I skip those now. I totally agree, they really spoil the highlights shows.
It's like those old American TV detective shows like Columbo. They show all the best bits at the start as a teaser. Spoils the programme.

I find them useful when I've missed some shows.

I'm on about the old days, it takes the piss now though, I swear if they use Dexter's 'I sense a storm brewing!' quote that he used 2 weeks ago again I might end up punching the tv.
To be fair though, sometimes the opening doesn't give anything away. Would you have guessed that Daley was going to get ejected and would have had Hazel pinned down to the bed by her throat based on the intro from that highlight's show?
I quite like them, think they always do a pretty good job of drawing in people and making the upcoming episode sound intriguing

I hate the opening VT. It's just so tacky and badly edited.

Not necessarily, they might just flick on and it'll persuade them to keep watching, not everyone who happens to catch the opening seconds of a show intends to watch the whole hour of it
*Thunderclap. Zoom in on face.*

I like the opening VT's. They (most of the time) persuade me to watch the rest of the show.

They are so tacky, cheesy and overly edited. Easily the worst part of the show.
