Now he's smarting and is looking for the weaker members (as he perceives) to isolate and make his ego feel good again. Seems to me

Not a Dan fan at all. He was nice for about 5 minutes at the start but his true colours are in full view now and it aint pretty. Two faced, bitchy, controlling and downright nasty - yeuch! Yeah I think that as well, he is picking on Jemima as she is the type of HM that usually gets voted out early, she will be up next week with Dex and possibly Gina (they may leave Gina alone if they are under the impression it is a vote to save).

Dan seems a most unlikely ex-policeman. But I could see him as an actor, very easily.

It could be another of the secrets and lies. Dan and Michael both being actors - and knowing each other were too: with Dan being instructed to suss out Michael as a way of drawing attention away from his own role, which is to be the actor who is in there for the long term.
