View Full Version : Polite Request re: Entertainment value!!!!
Jords

Can the digs about members not understanding entertainment and wanting the "most" entertaining out please stop. I get that we need to keep some of the bigger characters but people see entertainment in all sorts of ways, plus likability is a big factor (in my opinion Sallie really had this because she showed plenty of moments of having compassion... some of the remaining HMs do not!)
Its getting really tiring especially from the same members.
Also I have seen hypocrisy amongst wanting to keep in "the entertainment".
Most entertainment-seekers would probably agree that entertainment in BB stems from creating "talking points". I have just seen for example a Gina fan hark that she should remain in the house because of this, yet in the same breath want Dexter out, both who create such "talking points" (in fact probably Dexter more so).
And thus this leads me back to the bit in bold.
This isnt targetted towards any type of fan but its getting on my tits now :nono:
Edit: Jumping on the bandwagon accusations - stop this too!

I didn't find Sallie Entertaining at all? i don't define being a bitchy outspoken female as entertaining, yet the constant judgemental attitudes for wanting her out was ridiculous, we all view entertainment subjectively, and i enjoy a bitch, but someone plain nasty i don;'t find entertaining

Fantastic post Jords, it pisses me off no end the way some people year after year just don't get how entertainment is defined differently by different people and the same old entertaining housemate argument is so boring and repetitive.

In regards to Wolfy and Dan, it's not that I don't tolerate different opinions, it's more that people want them out based on ill informed judgements that annoys me. Dan's clearly harmless yet there's a bandwagon people seem to be jumping on which perceive him as this big bad evil thug. I mean come on, he had every right to make fun of Dexter the other day after he threw him under a bus and couldn't provide a logical reason. And Wolfy is apparently a self centred attention seeker because she was distraught that the public think she's ugly and dirty.

I disagree.
Jack follows consistantly who are the big characters you pick and choose based on what you find entertaining (see: Dexter). Either way you both need to stop moaning at members.
Anyway this thread wasnt about picking at specific members.

I agree. That Dexter mention is also a good spot.
Certain members don't like that Dan is disliked for his bitching, but think he should be kept in for it. Yet they want Dexter out when without Dexter, Dan wouldn't have that platform to bitch about him.

Instead of picking out the bandwagon bit how about address that post I made about ill informed judgements?
That's something else I noticed about Dan bashers the night Dan supposedly made fun of Dexter's "stuttering". All of them failed to address people who conflicted their arguments (that Dexter clearly wasn't as innocent as he was being made out to be)

I don't want to address any points about Dan, tbh I don't have much of an opinion on him as a HM. The bandwagon jumping accusations bother me every year in general, not just because it was Dan you were talking about.

Wasting your time Salman, I see Dexter fans all the time saying get Dan thrown out but that's okay yet to me both are entertaining and are my top 2 in the ohuse anyway.
If a Dan fan says the same vice versa they are wrong and being picky.
I am a Dan fan and I have never once said or in any nasty way got at any other housemate but I have been pilloried just for liking Dan.
He is the hate figure this series,I now accept that.
I am off this thread now because to stay on it as a Dan fan would likely see me or another or more of his fans in bother.
Take care Salman.

Im a Dexter fan and I dont like Dan because Im finding him highly annoying thinking hes a know-it-all ("Its definitely Wolfy" talking about another mole) and for thinking he has a right to tell people when they are irritating him (I made a thread regarding this in his argument with Jemima).
My dislike for Dan doesnt involve Dexter at all.

So you tolerate different opinions except when they are ill informed. Yet we are all watching the same show, getting the same information and formulating our own opinions.
This forum and DS both have Dan as least favourite housemate for some reason. Are we all deluded?
95% of the worlds population believe in a supreme being of some kind, are they deluded? They may be, no one knows but who are we to say they are all crazy or indeed, ill informed?

I tend to want the 'bores' out for entertainment value, but I always thought I was in the minority, if you look on Facebook and so on, they almost always want to evict the Sallie-types of housemate. Seems the eviction process agrees to. I don't think it's been too bad with the bandwagon thing this year personally.

I just read a great post by Jords and it hit to the core of some relevant points.
TBH I have not felt like posting this year due mainly to the fact that I define entertainment as viewing pleasure derived from watching the funny tasks, the odd poopah over gossip and the high spitirted arguments that come from food depravation and backstabbing.
I certainly do not find any entertainment is skanky types that deliberately stir things up because they feel that's what the public want to see. like first out this year. I also hate to see pure game players that win year after year by acting to the cameras and my teeth start to itch when bitchiness starts to effect peoples heads as its not something that goes on in real life.
The language and bad habits that creep into the program are disgusting and although we all like a bit of juice in the program, there is no need for actions that pander to the needs of the cyber warriors on the forum who's main aim in life is to constantly attack other members for their views.
I like Callum, Charlie, Sam and a few others but I cant see how anyone can like Gina or Wolfy. They are both playing a massive game (IMO) Gina has no need to be there apart from self promotion and Wolfy is a disgusting foul mouthed, spitting game player, who's constant teary eyed exploits are so clear to see that I find it uncomfortable to watch her. If she carried on like that in real life she would be sectioned.
Anyway I have had my bitch so I will wait for the flack now.

Entertainment is subjective. Some enjoy these arguments, I personally like the unintentionally hilarious housemates, some like the complex ones with a story to tell, there's no black and white really.

Well said Jords
It annoys the hell out of me EVERY series where the usual forum members accuse others of 'not having a clue' or that they 'are not true Big Brother fans' simply because they have a different view of what is entertaining...

Quite why some people cannot accept that others have different opinions is beyond me...

Well I'm not going to change your views because of a "polite request" I don't push my views in others faces so don't see why I should be told to hush up. I enjoy BB being fiery and dramatic with an ounce of fun, I never tell others off for their opinions - fair enough I'll debate these opinions but there's no right nor wrong but I suggest things that would create more talking points and debates, like last year's CBB which was very interesting entering many discussions about Danica (and if most of those threads weren't there.. the forum would be quite dead). If you don't like what I'm saying it's tough because I'm not going to change my views.. I may be in the minority being a Wolfy fan but I'll keep fighting my corner. And fair enough if you're a Callum or Daley fan.

not quite sure what this thread means but i believe in free thought free speech. people can like dislike who they want and think someone is entertaining for whatever reason they like, or not. its opposing opinions which makes you think which makes you question which makes it fun. and sometimes can even make you think differently in real life.

Do you remember when people called Jasmine entertaining. That was mind numbing. She was just loud and an attention seeker. so loud it surpassed and exceeded a level of infuriating.
Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but people would bash down everyone else claiming they weren't entertaining.
