View Full Version : TIBB so different to the people outside the forum.

Why is it that people on here (incl me) think so differently to people who aren't on a forum:laugh:
Example: When we had the power to nominate people for eviction, No-one on here wanted to nominate Sallie or Gina? Purely for entertainment. But outside of the forum Sallie and Gina were hated like ****. I mean it confuses me. It makes me think that all of us on TIBB are on a different planet to the public.
Another example on Friday the crowd outside where chanting wolfy's name, meanwhile we were slating her :laugh3:. Its quite funny but why is it like this?
..we're the chosen ones..we're always right...
..also, forum members want to have a busy forum by keeping the most controversial/argumentative housemates in....

Yeah I've always thought and wondered about this :conf: its as if the public actually vote as if they are housemates and not viewers who want a good and interesting show to watch :nono::xyxwave:

People on the forums tend to be more hardcore fans than the casuals and the hardcore ones generally tend to prefer to have the bigger, louder characters in
there are certainly more casual viewers than hardcore at the minute..hence why gina and sallie went up

its the same as music site forums. the posters all want rare tracks played and moan about the hits. while the casuals who dont post just want hits and a good time.
same here really we think keep them in they are awful but entertaining. the casuals just think get the bitch out lol

Have to admit, that is how I judge BB myself,as far as I am able to,I try to imagine as I watch it, who would I be annoyed with, who would I want to avoid, who would I want to be there with too as long as I was.
That is what is in my mind when I come to vote for whoever is up for eviction too.
I don't always find the controversy and unpleasantness that can happen as particularly good and entertaining just the same way as I don't want everyone being all sugar sweet and nice to each other all the time too.
What you said about the public voting as if they were housemates too though is a valid point and I think likely the majority of the voting public do in fact operate that way.
You are right,I'd say.

Its something i always think about. But now thinking about it like most of you said, as a casual viewer they just want the bad people out. But here's another question, the people who chant get sallie out and Gina out etc.. I dont think their casual fans tho?

Mindset generally...
Fans - who is entertaining/who is not
Casual Viewers - who do I like/who do I dislike

Forumers have a lot more sense when it comes to saving/evicting certain housemates

..no maybe not casual fans in that they are fans as well but I think because we discuss it more on a forum and see so many views etc, we tend to analyse things more when we're looking at housemates personalities and I think that makes us..(some of us lol..)..less judgemental or at least not making more 'instant judgements' on the housemates like I think a lot of the public do...
..like say Sallie in the first week..the public would think she's a loud mouth attention seeker and vote her out whereas we see being a 'loud mouthed attention seeker' as having potential... I prefer to call us more positive people lol...

I wanted sallie out!, you don't have to be a fowl mouth crack showing fool to make bb entertaining.

I think it's more that, if you're going to dedicate yourself to a forum, then you're obviously a hardcore fan who has watched for years! Hardcore fans know what makes the show, we may have differing opinions on some things, but we all know what makes the show enjoyable and fresh.
As big of a character Sallie was, I'm glad she went in a sense. She showed her true colours in her interview with Emma on Friday night. The only reason I say it is good is because it allows some more housemates to come to the forefront now. Plus we haven't got a lack of big characters either, but Sallie was very OTT.
With the viewers it was a case of... Sallie and Gina are hobby and loud, let's attack them and vote to evict. They can't seem to contemplate that the likes of Gina bring the entertainment value, she is fierce when she needs to be, but it is interesting to see her take those barriers down too lately.

Those of us on forums actually watch the show, every day, those who go to the evictions watches now and then, they aren't hard core fans.
As for the eviction crowd chanting Wolfy's name, they were just feeling sorry for her, it wont last.

forums are incredibly different to the casual viewers in terms of favourite characters lots of the time and noticeably the first eviction.

You have just said exactly what my Mum said when I asked her this on the phone a short while ago.
What is even more uncanny is she said it word for word too.:joker:
(Her favourite is Dan by the way).

I don't believe any of us are more enlightened in here than out there really, we are as much 'The public' as everyone else and views are pretty similar especially when it comes to a HM being an arse.
So I think that despite losing big characters, some of them are just bad picks from the start and get exactly what they deserve. ( most of the time)
The one thing that is important to me personally is that HM's have some shred of decency about them and are reasonable. I want to be entertained yes, but not at the expense of someone being singled out and made to feel isolated. Not many people on here or outside will put up with or enjoy it.
Not being a stickler for a boring house I just think there's more to a successful BB HM than bitching or being OTT.
You can be entertaining without being a twat.

Casual fans don't go looking for BB news, that is the difference.

Im a forum person but I wanted Sallie out and I don't think that shows that im boring. In a way im glad shes gone because other people can come to the surface and maybe I see different traits to people on the forum as to what makes an entertaining housemate.
Because we think too much
..ok, I've given this some thought...
..I think on a forum all we have is the written word and there's no point or interest in looking at a blank page, so we tend to be drawn to keeping in louder/controversial/eccentric housemates and that's who we want saved from eviction because otherwise, we would be looking at blank pages or bland posts etc..it's the more controversial housemates who create more discussions which is what any forum is generally about..I think that applies to other topics as well..Soaps etc, obviously we want to discuss exciting storylines, rather than the 'nice' people sitting having a chat over their cup of coffee...
..that doesn't mean to say that those would be the people we would chose as friends in real life, in many cases, probably the opposite because we often go for the finer qualities and don't always want drama in real life..well, some people do obviously, but a lot don't..so maybe the 'more casual' fan or the people who vote..?...just have a good v bad opinion because they don't discuss it all at so much length as forumers do..it's maybe more black and white to them..if they think a housemate is unpleasant in any way then they vote them out and if they're quieter..(which we deem boring..)..they tend to keep them in longer..I don't know, just a thought...

It's annoying that some viewers want the entertaining housemates out first! Its like do they want to watch boring housemates? Don't they get BB is a entertainment show??
Bring back vote to save and keep the entertaining housemates to the final :D

I don't think there's that much difference in the opinions in general.
Sallie and Gina were/are pretty hated/unpopular on here too. It's just the forum tends to think a little bit more logically about what is good/bad for the series. The casual viewer is basically "I hate her, get her out" but after so many years of the show the hardcore viewers think a bit more about how much effect an evicted housemate will have on the show.

Having an interest in big brother I see that some HM'S have a very negative effect on the dynamic of the house. A toxic personality can stifle and suppress many other people that would otherwise make excellent HM's, the behavior some see as entertaining can have a really detrimental effect on the whole series.

I think the biggest example is when Aaron won BB12 or the massive Marcus Akin following in BB10.

They were incredible moments tbh. When Marcus stayed over Freddie there was a big celebration thread
And when Aaron won was glorious. All the idiots on Facebook that thought he'd be the first evicted in the final haha.
You do get weird favourites on here though, this place was obsessed with Deana last year, that drove me away, I hardly came on, it was bloody awful.
Also there's a strange obsession with Steph from BB8, even though she was there for like a week. Never quite understood that one.
