Why do some people dislike Dan for being intelligent?

But why do people seem to actually dislike Dan for being clever? Yes it's annoying that he seems to know everything but it's not something that people should evict him for over Sam and Sophie imo.

He questions so many things that happen in the house, of course he is going to be right once or twice. He has gotten about 50 + things wrong, and two or three things right. Not really great results

I don't dislike him for being intelligent. I do blame him for the lack of common sense to keep his cards close to the vest. He has no idea if he's guessing things that will lose a task. He also has no appreciation for how sharing that kind of info hurts him in the house.

He's more interested in showing off than he is in getting ahead, and it ends up with him having pouty strops like he's done last night and again today over his place in the pecking order. Instead of telling everyone "this is what's going on, so change your behavior accordingly" he'd do better to figure things out, act on his own, and let everyone else hang themselves or figure it out as natural selection has given them the ability to do so.

100% right, it is amazing the attacks on him,I admit he has flaws, they all do as I do too.
Every single one of his though becomes major event and thread on here.
He doesn't like Callum,he gets slammed for that, Dexter belittles Callum every chance he gets but is a hero for it.

Sophie is quite selfish, okay when she gets her own way, you can though easily see the nastier side when she is displeased at even the smallest of things.
Yet, being so dull and inactive, she would be preferred to support and stay if it got Dan out.

You have hardly been on here through this series and have worked that out already, you and Dan would make a pretty good pair.:hugesmile:

quite agree with the comments about dan we're not saying he is perfect as a viewer I would much rather watch him then sophie I think is not everyone cup tea but he is loyal look how he is with hazel when Charlie was getting to callem he stuck up for him like him or loath him good hm

And in terms of intelligence, Dan is not that intelligent, he's about average.

There is a point where honest opinion becomes plain rudeness. Children learn to hold their tongues because it's not acceptable to tell people what we think of them in most situations. Being opinionated is not the same as being intelligent and can, in fact be very annoying and boring.

In general people of higher intelligence are disliked by people of lesser intelligence. It's a complex situation involving jealousy, lack of trust and the "ficker" people projecting their own insecurities onto the "smarter" person.

I'd say the average IQ on these boards wouldn't be too sky high(plus from a lot of the posts I have read over the last few months I would say that average age of posters here is quite young), so that kind of tracks with the general Dan hate I have seen here.

Add to that he is an ex-cop and the general predilection amongst younger people for not liking police officers(or outright being young thugs and hoodlums themselves who may have had negative experiences with the police)and it's a perfect storm of negativity towards Dan.

He is clearly one of the more intelligent of the housemates but most of the twists he has uncovered because he seems extremely paranoid, which isn't surprising in a game show called SECRETS & LIES.

I think it's amazing how he works everything out, he hasn't got much wrong. he worked out Michael was an actor, he had a crazy gut feeling Gina and Dexter were in a safe house, and now he has a sneaky feeling that the safe house isn't very safe, he spot on with what he says, what i don't like is his girly dancing about and how B**chy he is, i mean i've worked with girls/women most of my working life up until now, and wow i've never known nothing like, but Dan takes it to a whole new level. lol

Hi Mockinator :thumbs:...It's not that he's intelligent that I have taken a dislike to Dan buddy...it's that the guy is too smug for me! :nono:

...but of course we all see it differently...you may think that my favourite hm's Dexter/Gina is smug?....and I suspect that you might agree with Joey that Sam is far too boring to collect the prize money...but they are my top three, and tbh I can't say that I really care what order the rest of them finish!...and when all's said and done, it's only a game..and perhaps we might agree on the next celebrity winner. :hugesmile:

I like all those and can see faults in all as well as many good points too as I do Dan too.

Dexter has had reason to seem smug at times when he has been put up for eviction so many times and survived.
Gina had a lot of problems with some housemates early on and rose above it all too.
Sam is totally harmless and I loved his chat with Callum in the task the other night, that was the bst thing I have seen on BB this series.

Then obviously I really like Dan, he has stirred things, he is annoying but he is always doing and saying something and that is why I think he certainly deserves to stay tonight.
Ironically it is also why I feel near sure now that he won't because he is so high profile of the 3 up.

By the way...I really like Dexter then Gina most but would like Sam to win, because I feel that would be the best place for the money, for obvious reasons. :thumbs:
