I've read a few threads on here about the low ratings of last night BB launch. My question to you guys is: Do you actually care about the ratings? if i'm honest i don't, I don't care who is watching Big Brother and who isn't as long as a enjoy it.
Please tell me why you care, if you care :conf:
I do care because the lower the ratings are the more likely it'll be axed.
If the ratings drop too much it will end up axed again.

Because if the ratings are dire then the chances of Channel 5 cancelling it and it disappearing off our screens is a big possibility.
Thought that was obvious.

No. I don't care how many people watch a show as long as I watch it and enjoy it, I watch some of the lower rated shows in the UK, and I feel the ratings they have to go on can justify more series.

Without good ratings it isn't commercially viable. Jeff Ford revealed it was only just making C5 money and they seem increasingly reliant on PP deals to fund the show to make a profit..
I would have thought that ratings would matter as to if a programme gets axed or not. Same would go for BB I would guess at if it doesn't pull in the viewers. That is probably why some would worry about ratings if one of their favourite programmes could get axed, nothing really to do with how much an individual likes a programme.

For some reason it's more exciting when you know more people are watching, but other than that I don't really care.
It see it as a bit like watching a film on TV that you already have seen and if it were on DVD you wouldn't have bothered with, for some reason because others are watching it's suddenly a bit more exciting.

Big Brother was axed before after BB10 when the ratings were incredibly low and they had the 'final series' BB11 where things didn't improve here we are three years later with our favorite TV show still running just on a different Channel. Lets be honest if Ch5 gets rid of Big Brother its going to lose viewers. Finally, Big Brother is coming to an end regardless of ratings, after this series I can see BB15 being the last

Yeah, I understand what you mean when you put it like that, over the years me and my mates used to watch it every year now only two of us care.

They did improve.
BB10 averaged 2.5
BB11 averaged 3.0

Yes, because if the figures aren't good enough it'll be axed and we'll probably end up with three ****ing CBB's a year  and then I'll switch off.

It was still not to the heights of BB6/BB7 time. As far as i'm aware since BB moved to Ch5 ratings haven't improve significantly, yet the still singed a new contract for this year and next

2 million is a lot of people - it is 10 times the population of Wales.

You seem a bit clueless.
Noone said or even considered it being as big as the old days but a 3 million ratings would have been considered a success.
If the ratings had been big then Channel 5 wouldn't even consider cancelling it but last nights ratings was terrible.
You asked why we care and that's why.
I do care because the lower the ratings are the more likely it'll be axed.
This, and I want Big Brother to go on as long as possible because
a) it's the best show ever and
b) I want to get on the show which means it'll have to be on for at least another two more years

I'm not clueless, I just enjoy Big Brother for what it is. I don't constantly worry about whether others are also watch it, nor do I worry if it's going to be on next year of not.

Well that's your very unpopular opinion.
You asked if we care in your title to which pretty much everyone has said yes.
Im sorry does that not answer your question?

Assuming you're not joking, it's 1 million less than the population of Wales.

Only in the sense that if the ratings are deemed too low, they will scrap normal BB and concentrate more on CBB. I hate CBB :bored:

I enjoy the show when it's on, but if it's axed, I won't be utterly devastated. I got over Lost ending, so I'll get over BB easily.
There's enough stress in the world, without worrying about BB ratings, quite frankly. So, no, the ratings don't matter to me. I'd actually rather less people watch, to give the fame-hungry ones a reality check.
But, each to their own of course.

I have never missed a BB series but this lot ..no thanks .
I will not watch that clown Rylan on BBBOTS,it was bad enough when Emma did it .
And the live feed is on at 7pm that's to early imo,I would have preffered it to be on for two hours after the main HL show.

When C5 got the show they should of given it 2 or so years break and then much more would tune in

I love a good metaphor.
