View Full Version : Should outside life factor into BB?

For example, when deciding who you want to win or evict, should what we know or have been lead to believe factor into it, or should people just base it on what has happened in the BB house?
Should be based on how the housemates are in the house imo

Absolutely not
When every housemate walks in on launch night, they are fair game and on a completely blank slate as far as I'm concerned, it's what they start adding to that slate that determines whether I'm gonna like them or not (the ones that still have a blank slate in week 6 *cough Sam and Sophie* I don't)
For example, Gina's lifestyle is exactly the kind I despise and in the outside world I really wouldn't like her, but this is TV...I'm not interested in that
I also feel like this is how people should treat CBB too, even if I like some of the celebrities outside of the house they're still all on a level playing field for me, and even if one of my favourite celebrities went in and they were dull, I'd still want them out

Well,Remeber everyone in uproar over Daley having a GF on the outside? So i think it does factor into peoples opinions,I don't think Daley would have won even if the safehouse stuff had'nt happened due to him and Hazel flirting while he was in a relationship.

The most ridiculous case of this in recent times regarding viewers and housemates is the foxhunting reason when people nominated Harry/viewers wanted to evict him..such a ridiculous reason when it had no bearing on the house, and I think it was only in week 2 they started to nominate him for that out of the blue

I had that in mind when starting this thread.

No, not at all... This isn't Who Do You Think You Are, and I 100% believe in basing opinions on HM's whilst inside the house

Yeah I think it's acceptable to bring stuff that's happened outside into account. If someone's a complete and utter twat outside the house then I'd want to know. Especially if they are acting all innocent and nice in the house.

Absolutely. These people don't exist in a vacuum.
And if someone like Gina has pulled the wool over BB's eyes then I certainly want to know about it.

The problem with that though is that how they are outside the house is usually hearsay.
Not really fair to judge someone based on stories sold about them on how they might be. Gina's a good example of this, we're fed stories of her greedy, rich lifestyle but then also the rumours of a council flat. You can't take tabloid trash seriously.
As much as the editing can be dodgy you can only truly judge from what you see for yourself. And whether she lives it up in the Savoy, or slums it out on a council estate Gina's a bell end.
Sometimes their outside life is a big part of who they are in the house and that's when it can become an issue. Like with Gina, the fact that she is a spoilt, idle, rich girl has been what's partly defined her a housemate, with how her boyfriend always says she deserves to stay because she's going on a real 'journey' in there learning to take responsibility for things more and live with other people from different walks of life for the first time. It's similar with Dexter, him saying that in his outside life he has no friends and lives in quite a dog-eat-dog way, but the house is starting to make him question that. If the stories about both of their outside lives are complete rubbish then that should therefore be relevant to how they're perceived

No. I don't care what housemates do on the outside.

Generally not... especially when it's generic tittle-tattle from ex-lovers.

I think that's fair enough really. I'm sure if a housemate turned out to have committed a rape outside of the house we'd turn on them, so I don't see the problem with objecting to someone who went/liked foxhunting (I don't know if he did, though, since I didn't pay attention to BB12), it's part of their personality and character after all.

Nope, I judge on how they are in the house, nothing else matters tbh. Only time their outside life has any bearing on my opinion, is on launch and in the very early days, when we only have the VTs to go on.

If they are liars and cheats and con men outside, chances are they are the same inside'

No way. We should judge from what they do in the house. IMO, when they walk in, I have zero opinion on them, I basically avoid the VT and don't go by it because it never reflects what they will be like.
Harry from BB12 and Adam last year are examples of this. Adam was in a L.A gang... he came 2nd.

Yes. I remember being annoyed every time it happened. I'm against fox hunting but he wasn't doing it in the house grrrrr :D
Yeah, because if Dexter win's he'll be even more insufferable on the outside.
