A live segment will be broadcast at the end of tonight’s highlights episode, in which Sam and Sophie decide whether Callum, Dan or Jack and Joe will join them in the safe house and become the third nominee.

However, unlike previous Monday live segments – which saw directors cross straight to the house – tonight’s will be fronted by Rylan, who will also appear on BOTS afterwards with AJ Odudu.

Tweeting about the news, Rylan said: “Presenting part 4 of the @bbuk main show tonight! Bit nerve! Then @bbbots straight after with @AJOdudu.

“It’s @Emma_Willis day off, hope she’s sunbathing on my behalf.”

It is the first time in Big Brother UK’s history that the main show will be anchored by a personality other than its official presenter.

During its Channel 4 years, Davina McCall was almost always on hand for such instances – with bosses opting to cancel a live special during the 2010 series rather than proceed without her when it emerged she wouldn’t be able to make it to the studio on time.

However, Willis stood in for McCall for one episode of spin-off Big Brother’s Big Mouth during the seventh Celebrity run in 2010, when she had entered the house as part of a task.

Big Brother’s Little Brother star Dermot O’Leary was also kept on emergency standby for the 2001, 2003 and 2006 public series as a result of McCall’s pregnancies.



Tonight’s Big Brother airs at 10.00pm on Channel 5.

it's funny how angry everybody is about this :laugh:.
he's a great presenter and if people took the time to watch him and judge him from a non-biased point of view maybe their opinions would differ because he is a perfect fit for the job.

Ahh Rylan aint so bad really. For a complete newbie to presenting, he's pretty natural and even competent. At least compared to certain other presenters who were added to BBBOTS this year who supposedly had previous experience but who apprently can't even read an auto cue correctly.

My problem is one of two scenarios, either:

A) This is one of the special live shows that Davina used to do midweek when there was some special twist. If that is the case then Emma should be presenting this, she is the main show presenter and such a live show should've been pencilled in for her weeks in advance so she knew she'd be working today. If he is presenting the entire show in the way Davina used to, that's not good enough. He isn't the main presenter, Emma is.

B) He's just presenting the fourth part which is live (as I assume is what's happening). In that case...why does it need a presenter when it hasn't had one for the last five weeks when it has gone live? Why all of a sudden do they need someone to present and read some links out when they've just cut to a live segment no problem before? It's as if they are just giving him the opportunity to present on the main show for the night, like a mini promotion for one evening...and that isn't good enough either. Why are they now making up roles just so that he (or if AJ got this gig it'd be the same) can do some extra presenting? If it had a presenter every week when it went live then I wouldn't have an issue, but it's the first time it's going to have one and I don't see why it needs one, hence why it appears like they've just decided to give him a role on the main show tonight. And that's just not right, again, Emma is the main show presenter...not Rylan. As I've already said, I like him, I like him on BOTS...but this is far too strange a gig they've given him for me to be alright with it.

It's a foregone conclusion that he'll be terrible at this (he's never not terrible!) but i just hope he doesn't totally ruin it by reading out the 'punch line' first.
