Should vote to save been kept on?

I'm appalled and extremely disappointed. Roll on the big characters being evicted in the first half of the series and a dullard winner...
I seriously hope this is a 'lie' and they're trolling us again

They ruined Vote to save when they had it because most weeks it was only 2 people up for nomination, so it was pointless having vote to save, cause it was a vote to evict by default.
If they had done vote to save properly, and made a rule that at least 3 people were up every week, it would have worked so much better. Vote to save only works when there are a lot of people up.

the current system is only good for more than two nominees, which is rare. So opting to vote to evict isn't s major difference to the series

Exactly, and this is what the majority of fans have been asking for for the last few years, and instead they've given us the one system that worked even worse than head-to-head vote to saves :bored:

If the majority of bigger personality's on 5's BB had been saved, then I'd feel more angry. But Victoria, Chris, Benedict, Heaven, Rebeckah and so on going shows that sometimes the result wouldn't have been different with a vote to evict in place...

I'm not too bothered. The entertaining housemates can still survive vote to evicts if they're also likeable enough (See Rex, Freddie, Marcus, etc).
It's just the bitchy women we'll get rid of now, which pretty much continued to happen with a vote to save anyway

Its BBUk, and its tradition. I am all for bringing it back. Even if you lose one big character, thats what its all about. Others will emerge, always.
It makes eviction night, more relevant, and more fun!
I was against it before, but now I sort of miss it.
This coming series, feel a bit like the early BBs, and the vote to evict, will come along with it.

I honestly don't mind.
I don't think it makes a lot of difference, as when it was changed to vote to save, BB messed a lot with the noms and immunity tasks to get favoured results, and expect they always will do so now. Maybe there wasn't so much voting going on in Vote to Save rather than evict?

I don't feel they gave VTS a fair chance, as most of the time it was a head to head eviction which makes it essentially the same as VTE anyway.

I'm just confused, they didn't even try and hide the fact they were rigging it for Speidi to stay as long as they could during CBB, they obviously want and need characters, why ruin it?

That's a good point actually, we learnt that they too wish to keep the big characters in (well, who wouldn't?!) in January and now they've brought back a system which goes completely against that
Unless the nominations process has changed to one which will ensure, or hope to ensure that the deadwood goes up?

I agree with Jack and Lostalex, I prefer vote to save myself but it does need 3 or more up to be realy effective.
For me though, re-instating vote to evict is a backward step and a bad move in my opinion. Really disappointing if it really goes ahead.
I'm actually happy-
BB5/6/7/8/9/10 all produced amazing final 5's! BB11 was a minor occasion just because of the Quad.

always lose a big character in the first few weeks because the house are going to nominate the irritants either way. Would prefer a vote to save though since it means the public can't get arsey about their supposed "paying to evict people" rights getting quashed in twists

lol @ any of those people being likable. You're right about the "bitchy" women getting screwed with this but to be fair the public's sexist as a whole so women never really stood a chance.

eek that'd be even worse than BB11
Anyways, to answer the question I don't really think it matters. Switching to vote to save didn't even change much, people are always going to complain "well if there was a better voting system <"big character" aka huge boring asshole> would've stayed" so no matter what voting system we get people are going to bitch because it'll never go according to plan.

Yep. People tend to vote more and talk more about who they want to oust. Vote to evict sometimes backfires and a good housemate goes, but it's so much better when you want a housemate out and they go and your vote to evict helped see them out the door.

I don't think the vote to save or evict is that much difference because most of the big personalities were voted out of BB12 early, kind of the same in BB13.

Vote to Evict means housemates will now be reserve so they can stay in the house longer, that's not a good thing for an entertainment show.

Hmmm, sometimes. Look at BB5. There were many BIG characters in there who survived for ages/to the final.
I think BB needs to start picking housemates that are not trying to be argumentative, that never really works (look at Charley for example). What they need is people that are not used to being restricted, and they need to take away all these luxuries like sauna, nice foods, gyms etc. The more frustrated, restricted and deprived they are is when we see the sparks truly fly from most people (again look at fight night, it brought out strong traits good and bad in everyone).
Pushing people to their limits is what BB needs in order to get the best from all housemates over the 9 weeks.

Absolutely, basically they need to bring in ex-criminals, shahbaz clones and people with medically recognised anger problems :joker:

The season will hinge on the casting, not the voting options. There hasn't been a cast I enjoyed since BB10UK, so I'm not optimistic until I see it.

I think it's really a mixed blessing IMO... I believe that the fundamentally the nature of the public vote was always that the viewers have the final say in who is evicted... It's also not as if a vote to evict always results in larger characters leaving either... Personally it's the nomination process that throws the larger characters under the bus...

Interesting people leave the show because housemates nominate people that piss them off. Dull people tend not to piss people off and fly under the noms radar.

Exactly!!!
The vote to save kept Connor until he walked with half the prize money in week 10, despite the fact that he was disliked and complained about en-masse... Conner faced the public vote 4 times throughout the series and survived all 4 times and 3 out of those 4 times he faced more than one opponent... The vote to save is far from perfect...

Well also there were some idiots that literally said "I would LOVE for Conor to be evicted but I just can't bring myself to save Shievonne so I'm not voting" coupled with her being a black girl I don't see how people are amazed that it was an 80-20 split.
