Highlights Shows

I've been reading up on the US version of Big Brother, and it got me thinking...

The US version of BB only airs its highlights show three times a week, Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Do you think that could ever work for our version?

Of course, the vast majority watch the highlights shows religiously every night, but would it ever work out better for ratings and the total audience if it aired a 2-hour highlights package just three times a week?

Not to mention, would it not give a better quality highlights show with a couple of days highlights to show in one?

As I mentioned, I've never sat down at watched the US version, but it seemingly works well for them.

I would hate it. The only day I wouldn't be as bothered if they cut it was Saturday, even then I would feel much less involved - wouldn't be able to get into the series, especially because of the limited live feed.

Yep, Saturday shows can be a tad pointless, with the eviction recap and the ratings usually suffer as well.

I don't know whether I'd enjoy the format even with 24/7 live feed. I think I'd miss not viewing the show every night.

I feel the same really, I also think a 2 hour show is too long - the casual viewers C5 want would get bored or watch something else.

hmm surprisingly it works over there but I dunno- I love having BB on every night here. The episodes need to be more action-packed though. Hate the lack of production where some days theres no tasks or anything!

Doubt it would work over here. People are used to an episode every night. Also, with an episode every 2 or 3 days we'd probably see even less action than we already do.

Also, if you miss one episode you've missed up to 3 days of action so will be more likely to not bother watching the series anymore, not so much a problem if you only miss one day

Saturday nights highlights only consist of about 5 minutes of eviction footage the rest is all unsees from before and after so Saturdays aren't pointless.

Secondly US has 24 hour live stream and we don't so to give us only 3 or 4 highlight shows would be ridiculous without any lf.

I must admit, I am watching BB7 right now and am tending to skip the Saturday shows unless a major twist has happened- just find them boring etc.

God no, BBUK really shouldn't be copying anything BBUS does. Especially considering that there's only going to be two hours of live feed a night, a daily highlights show is absolutely necessary.

I prefer seeing the show every night.

The only show in my eyes that is a bit pointless here is the Saturday show. Scrapping that and having a 1 hour 30 minute show on a Sunday would be preferable. But all things considered, the show every day works fine as it does.

Indeed, I don't think I'd like just three days a week even with 24/7 live streaming. I need my daily fix.

Although, I could live without the Saturday show sometimes.

the highlights show misses too much especially when they do it on a eviction night it should be on before.
i wouldn't mind 3 days if they made it longer. it needs to be longer as it is.
last series was crazy how much stuff they left out.

Only the weekend shows really as saturdays you get most of it in the Friday eviction show and sundays nothing much happens on a Saturday anyway and if there was a twist put a special show on
But I wouldn't want the mon-thursday highlight shows to go.

As ive said before.

This is not true.

Saturdays highlights show all the build up to eviction then about 5 to 10 minutes covering the actual eviction and then more new action from the house.

Its a regular episode with a small recap basically.

Its been 13 years and people still don't get it.

I hate that kind of format. The UK version is better. Although like said earlier the Saturday shows are always pointless, i always think on the Saturdays they should only show highlights from after the eviction and it should be a 30minute show instead of an hour. Apart from that everything else is good.

It would never work unless it was the same format and we had unlimited live feed, that's how it is so successful over there.
