View Full Version : Sam the role model.

There is a clip of housemates speaking about the pass to the finals and in it Sam says he wants to be a role model for kiddies and to showcase his hearing problem etc.
As honorable as that is ( and it is ) do you think that swearing and sexism from Sam on national TV will affect those kiddies watching. Will parents support this behaviour and encourage their children to look up to Sam and emulate him or will they be repulsed?

I was shocked by his foul mouth from the start, that is no role model for my kids, deaf or not. He then went on to his ignorant sexism his childish unfunny jokes, so yes I am repulsed by him. He would however be a good role model for a sleeping dummy in a bed shop.

He has made some boyish comments that are immature and if he wants to be a role model he should curb that.

There's another person in the house who is quite clearly sexist and chauvinistic too but let's not say anything about that sweep sweep.

I cannot believe he is 23!!!.... and he is still talking about his 'winkie expanding'. He is however a lovely boy but he does not deserve to win. People will vote out of sympathy because had he not had a hearing problem he will be one of of the first out on the final night.

not bothered about his language really etc. i just cant stand do gooders. if he said that then its purely for votes which i find to be just wrong. sympathy vote again. totally unfair to the rest and he should no know that and feel guilty about it.
its yet again someone benefiting from pretending to do good. if you want to do good do it quietly, no one needs a role model its utter bull. he is on for ego fame girls and money thats the truth of the matter. not any role model.

if you wanted to be a role model sam go on bb be yourself and dont go on about it. just get on with it. thats a role model not someone saying they are

His maturity is about 10 years behind his calendar age.

Hardly a role model for kids whether they are deaf or not.

He is trying to be a role model for the deaf.
Simply by showing he can lead a normal life and do normal things lads of his age do.

Succeeding very well as far as I can see.

He is hardly going in for sainthood.

what he is doing is like wolfy did im doin this for the fat kids and unhappy people etc
if he was he'd never mention his problem never say that n just be accepted for his personality
see the person not the disability. unfortuantlu even he cant get that right as he wants to win too much

decent enough guy dont like knocking him but he shouldn't be sayin stuff like that using it to win is no role model

I think what smeagol is trying to say is that no one can be mr nice 24/7. We are human beings after all and we all carry traits good and bad, to go nine weeks peddling i am a saint and doing it for the kiddies and those with similar problems and i don't know my alphabet by Sam is pushing it. The reality for everyone is that we are all flawed and have good and bad traits but to go on national tv and try to remove negative traits is not endearing to those watching, it is viewed as calculating and a game plan. It is what it is and if Sam just admitted that i would have at least one ounce of respect for him in saying that.

Aw come off it Kaz...without his impediment, everyone would see Sam as just a slightly childish lazy sod , with a juvenile soh that is just about as exciting as the test card!
...Not particularly nasty, nor overtly annoying ....but nevertheless...unworthy of lasting to the final, let alone winning the damn show!
...And if we were all as honest as we purport to be...then we would declare that his disability does matter to us! And if you deem that enough to want him to win, then that is your choice and I respect your decision! ..I am man enough to admit that that was the road that I was on until a week or so ago...but then changed my mind and now do not believe that it would be right to deprive the real winner of the prize...whomever that would be! [as you know my choice is Dexter, I know that is something that you could never agree with...but I have to say that I also believe that any of the other hm's have contributed a lot more to the series than Sam, and deserve to finish above him!..[except the twins because they get on my tits!]

Sam's biggest problem is not sleeping for most of the day, it is when he is awake and opens his mouth.
Opening night Sams first interaction with Hazel he said.... All i saw was your big boobies.
To the girls on spray tan day: ( i am sorry but i cannot even bring myself to repeat it)
Magic night another comment to the girls to get their kit off.
My winky just expanded to Jemima.
Big boobies.
Watching the girls shower with Callum and sniggering like two school kids looking through the hole in the wall in the girls locker room and many many more on the live feed. All of which ended up on the cutting room floor. Why is anyones guess but those watching the live feed know what i mean.
The bee task they only showed the clean joke and removed the sexist one is also another good example.
Sam often tells others they are rude. He said this to Dexter many times when in reality it is Sam that is the really rude one, he thinks that degrading women on national tv is acceptable behaviour.

Let's not forget dexters indirect sexism... he said if he was a woman he would be a millionaire, why do you think that was?
And I won't even mention the rodeo comment...oops!

...not forgetting his having a different women for different things.
Oh yeah, what was it he said to Jemima again? Something to do with how sexually experienced she was. What a charmer.

Sam has been consistently the one to be totally honest and forthright in his approaches to other housemates.
He explained quite simply what parts of dexters character he disliked about a week back.

Sam has done absolutely nothing, and as for being honest and forthright , he's never awake long enough, the only word in his vocabulary seems to be dickhead. what a role model

Not if he was a priest maybe.
But for a lad of his age the banter was not at all bad.

Sam is not a role model here is a example of his sleazy side,

Sam To Knives Assistant 'Flash Your G**h For Free Pie & Mash'

Wolfy on BB Couch Potatoes talking about Sam last Wednesday. Apparently Sam shouted to the Female knive assistant during Gina's task
'Flash Your Gash For Free Pie & Mash'

Hear it here around the 61:00 mark.

LOLing at the hypocrisy in here taking the moral high ground when stooping to calling HMs Creepy,Norman bates ,phycho etc,WTF,yet they are bemoaning a couple of crude jokes at the same time supporting a self confessed user of women, who swears like trooper and cant seem to tell the truth, infact cant seem to say anything upfront, lol ,We get you dont like 'nice ' people but thank God some of us do.

How does Dexter swear like a trooper? He hardly swears, everyone likes nice people buy Sam isn't as nice as people on here make out.

if he wanted to be a role model he shouldn't even mention it.
Call me cynical here.
But is it any co-incidence if he's mentioning it right NOW before the final ?

For a bloke with supposedly 0 idea what his career path will be, suprised if he hasn't thought about helping and working with kids with hearing difficulties ?

just get on with your life be like others. thats what a role model is, thats the whole point surely.
what he is doing is like wolfy did im doin this for the fat kids and unhappy people etc
if he was he'd never mention his problem never say that n just be accepted for his personality

decent enough guy dont like knocking him but he shouldn't be sayin stuff like that using it to win is no role model
See where you're coming from, it certainly makes you wonder !

Some of the public have objected to the "sympathy" card in voting.

Is Mr "I won't even be up for nomination" now playing the card himself ?!

He mentioned it in his audition video. He's hardly made an issue of it for the past 9 weeks, has he?

Must have been a full moon last night judging by the state of some of the posts on here.

He just wants to show people that deaf people cab lead a normal life to.

That doesn't mean you have to behave yourself just because you're deaf.

He is trying to be a role model for the deaf.
Simply by showing he can lead a normal life and do normal things lads of his age do.

Succeeding very well as far as I can see.

He is hardly going in for sainthood.

I believe that most people with a hearing impairment are doing normal things. leading normal lives, without being patronised by a fairly ignorant man/boy. He is NOT an inspiration in any way IMO .Role model (doing what exactly)is just a tag to hang on to himself as he has nothing else to offer.

Since when were deaf people unable to lead normal lives? That is an insult really and demeaning.

I'm shocked at the venom on here for Sam. Up against the rest of the dickheads in there, he seems like the only decent one.

Sams a nice young man, maybe a tad immature and I'm not quite sure I would use the term role model but he's certainly not a bad lad. I think the not so nice comments on here about Sam are probably coming from people who are worried he is going to win over their favourite hm.

Ok, this is the thing, yes, most deaf people do lead normal lives.
However it is a large amount of people who have normal hearing that do not realise this.
My husband is deaf and I can assure you he does not think Sam is in any way patronising. Quite the opposite.
It is the strangers who first meet him and think because he is deaf that he can't function like the rest of us that are patronising.
This is where I think Sam is a good role model, to show that being deaf does not mean you come from a different planet or that they are stupid.
