Yup. Same. It's funny I am into lots of geeky stuff and say it loud and proud. But the show that used to be the coolest thing in the country...not these days.

No need, it'll trend a few hours early tomorrow. Always does these days.

Tomorrow morning/lunchtime, it will trend in the UK I am sure. That is good promotion in itself. :) I will talk about it tomorrow morning on Twitter. Probably not on Facebook, only about 20 of the 1200 friends I have actually watch it, and they all know it's coming back.

It's sad that we have to do this - all because the dick heads at Channel 5 are incapable of promoting it themselves.

I am not understanding this 'no promotion'

Okay this year they haven't gone and advertised on other channels, nor have they put billboards up (but they didn't for CBB either so it's not a case of... THEY LOVE CBB MORE AND ARE KILLING OUR SHOW) Emma has been on the biggest UK radio-station, Rylan has done Loose Women and then they constantly hype on twitter, those who care about the show will know about it, it won't appeal to a mass majority of people and hasn't done for a long time.

Yup, still no ads on non-Desmond channels. Hope we see one (/some) tonight or just before the launch tomorrow during the soaps.

The aim of the game is to get ratings.

If people see the show as a relaunch - and see how different this series is, they'll watch. But no one knows because they aren't advertising.

If they conjured up a simple house trailer, and aired it on ITV or a Music Channel - they've secured themselves thousands more viewers on launch night.

Why be embarrassed about watching Big Brother? So many people do, just some don't admit it.

Loads of people use facebook more than Twitter so it can only be a good thing to share links about it.

Cant do any harm.

I plug it loads. Just wish C5 would use their initiative and put an ad on during Corrie or Emmerdale...

On the channel 5 channel they should at least have one of those little countdown things at the corner of the screen with the eye next to it or the countdown being in the big brother eye. That would be class. Everyone would see that. Great promotion.

Exactly.

Its just simple things that the promotions team miss out on.

I don't know how they have jobs when theres people in the forums with a lot more simple but effective ideas.

My English Class has to do presentations on something you're passionate about, and mine is going to be on Big Brother. I'm doing it tomorrow, and I've got my speech ready and everything. I'll make sure to spend a bit of time talking about BB14, showing the house pics and mentioning that it starts tonight ;)

I'm sure most people we know don't have Nielsen boxes so it won't make any difference whatsoever

Whether you watch or don't watch a programme, it only affects official ratings if you have a special kind of box which records your viewing habits

I talk about it non stop in school so people know it's back, people have been asking me when it's back too.

I've shared the eye logo loads of times with the start date and time too, as well as Twitter

Erm that's not true.

Theres only about 5000 home with barb boxes so how do you come to the conclusion that's all they take into consideration?

They survey people I think, and I'm guessing there's a formula which lets them generalise.

Uh, yes they use neilsen boxes which are placed around the country and come up with an estimate overall audience figure. It's never 100% accurate but that's what they do.

But this type of thing is so outdated now, with the inclusion of +1 channels, iPlayers and other ways of watching shows.

I know they do.

I was saying that's not all they base the viewership on.

so, if 1 million people watch a Big Brother episode, but none of the 5000 households watch it, then how do they recorded the ratings as there was still 1million people watching it? :conf:

Would it just be straight up illegal to have a thing in your tv connection that tells your provider what your watching?

I know, I know privacy issues. Full circle though with this being a "Big Brother" forum.
