View Full Version : Hazel - a clever passive aggressive manipulator

I hadn't seen any of so-called "cucumbergate" and so was interested to see what happened.
From listening to some people on this Forum, I was expecting a drunken, shouting Charlie to be haranguing Hazel and to have clearly used the Daley situation as a way of showing up Hazel.
But what did we see? A slightly but not really that drunk Charlie make a stupid comment about Daley that she quickly retracted but which Hazel (being the clever and nasty piece of work she is) would not let go. Charlie kept saying she was sorry and retracting it, Hazel kept going on and on and on about it.
Then we hear from Hazel that she did not use the word aggressive when we clearly all heard she did - as Callum correctly confirmed. Now this may seem a storm in a teacup and in fact that is what it should have been.
Instead, Hazel had manipulated a situation to make it about something it wasn't - Daley. If Hazel had not commented at all on that Charlie tongue slip, there would have been no argument, no drama, in fact it would probably not have made the highlights and been forgotten. But by making such an issue of it, Hazel has cleverly turned it into something else - an issue of trust about Charlie, yet again throwing the spotlight away from the elephant in the room. The fact that she has still not properly told the remaining HMs what actually happened with Daley.
One thing is clear - we saw it with Dexter and the vanilla comment and with Callum when he queried her behaviour with Daley. Hazel does not like even the slightest hint of criticism of her behaviour and will become very passive aggressive, staring in a initimidating way at her target.
She is a nasty nasty woman. You have to be quite nasty in dealing with her when she adopts this attitude - give her a few stares back and repeating again and again that she is wrong.
And unfortunately it looks as if the Twitter/Facebook crowd have fallen for her victim approach over this incident when she is in my opinion far from it. Very disappointing.

I think they all have suspicions about the "Daley Incident" the only one who didn't was Dan.
The camera used for the HL show was different from the LF one, the LF one showed only Hazel's horrified reaction to "Daley" while the HL camera showed one of the twins looking shocked and turning to Hazel before she reacted. We can only hope that the WHOLE truth comes out before she gets evicted.

Charlie WAS haranguing Hazel. From room to room to room to room even though no one in the house was backing her up.

And Hazel did admit to saying aggressive., She first thought they were talking about her chat with BB.

Hazel is a clever EVIL passive aggressive manipulator
I don't think Hazel was being manipulative. The "how Daley felt" comment was awkward and very uncalled for.

Charlie was a pain in the arse and a bit of a nob but Hazels response was very telling and not very clever.
Her intentions were very transparent.

Not manipulative at all, the Daley comment was just beyond stupid and Charlie should have kept her mouth shut

Hazel never does ANYTHING spontaneously, every move is calculated and timed to perfection, even her Death Stare.

Gina laughing at it all was the appropriate response. Both Charlie and Hazel were being a bit manipulative, over nothing.

Charlie was wrong in this whole situation and Hazel had every right to re act. Gina will always laugh at anything that defames Hazel. She laughed right in her face the night she had to wear the snake costume. Hazel shouldnt be branded as an evil manipulator when the whole of the blame for this incident getting so bloody out of hand was silly Charlies. She has been a very disappointing housemate after she starting off with good promise.

as Callum correctly confirmed.
What the same Callum who about 10 minutes earlier swore blind he never agreed with Hazel when she said Charlie was being aggressive (he did btw) :spin:
The whole thing was ridiculous to start with, Callum in full on guru nanak mode attempting to usurp Dans role as chief Hazel shoulder to cry on pumped her for info when she came out of the diary room. When Hazel calmly explained what happened (that she got a little aggressive, which she did, she became a belligerent drunk as usual) he agreed, and it was THIS that set Charlie off.
Then she brought up Daley, saying 'this is probably how Daley felt' thus suggesting that she clearly feels Hazel somehow stitched Daley up over nothing. Cause thats how she felt and she was about to relate her situation to his. She ONLY retracted it cause she saw their reaction and realised it would cause s**t, you dont have thoughts then speak them aloud unless you think them and believe them. Not unless your a toddler which she is not.
Charlie is a total tit and has done this throughout her time in there. That said none of the 3 involved covered themselves in glory during the aftermath as they all lied repeatedly about what they actually said.

This is the problem for me when people post about Hazel: they say she's either 100% wrong or 100% right! She denied that she said Charlie was aggressive and then had to correct herself because Callum confirmed that she had said it. So she was wrong about that wasn't she?! The whole thing was petty point scoring on both sides and ridiculous. Quite funny though.

I totally agree with you on this... it was a drunken accident but Hazel said in the diary room 'I dont THINK it was intentional'....why would she think Charlie would intentionally stick a cucumber in her eye??? Charlie was frustrated that Hazel and Callum called her aggressive....which they both denied initailly BUT they both clearly said it....that was the point she was trying to cover. Hazel made a meal out of it knowing full well it was an accident....which is why Charlie made the Daley comment thinking her wrongful accusations of her being aggressive could well have been similar with what happened with Daley which resulted in his exclusion....remember none of the housemates other than Dan knew the full extent of what happened in the Safehouse that night and have been left to come to their own conclusions without knowing the enormity of it...
Hazel called her 'friend' aggressive and made a deal about it.... Hazel has never divulged details of what happened to her with Daley to Charlie...so Hazel should not jump down Charlies throat at the mention of Daley in the full knowledge that she doesnt know the full story.

I know that Charlie said 'I heard you say to Callum' but before that she had been talking about Hazel being called to the diary room so I think maybe Hazel thought that Charlie was accusing her of also calling her aggressive in the diary room, which she didn't do.

Charlie was only retaliating in the same way as Hazel, but because she was drunk missed and it went in her eye. Hazel blew it into something else by saying she was 'aggressive', Charlie ****ed up again by mentioning 'Daley', Hazel continued to blow it up by thriving off the fact Charlie mentioned 'Daley' and Charlie further continued it by not letting it settle down.
Very annoying (and not to mention boring) argument. Nobody was really in the wrong but Hazel made it more dramatic than it had to be.

Jegmeister, I agree with absolutely everything you have said. If there is the slightest hint of criticism of Hazel's behaviour (or life), she makes it into a camera-hogging major issue. Charlie is just very naive, like an untrained puppy, hence backalong, her immediate conclusion that Hazel's ex may have committed suicide because they broke up. Charlie also probably thought that it was a sort of compliment to Hazel that anyone should feel so deeply about her. But Hazel made it into an issue. And then had the nerve to summon Charlie (while she sat next to Dan) for a 'forgiving' hug when she had exhausted all avenues of attention over the incident. Cucumbergate is the same. If we haven't seen a hug yet, we will but it will be after this incident has given Hazel major air time.

Charlie was in the wrong completely in my view.
When she is out and watches this back, not only will she see she was wrong and in the things she said as to Daley too but she will hopefully see that drinking too much should be a no go area for her.
She becomes a really awful person with drink, not nice to watch or even be with at all.

..I'm not sure how Hazel manipulated that..how could she know that Charlie would compare it in anyway to anything with Daley, the same as when Charlie asked if her boyfriend committed suicide because of her..these things come out of nowhere from Charlie and aren't connected to anything at all...so Hazel should say nothing and let them pass uncommented on..?..these are reactions from Hazel, to things that Charlie has said and anyone would comment on them...
Long and short of it is...they were playing, Charlie no different to Hazel. Charlie was in no way aggressive and it was plain stupid for her to even use the word. That word is far overused in that house as means of making other people look bad. Charlie was not that drunk and for Hazel to try and make herself look better by repeating how sober she was and how drunk Charlie was, was just to make Charlie look stupid. If Hazel would have just owned up to saying it and quit trying to make Charlie look stupid then it wouldn't have had to carry on as long as it did.

Yes I agree. If Callum and Hazel had not behaved like cowards and been honest re the aggressive comment when asked about it,that would have been an end to it. Also Charlie is enough of a verbal car crash without alcohol
