View Full Version : Reason why I think Charlie will win

Now I said this last week that I reckon Charlie has this won. She's been in a lot of storylines, but not been offensive so she has fans and hasn't pissed people off either. Her love triangle and her mother strengthen her basis to win as she has handled both quite well and we haven't had a female winner in a while and we are overdue one, and it'll realistically be her or Sophie that do it for the females. Gina will come 3rd at best (:()
Also most years somebody who has been involved in some form of relationship has gone on to win or do well in the final:
BB1: Craig and Claire - Craig 1st
BB2: Helen and Paul - Helen 2nd
BB3: Kate and Spencer - Kate 1st
BB4: Scott and Nush - Scott 3rd
BB5: Jason and Vanessa - Jason 2nd
BB6: Anthony and Makosi - Anthony 1st
BB7: Pete and Nikki - Pete 1st
BB8: Brian and Amanda - Brian 1st
BB9: Sara & Darnell - Sara 3rd
BB10: Sophie and Kris - Sophie 1st
BB11: Josie and the australian blonde thing - Josie 1st
BB12: Aaron and Faye - Aaron 1st
BB13: Never watched this series

She's been interesting and a genuine cool person..i wouldnt be against her winning it tbh

Well she wouldn't be a great winner (Dexter, Gina, Dan) but she wouldn't be a terrible winner either (Sam, Sophie, twins, Callum, Jackie). She'd be in the 'you've been decent enough I guess' category along with Hazel...hasn't defined the series, but has done more than the dullards to not make it a disastrous result

yea she may be the normal one who comes through to win against the other more controversial characters.....she manages to be tactless yet likeable at the same time...depends a lot what happens with Jackie...1 of the faves

I wouldn't write her BB obituary yet as she may get more air time and we may see more of her personality the next few weeks as the house empties

Oh I know and I'm interested to see how this storyline between herself, Dexter and Callum develops (he may also be able to redeem himself from the dullard that he was if he continues the way he has been the past couple of weeks), I'm just assessing it hypothetically as if the final were tomorrow how I'd feel
In fact, I'll do that for everyone. So so far, if each housemate were to win (or had won):
Great winner:
Dexter
Gina
Dan
Sallie
Wolfy
Okay winner:
Charlie
Hazel
Daley (putting the incident aside)
Disastrous winner:
Callum
Jackie
Jack & Joe
Jemima
Beyond appalling winner:
Sam
Sophie

I never noticed this until now, the showmance formula really is a good gameplan.

agree with some but also disagree with much of that.....sallie for example was an awful bore, but wolfie well at least she was original....if shed stopped with the Im going to win nonsense, she might have won lol
I just don't go alng with the theory always mooted that the ignorant people are more interesting
I think of the housemates , dexter and dan are the most interesting, but I think Charlie and callum also have layers to reveal and that makes them potentially quite interesting. I like that Charlie is cool and doesnt try to hard.
I actually like hazel too in some ways, though she cant be trusted.

Sallie was many things (loud, aggressive) but one thing she was not was a bore. It's not about being ignorant, it's just about contribution for me. If you give us enough to talk about outside the house, you're a good housemate...that's what this show is about after all - discussion. Sallie did more in the first week than many of the housemates have done all series. The show has still been good but there's no doubt in my mind had she stayed she had so much more to offer to the series.
I wouldn't say Deana was ignorant last year but she did contribute a lot and in hindsight she probably defined the series (I didn't really realise it at the time surprisingly). Dexter, Gina and Dan have so far defined much of this series IMO and their contribution has been greater than the rest of the bunch. Things may change of course but that's how I see it at the minute. Charlie and Hazel are in the middle ground at the minute, both went from being bores to getting their own storylines and becoming the centre of a lot of the highlight shows, the reason they aren't in the top bracket yet is because there's yet to be the longevity, if it continues they could easily move up (moreso Charlie I imagine though, now Daley's gone I can't see Hazel doing much). The others I mentioned like Callum, the twins and Jackie have had their moments but they've not really made much of an impact as opposed to the other housemates and would really be pretty awful winners. Callum could move up though as I said if he continues the way he has been in the last two weeks, he's gone from fence-sitter to starting this bizarre storyline with Charlie and of course there's the constant ongoing debate about his personality.
And then Sophie and Sam...well other than tonight's show when Sophie seemed to speak up for the first time ever and Sam's minor 48 hour flirting session with Jemima in the first two days neither of them have done anything worthwhile and if they left tomorrow nothing would change, hence why they would be dreadful winners. Sadly, I think one of these two will win. They're your typical sit-on-the-fence, nice person but does **** all for the show winner.

Sallie was one of the most bring people Ive ever seen
I don't think a person who sits n the fence is necessarily boring. interesting people choose their moment to speak up....sadly gina for example cries wolf so often I don't listen anymore...gina is too much of a ne dimensional caricature..I agree sophie and sam haven't been interesting enough.....I like more complex people , with more layers, for me dexter or Charlie would potentially be good winners

For me it's not just about how much you do it's about the quality and relevance of what you do.
Sally was just all noise, hot-air and very little substance as a person or as a BB housemate and that's why she had no real competition for first person out. Nobody else came close in the first week to being as obnoxious and intolerable as her. She has absolutely no class, style or self-awareness!:nono:
She was like one of those really annoying flies that dive-bombs you and buzzes you right in the *****ing earhole and luckily the viewers reached for their fly swatters and swatted her right out of the house!
I do like Charlie a lot and i'd be quite happy with her winning, definitely over a lot of the house-fillers but i think that Dexter and Gina have without a doubt been the main substance and key housemates of this year's BB and without them i dread to think what sort of a show we would have had.
While Dan definitely contributed he was never a star of the show for me. He was merely a catalyst who pushed buttons, stirred and agitated others and his snide side really let him down as far as i'm concerned.
I actually think Gina or Dexter still both stand an equally good chance of winning the show. I'm not at all sure either one will actually win though and still have an awful feeling that one of the safe, boring floaters like Sophie or Sam (i actually like Sam a lot as a person) will still win by default but it would make me extremely happy if either Dexter or Gina won!

the other thing about dexy is whilst he holds considerable power , he doesn't come across as controlling, which makes him more endearing. I think he will be too complex to win it, the voters are generally dumb so usually vote for the one dimensional winner like the awful nadia....this is why I think gina will win, take the task where hazel had her cleaning, she monaed throughout yet suddenly the studio audience thought she was sme kind of redeemed Cinderella character? simplistic guff , that seems to work on weak minded voters... I don't think shes a worthy winner at all....Charlie needs to get more attention and air time, she knows it and that's why she wants her mum gone

I know the trend here is to try to be as objective as possible (HMMM maybe a Rachel Rice comparison is apt after all) and root for The Housemate Who Contributed The Most rather than actually have opinions and like/dislike people for what they do, but Sallie kinda ran her course? She gave it all she had but she would've been extremely repetitive and grating if she lasted any longer. Someone of her nature works best as a first boot, she really wouldn't have been that good of a winner.
Also, narrative matters? I know Jack for whatever reason thinks Daley would've been an okay winner (probably "well he gave talking points so he's automatically a good HM" regardless of the fact that the content of his main talking point being a potential RAPE scenario) but from a narrative and moral standpoint he would've been ****ing awful. So what if he pretty much cheated on his girlfriend and grabbed another girl by the neck and threatened her, at least he did something. Like, as objective as you want to try to be I can't see how you can think someone who is probably a rapist is worth rewarding as the winner but thankfully we dodged a bullet with his ejection. My point is that narrative matters, which is why someone like Luke A (who I'm sure loads of people here think is a bore, one of the worst winners ever, etc.) is a completely acceptable winner if only for the fact that good overcame evil and one of the soldiers/outsiders won.
Bringing it back to BB14, Charlie would be a great winner and she's definitely exceeded my expectations of her (whereas Jackie peaked at the start and just kinda sucks now) AND I think there's a good chance she will win! My random prediction is that either she will win or Callum will get second, but not both.

At least two of the females will reach the final. Jackie is out this week so that rules her out. That leaves Hazel, Sophie, Gina and Charlie.
By my reckoning Hazel will be up next week (Gina and Sophie will nominate her) and go. I do think Gina will fall before the final, leaving Charlie and Sophie. Sophie hasn't done enough to win, she may finish 4th, but Charlie will be the highest placing female I reckon. I could be wrong, but she has a very good chance of winning.

I never noticed this until now, the showmance formula really is a good gameplan.
Only if it works. It can also backfire badly. If one in-with-a-chance person hooks up with someone that the public dislike, then they both go down.
Interestingly the exception to this rule is sophie from BB10.

Craig from BB1 didnt win because of a relationship. In fact he wasnt really a favourite until the nasty nick intervention.
That was the defining moment of BB1, and probably the reason for BB's success. It got people talking and watching. It won the show for craig.
I think charlie is in a good position at the moment. She has fans on the outside. She is attractive. She has been flirty, just not aggressively. She has a love triangle storyline, a personal baggage story and an over bearing mother.
She has been funny and she has put her foot in it, more than once. Nothing offensive, just enough to get people talking.
One good peice of drama woild seal it for her, as long as she was seen to be "right". And of course it also depends on who the final three are.
For example, if she were up against dex and gina, people might vote for her just to spite the other two.

BB13 Lauren and Adam, adam 2nd... to fill the gap there :-P
Dexter or Dan would make the best winners this year... I'm not a huge Dan fan exactly but he has played a massive role in shaping the house. He'd be a dead cert to win if he was less biased towards the people he likes, a little less paranoid, and a little more level-headed. He's tripped himself up a few times by getting too emotionally involved / frustrated... something that Dex never does and has served him well. They're actually very similar characters, otherwise... if anything Dex is a little bit too Vulcan (in control of his emotions, logic coming first for those who don't know the reference). If the two could merge into one housemate you'd have a surefire winner.
You may be right about Charlie for that reason. Potential winners like these two (and Gina) have flaws that could see them pipped to the post by a more neutral character like Charlie.
Spencer went really early. Kate had a little thing going with Alex in the final weeks

the reason Charlie shouldnt win is that she spent the first 2 weeks telling everyone how much she was 'in tune' with Callum, now its Dexter, okay to change your mind, but to then treat the first guy like a social pariah makes her a nasty piece of work, get her out with her mother, hate her

I would love Charlie to win. don't think she will win. Gina will problem take it. Sam was lovely last night. sadly he hasn't a hope or has he ? for who Dexter is. he wouldn't be a worthy winner. Sophie hasn't done enough. Dan I don't like. Callum I like. but no hope.
