smoking.

no but I'd never even touched a cigarette until a couple months ago, smoked one b/c I thought it was a joint </3 it's a commendable feat because I live in a sh1tkicker hick town and everyone smokes from the age of 10

about 7 here. but they are always raising the price. Not as bad as New York but when i first started smoking they were only 3 bucks a pack.

I had my first cig probably 2 years ago now. For the first year Id probably smoke 1-2 a week, used to take my dog out and lamp one up, made me feel chilled because I was pretty stressed at the time. I stole them from my mum or dad, who smoke a packet a day and never realised. Well actually one time I got cocky and stole one during the day, rather than night, and my mum questioned me and my brother and I turned around and went "Branny you didnt steal it did you???" :suspect: What an awful brother LOL, in the end she thought she dropped it somewhere.

Then I started buying my own packets for nights out, where Id smoke 2-3. This was more apparent at uni. It was March-ish this year when I started noticing that Id go down for a 'cheeky cig' whilst working on assignments and revision and stuff. I think one week I smoked 2 x 10 packets, the most ever for me. So instead of letting that get out of hand I stopped buying packets again and became the annoying "Can I pinch a ciggie?" guy on nights out.

I dont feel addicted but I enjoy them because Ive never smoked more than 4 in a day they still give me a little head rush. Ive probably only had 5 cigs in the past month now though, which Im happy about because at one point I did question myself (only because my flatmate was doubting me saying Im not 'addicted' tbf.. which annoyed me :laugh:). Now Im home Im back to pinching the odd one from my dad :pipe: My mum's quit so it does make me feel a bit awful, I was always anti-smoking but theyre a good chilling-out tool and a social tool on nights out.

I do not smoke cigarettes, I find them vile and in my own family I have seen the negative Heath effects on a smoker.

Yeah, probably between 5 and 10 a day. I'm completely aware of the negative health implications but I still do because I like it. It's odd explaining it but it's just nice, I guess. Started off a few years ago to experiment what it would taste like/do with a few mates but I've since turned regular. :(

A bit pointless though, I have to admit. I bet if cannabis was readily available + regulated around these parts the cigarette industry would have a lot of competition...
