View Full Version : What is Charlie's Biggest problem?

I have been wondering what Charlie's biggest problem is. I think she often talks for the sake of talking. In my opinion one of her biggest problems is that she just doesn't seem to have many firm views on issues. Charlie is constantly seeking approval on her own opinions and if you don't agree with something she has said there is a good chance she will back down or change her language to be in line with your thoughts. I know young children who have more conviction & tact in what they say whilst in conversation with others. :spin:
What do you think?

Biggest problem seems to be some sort of emotional retardation.
Or it may be cos her grandma died on top of her! Lol! :D

Without a doubt (just as pointed out on Saturday night) her controlling mother. She has never been able to have her own views so just doesn't know how as a grown up.

One of them is definitely her inability to listen or take on board what anyone else says, she just puts her head down, stares at the floor and continues whatever diatribe has just entered her head.
Whatever can Callum see in her that we can't?

Her gameplan.
It all goes t*ts up when she drinks.
..she doesn't seem to have any social skills or sense of boundaries in how she interacts with people which I find odd because her mum seems fine around people...

I wish Dexter and Callum could, JOINTLY, take her aside and tell her a few home truths.
That would spoil the game plan somewhat! ;)

I think she is still missing her mom, understandable tbh, give it a few more weeks and she will be ok, she's a very sweet girl but she is struggling without her mom.

..I'm not sure she will tbh, I thought she was maybe shadowed by Jackie's personality and I wanted to see her on her own but now that we have, I feel the only 'interesting' thing about her is the attentions from Dexter and Callum and their dynamics..Charlie on her own doesn't seem to have much character other than to say the wrong thing which isn't even to the extent of being amusing...it's just irritating....

..oh thanks fingers, I didn't realise she was as old as that, she really is quite immature for her age...

i disagree - well brought up young lady with self respect - speaks her mind and stays quiet if she feels not confident.
nothing wrong with that.

Really?she opens her mouth and does not engage her brain before she speaks regardless of confidence or up bringing, if I had a 10 year old who said the things Charlie said I would take a long time explaining the consequences of what she said including how she could potentially make people feel and therefore if they would go on to be her friend or not.

I think her lack of self-esteem and being so extremely impressionable is her downfall. She is like a tick clinging to a blade of grass jumping to the next host that comes along that will feed her ego or give her blood ;).
But seriously, that is probably why Callum likes her and works with kids - they are all very impressionable and absorb the views and opinions of the people they are speaking to at the moment.

Her mum seems like a very opinionated person and possibly unknowingly never accepted any opinion from Charlie. Charlie has opinions, she niavely speaks from her heart but never means harm by it. Her constant need of back up for her opinions can only mean that in her homelife...however stable she has never been given credit or understanding for her opinions.... maybe thats why she rebelled with drugs etc...

It is unnatural for someone Charlie's age to be unable to cope without her Mum after a week or so.
The mother is too controlling and does not allow her to make her own descisions.

Her mother has protected Charlie throughout her entire life, and as a consequence she's never lived in the real world.
Inside she is still 12 years old.

Agree 100%
Jackie not only dictates to Charlie what to think but why.
When Charlie gaffed about feeling fat in front of Wolfy she had to seek out Jackie to explain why? Likewise she needed her mother's counsel to sort out the Hazel's ex boyfriend suicide gaffe when it was obvious why it was a horrendous and insensitive qustion.
As Jemima correctly pointed out in row with Jackie (but worded poorly) Jackie treats Charlie like a baby and does her thinking for her. When asked if she'd date Dexter, Charlie never got to answer as Jackie confidently laughed "no way", whereas Charlie was probably going to say "not sure, maybe not but not sure".
Charlie also has poor communication skills

She is a housemate that has gone way down in my estimation. She was in my top 5 for ages but Im totally SICK of her now. She is acting like a child not a 27 year old. When Jackie left Charlie should have come into her own but she is going downhill all the way. Hazel has been quite a good friend to her and now she has turned on her also. She secretly adores all the attention from Callum and Dexter and instead of telling them thanks but no thanks she looks dreamily into the air and says she has a 'connection' with Dexter but doesnt FANCY him. She let Callum be all touchy feely with her for a week or so then more or less told him back off. And the saddest thing of all is that if Charlie and Hazel were up this week Im sure its Hazel would be evicted. Charlie is the secret manipulator but alot of people havent seen it yet. Very disappointed as thought she would be a good housemate. On the flipside Dexter is after soaring into my top 3. Quite like him now lol

If she stopped saying YA YA YA YA and talking with her hands her brain might function.
