Does gay cop dan beat the bb stereotype? I think so! Hes not over the top camp he looks fit and has class and morals unlike previous gay male big brother contestants!

He seems okay, I think he can be a good housemate and good for this series.

He seemed very camp to me. very stereotypical.

If anything he's reinforcing the stereotype that gay cops can't cut it, they're all just interested in fame and glamour. In his VT he said he got caught in his pants after passing out from drugs and alcohol in a club, right? so it sounds like he lives up to all of the worst stereotypes about gay men, they are all on drugs, and into the club scene.

but it's really too early to tell. This is just first impressions.

he's definitely very camp though. He's definitely not masculine. he's very fem, but there's nothing wrong with being fem.

Not really TBH. The fake tan and clothing was a big give away.

As a gay man I think he most certainly does... I'd say even some of the most straight acting gay men I know have a camp side to them... That being said just because he dresses well, is a fan of a few drinks, works out and has a tan doesn't mean he's a flamer...

I haven't seen much of him aside from his VT but he certainly doesn't seem like a Marco or Brian type... Richard from BB7 I think had a butch side but was still very camp... Dan seems like a beer and football type of lad and could easily fit in to a group of guys just as easily as a group of girls... I honestly can think of any of the other gays from BBUK can that say that...

There was nothing butch about Richard from BB7 AT ALL. He was one of the queeniest guys they've ever had on the show. He only seemed normal because they had the even more queeny and psycho Shabaz on the show with him.

Compared to Shabaz even Alan Carr looks butch.

really Dan wasn't camp? so if Dan was your co-worker, you wouldn't be able to tell that he was gay right away?

I must have a very different definition of camp to the rest of you.

I don't consider myself butch, but i'm definitely more butch than any of the gay guys that have ever been on BBUK.

The least camp gay guy on BBUK was probably Seany from BB8. I'd never guess that he was gay if he didn't say it.

he seems ok to me, but hardly defeating any stereotypes. What stereotype is he defeating? the Gay Policeman?

he seems like a great guy, he seems like he's up for a laugh and like you could have intellectual conversations with him, i say the same for him as for most of the other housemates this year, and that i'd love to be in there with him/them

He reminds me of someone I used to date who when was on the job (as a policeman) you would never guess but then we would go clubbing and the hand jestures and mannerisms would scream homo.

I broke it off.

So in conclusion yes Dan seems gay but not overly which is a nice change from the likes of Marco and the disgustingness of Dennis BB9.

I forgot about Dennis. Dennis was by far the worst. I think we can all agree on that. Vile piece of ****.

This is what I thought from his VT then he ran across the stage like a puff D:. He is quit camp. maybe he was just nervous last night.. I'm overly cam when I'm nervous for some reason.

There seems to be a lot of gayness on this forum actually.

Didn't realise how many members were a friend of Dorothys.

So far he seems to be better than a lot of previous gay men that have been in BB, I meant to hit no though, not yes.

Although he has a child, and doesn't seem overly camp, he still comes across quite gay.

The stereotype I refer to is the bb one- the overly camp screaming for attention look at me look at me type- I am bisexual and I dont act or look gay but certain mannerisms could be passed as more feminine- as for the person that mentioned drugs your wrong because he dont mention that- and also he said he was in a pub not a club so thats something else untrue

Aggree with emma when she said will his detective skils sus michael out

Loving this years bunch!

Too-tight t-shirts. Check.

Chest hair out in plunging v-necks. Check.

Loves to party and pole dance all the time. Check.

Immediately found his gaggle of girls to gossip with in the first hour. Check.

He's a walking stereotype.

Lostie!

I must have a very different definition of camp to the rest of you.

Camp and effeminate aren't exclusively the same thing. Camp is behaving in a theatrically over the top manner, mainly for a reaction. Effeminate, is, well, being feminine obviously.

Your definition of camp seems to be anything that isn't caveman-style masculine.

As for "you wouldn't be able to tell that he was gay right away?", there are plenty of both camp and effeminate straight guys. You'd just assume they're gay too? Likewise, do you assume all non-effeminate guys are straight?

As for Dan BB14, he has a slight effeminate way about him, but I certainly wouldn't call him camp, and his femininity is no moreso than plenty of straight guys. So, no, I wouldn't say he's a stereotype, certainly not to the levels that BB usually casts.
