I’ve just finished episode 5 already (don’t judge me) and it’s definitely seeming to be the weakest series yet - the first episode is definitely the worst yet but it hasn’t gotten that much better
The mini storylines that the side characters had which made it feel more fun just aren’t there

This should have always been a 3-4 season show with a clear end and overall arc in mind. I think the last season in particular showed that the writers are just winging it until it gets cancelled.

Oh of course it's different. :laugh: There'd be no point to it if the plot was a complete repeat.

But the nature of the shows cast constantly switching and changing is the same, it was only a couple of seasons ago all of the guards were new to replace the old ones. New villains pop up etc.

And the dramatic side to prison life with inmate on inmate violence or guard to inmate violence has been there from the off. Piper spent most of season 1 being thrown from one beating to another.

If there's one thing I liked about the fact like, half the cast was gone, is that we got some interactions we wouldn't usually see... and by that I mean Doggett/Suzanne/Freida lol and even then that wasn't too interesting. Flaca and Taystee were good tho. But seeing more Lorna/Nicky screentime was good <3

talking of Lorna, I'm so worried for her :worry: the blood on her crotch :bawling: and poor Flaca :(

What I don't like is how they didn't show us both prisons (besides like a 2 minute section)? Like I know the focus was Max and Taystee's trial and they were already doing a lot with Litchfield, let alone two prisons, but the other cast was missed. I'll never forget you and your 30 seconds of screentime this series, Boo :bawling:

It only became unsettling for me when I saw the bubbles. While the sisters were pushing

What I did feel was anxiety when Barb shown a 'soft' side and seemed to get along with her sister, supposedly 'warn' her and tell her to get into the car I felt anxiety. Was Carol gonna kill her? Is that why she and Barb had beef? But no, it was all a sneaky plan and it made me love Carol and Barb even more

It was an inmate prayer group thing... I don't think any guards were within earshot and I doubt anyone would tell them about it. Snitches get stitches innit.

I enjoyed this season on the whole. It was a bit slow really, not a huge amount happened until the last few episodes... but the finale was pretty tense as I was convinced that something was going to happen to screw up the release :joker:. They did quite a few "out of the prison" scenes this season, with Doggett (until she turned herself in), Caputo / Fig and Diaz / Guard guy... I'm wondering if there'll be even more next season as I'd imagine Chapman will still be a main character even after release.

I liked that they all tooled up for a battle and then ended up getting too into the kickball game :hee:

My main gripe with this season I guess is that "Badison" is a really daft and irritating name. Like no one would go with it... everyone would just be like "lol that's stupid tho".

(Avoided this thread because... spoilers)
It was ok... but it didn't hold a candle to any of the iconic moments of past seasons. Plus the cookie cutter "the real bad inmates die in the end" format was predictable.

We got to know them over the season.

It's like saying you hate season 1 of any show because you don't know the characters.

But it isn't cause we were all invested in previous characters who's fates have been left in obscurity, and we were given new under developed, unconnectable, poorly acted ones.

It was ok... but it didn't hold a candle to any of the iconic moments of past seasons. Plus the cookie cutter "the real bad inmates die in the end" format was predictable.



But it isn't cause we were all invested in previous characters who's fates have been left in obscurity, and we were given new under developed, unconnectable, poorly acted ones.

How long was Piper actually supposed to have? I'm sure earlier in Season 6 she said she had 4 months left (around October time), but in the last episode (which was after New Year) she said she had 5 months? Did I mishear the 4 months bit? :suspect:
Watson/Nazis gets on the same bus as Flaca at the end of Season 5 so where are they? Or did that bus just make 2 stops? Only two prisons were referenced, Litchfield and Ohio, and Flaca/Watson/Nazi's bus went to Litchfield Max. The other line had Boo and Linda who went to Ohio so I don't see how Watson could've went to Ohio
It was nice we got some details about Stella, Lolly, and (I guess) Healy, and I appreciate this goes way back in Season 1 but, why wasn't Claudette mentioned or seen?!?! She was sent to Max (I mean I guess the only person she would've really talked about is maybe Chapman so she had no reason to be brought up but it'd have been nice to have found out about her somehow)
Will we ever find out what happened to everyone else? I know there's no reason for us to find out what happened to the meth-heads because no one in-universe our in the fanbase cares about them but it'd be nice to hear that like, they died in the washing machine

Great last season that felt more like the first few seasons but with a hint of the seriousness of the last couple, although I do think it felt more like a second to last season rather than the final ever one.
I did find the last episode disappointing though. I’ve been more intrigued with just about every other season finale of the show than I was with this one
I know they don’t want to create the idea that everything is perfect and want to be more realistic but I wish they took more risks with the endings for some characters cause most of them just felt fine. Like Taystee never got justice but is having a good time In prison now? Doesn’t feel impactful enough for the most beloved chacater.

Red and Lorna are slowly crumbling but we don’t see the impacts of it or if they get better

I guess I just wanted some more extreme happy or sad endings for some of the main characters since it’s the last ever season

the intro ****ing got to me

Tiffany really died? I understand that it happens - people get clean and when they go back to drugs they can lose their life (this was pretty much foreshadowed explicitly which makes it feel like it was rubbed in my face :( ) but it just felt nearly pointless to kill her off? Suzanne was already growing as a person and while Doggett's death did emphasise her growth, did it really need to? And Taystee would've still been motivated by seeing Tiff passed even when she was alive, surely?

I'm very confused about Nat's pregnancy? Was she actually pregnant? Did she lie to get pills to help the pregnant woman in ICE? Did she abort and then use extra pills to help the woman? Because we see her and Joe adopting? I really thought I paid attention :(

So on the bright side, Gloria got out and is reunited with her kids :love: and Blanca got justice. It's just a shame Maritza and Karla didn't get happy endings, but neither did hundreds of women in that building.

I appreciate that we got to see what the Ohio crew are up to. Norma, Gina, Yoga Jones, Boo, Brooke :love: and uh, Angie and Leanne too I guess. I know it'd be unnecessary but I would love to see a mini-series documenting what the prisoners in Ohio got up to. The past two seasons (this one especially) stood their ground without them but I really missed them!

Felt very fitting one of the last scenes included Yoga Jones doing the whole "think of your life as a mandala" speech

The negatives? I'm still processing it all.
For one, I don't like that Warden Ward was fired and ****ing Hellman replaced her. I know this happens in real life, and life's not fair, but it felt sort of, out of place? Regardless, prison is no cake walk, but I'd like to imagine Tamika was making life a little bit better for the inmates. Could they have not gave us that over the blackmailing scum that is Hellman ruling the place? (Again, all too common in real life, but still. It just feels like they're saying "these women will continue to be tortured!" and it just opens up more stories that'll never be told, imo. But then again, there is always gonna be story)

Daya and Aleida... that conflict could never truly be resolved and I guess I'm okay with Aleida putting Daya in her place and that be it for their story. What else could've been done? Them working together?

I just sincerely hope Red can rely on Lorna and Nicky :(

Yeah that little part with Poussey at the end? Set me off in ****ing tears. The riot mainly started from Poussey's death and wanting justice and regardless of whether it was achieved, in the end, her death had impact and her name will be remembered </3

Oh I completely agree - ESPECIALLY with the Lorna and Red part. We did already see how it all affects Nicky but at best Red's dementia sorta became light, almost played for jokes, with Freida saying "I'll wait til you lose it again" (wtte) :umm2: I do understand that Red only really had Lorna and Nicky so only those two take the impact but I would've liked to have seen her dementia explored more? I don't expect all issues in this show to be turned into something 'positive' (for lack of a better word) but I'd like to think that it'd have been great for Nicky to return the favour to Red like she wanted to by using her story as an example of how cruel the system can be. Hypothetically, she could've been fine if she wasn't locked away :(

They really did Taystee dirty. I'm so happy she's making a difference and using her time to help others - all very in character for Taystee. And again, there's people out their who have similar stories. But I felt like if anyone deserved a happy ending, it's her. Maybe the last time we see her she's got a letter saying they've got evidence or whatever for her case? Dunno how that'd work and maybe it was more appropriate to show her with a sense of purpose rather than end it with her having a possible chance of freedom, but yeah, with so many people being done wrong this season/series it would've been nice for Taystee to be among the few with a happy ending. Ah well :(



But yeah while I can certainly handle saying goodbye overall, I was just left wanting more. I know some of these women have years left and some trauma they can never get over (for example, Lorna. Although I would've liked to have seen her make some peace with it while also mourning her child </3) so it's not realistic to wrap up their stories like "yeah they're fine now and will be for the rest of their sentence!" but... yeah lmao

I'll post my thoughts and feelings tomorrow. This may be an unpopular opinion on here, but I enjoyed this show from start to finish. Netflix birthed something really special with OITNB, and arguably was the show that made Netflix the powerful machine it is today. It seems weird that it's ended :(

That's so messed up. The 9481 immigration lawyer number used in the show was a real number, and since the show was released ICE have shut down the number so people can't contact the lawyers for free.

Finished watching this last week, have to say I loved it. Had so many emotions each week.

I was so sad when Tiffany died, but then completely lost it when it was revealed she'd actually passed her exam... :bawling:

If you'd have asked me a couple of seasons ago if I'd ever dislike Daya I'd have laughed it off, but I finished this hating her. She'd just become this awful character. Totally unlikeable. Aleida on the other hand totally did a 180 with me over the seasons, basically switched with her daughter.

Red broke my heart each episode, Hellman made me want to punch the walls, I actually fell in love with Caputo and Fig (unbelievably) and thought the whole ICE situation was incredibly moving, Martiza's deportation was so sad, they way they had her just disappear from the plane was a standout. Literally "forgotten" by America, just tossed away. The children's court scene too omg </3

The ending I thought was absolutely perfect. All of the little cameos like Judy, Pornstache (who I didn't even recognise at first)! Loved that they showed Leanne, Brooke, Watson, Yoga, Norma and co in the other prison and the mandala speech by Yoga took me right back to S1.

Red and Lorna's little segment though was so heartbreaking. But who'd have thunk back in S1 that crazy, mute, toilet paper-eating Blanca would be the standout happy ending in this story!? Brilliant character progression for her.

Overall a brilliant way to end such a mammoth show! I'll really miss it.

Finally finished S7. Sad to see the show go but it was a shadow of its former self really so probably the right time. The last two seasons felt like completely different shows to its first era. At least this season felt powerful though and meaningful, especially with the ICE stories. Last season was literal trash.

I think alot of what made me lose interest was the focus on Alex/Piper more than any other characters. Writers didn't seem to get the hint that viewers cared more about the other characters than them, even if they were the primary characters.
