Noone was watching it ,it was just on in the background so I asked If anyone minded if i switch the channel.

Everyone said it was fine they wernt watching anyway including my auntie who im about to get to.

So I switched to Big Brother when all of a sudden my auntie literally shouted * NO NO NO NO! WE ARE NOT HAVING THIS CRAP ON IN THIS HOUSE.

Like I was watching porn or something lol she saw it has filth.

She then told me to turn it off and when I refused and basically laughed at her reminding her she had a BB1 party back in 2000 she stormed over to the tv and literally unplugged it from the wall and said *Im not having that **** on the tv.

Was so shocked.

How can people hate BB so much?

Its pathetic.

And that's my story of the day :)

It has a bad reputation. X Factor is starting to go that way, more and more people feeling embarrassed to watch it. I think if you get people to sit down and watch a good show, they will probably think different.

However, my Dad is fully into this series now. He hasn't watched every night since BB9. My sister said this is one of the best series recently and a few of my friends have said it's a great series.

Why have it on in the first place? If I have company the TV goes off.

It is a good distraction from tedious family small talk

My dad won't watch it, but my mum puts up with it. She agreed that Sallie was a nasty piece of work.

My hubby hates it too, I have to go into the bedroom to watch if he's in, but mum, brother & sister watch it, but they are not avid fans like me I have to say.

Its tv snobbery.
Similar the way people look down their noses at Sun readers.
Always makes me laugh how they'd pick it up & read through it though.

Everyone I speak to hates it :( My Dad used to always go on about how crap it was but it's on all the time so he hasn't really got a say and when I sleep round my Nan's he watches it. :joker:

There is a hierarchy of TV snobbery, BBC 4 viewers look down on people who watch BBC 2, BBC 2 viewers look down on people who watch stuff like the Voice and X Factor, Voice/XF viewers look down on BB viewers, and then finally we look down on people who watch all things like the Valleys or TOWIE

What?

If you need to ask ''WHAT'' it surely shows how you cant understand why having a tv on with guests at home is borderline ignorant.

I agree with this. Except we're definitely at the stage where people who watch TOWIE/The Valleys look down on us now.
