View Full Version : Is It Just Me Who Read Dexter's Reaction Differently Then?

Now don't get me wrong, he may well of been gutted. Hell who wouldn't be if they thought for a brief second they won 88k only to be told otherwise. But after a brief look online there are alot of people who seemed to think he was over the moon and then crushed when the twist was revealed and that it's "great how he looked all gutted,Sam to win. He Good lad xx". Was it just me then who read it the complete other way around? He may well be a good actor, because he wasn't looking very pleased to have won the money and had to leave from the second he had to open his suitcase. In fact the only sign of happiness he really showed throughout was when he was granted immunity..idc:

EDIT: Oh yeah. Here is the vid, just in case you have not seen it...

I think he chose a high number, not wanting to win -- probably expecting the others to drop down as low as 50K. Then he had mixed emotions - leaving, but taking 88K with him. The only thing that concerned me was his hesitation in choosing Sophie - was he really considering putting Gina up?

He was gutted! totally gutted! :joker:
He was like a stunned mullet when the twist was announced, he must have been thinking 'feck, how am I going to explain this one'?

The poor guy even said Thank God after it was announced he wasn't getting the money

Kizzy

Was there any relief washing over his face?.... No.
He was trying to save face literally.
Prior to the announcement notice how he has to force himself not to smile.

Felt really sorry for him at the time.

But watching it back can't stop laughing.

Watch his eyes go like mad when Big Brother says "However.... " !

Actually got a lot of respect for how he said he'd take a payoff and he followed it through.

Well seeing you asked I'll post what I said on another thread:

He pretended to look gutted but his true feelings showed whenever BB said 'however this is a lie'. Watch his eyes when this is said. They dart about in panic. That is a clear giveaway that he knows he has gambled and lost and he's ****ting himself that someone else is going to get the money. But who? who? Judy James will have a field day with this one - mark my words.
This is further confirmed when he can't hide his relief at being told he was the 'least greedy' (lol) and he was safe from eviction.
Dexter has damaged himself with the public with this one. In the video, it is perfectly clear that there were at least 3 numbers in the 90k region still left. There could have been more - his body hides part of the board.
Oh Dexter - I thought you were okay, but no more. If you had admitted you had wanted to walk with the money I'd have more respect for you.

I've got it, there were 100 random figures BUT all whole 1000's were there.

£1
£860
£1'350
£2'650
£3'990
and so on ....
£96'660 gone
£97'850
£98'200
£99'000 gone
£100'000 gone

My guess is this will have become apparent to dexter very quickly to count back to find which figure was not represented on the board.

If you had admitted you had wanted to walk with the money I'd have more respect for you.
To be fair you got the impression that he would in a previous chat with Charlie and Hazel.

Hazel said she would take a payoff, Charlie said she wouldn't (fair play to her) to which Dexter appeared to be shaking his head in disbelief.

Still will always be a good housemate though.

Absolutely right. It wouldn't have taken long to work out that £96,660 was the lowest taken.
Even if, under stress, he didn't manage that, there was clearly still several 90k's still on the board, anyone watching the vid can see that in a flash - so he knew none of them had been taken - yet he chose to take the lower 88k.

I think you're spot-on Leon!

He didn't want to take the money and was looking gutted because he thought he was about to be evicted! Obviously the haters will see it from as negative a viewpoint as they possibly can (no change there!) though.:bored:

I'm chuffed to bits (as he was) that he's now been removed from the eviction line-up and he's joining Gina in the final.
It was just karma righting some wrongs, putting all of those who deserve to be up for eviction in their correct places and making sure the people who'd provided the most entertainment and contributed the most to the series in general were guaranteed their well deserved places in the final!!!!! Woot, woot!!!!

Finally a twist that turned out good!!!

Dexter was obviously acting.

"However, Dexter will not be receiving the money"

"Thank God"

Its not a natural reaction. Also the twist was if you choose the lowest amount you will receive it and be evicted, with BB revealing that your first thought would be "Did I just get screwed over and about to be evicted with no money?".

..I agree Leon, I would have taken the money I don't think there are many people who wouldn't and with only a few days to go they're all already had the BB experience so to have that and also such a large amount of money as well would be something just too good to turn down...having said that, I think he looked relieved that it was all a lie because I think this whole thing about taking cash and not being in the final would make it a bit of a hollow decision as well...

..I also think it was quite revealing of Charlie that she tried to make him look bad because she was deemed to be greedy by BB in choosing the higher amount, and I think her conversation with Dexter was less about him choosing the lowest amount and more about letting the public know that she had chosen because of selfless reasons which I don't believe she did, I think her selflessness is quite calculated..but I guess it's just her gameplan as everyone has one...

Its hilarious that look of despair when he realises its not payday.
He might well win the show anyway but he lost the game as a whole and that makes me happy.
I dont like nasty scum.

If he wins the £100k it will mean nothing to him he can earn that dancing in his knickers and suspenders anyway.
What he really wanted was to be seen as a nice guy and he didnt achieve that by any stretch of the imagination.
He has already lost.
Last night he finally exposed his greedy dirty side to the last few people that didnt already see it.

He'll probably still be wiping away the tears when he's going to the bank to withdraw his £100 Grand!!!!

One minute you claim his whole persona and story has been an act but then you're reveling in the fact that you believe he'll be gutted at not being seen as a nice guy.............so you now believe that bit wasn't an act do you ? It's hard to keep up. Flip-Flop, flip-flop...........

Watch his jaw muscles when he sees Charlies opened, the clenching is a hidden relief and yes yes yes type of action. He only tried to look sad to save face then it was all reversed on him and he was relieved to get immuned as he is convinced he will win anyway.

I need to watch this twist in full tonight as I just don't get it.

But blimey..... Dexter looks like a girl in that video. And the way he wiped away the pretend tear :conf2:

If there is a huge twist about him then it's definitely that he's either been a female, is going through a sex change to become a female, or he actually is a woman pretending to be a man.

Not seen any of this yet as I am away, and can only view the video without sound. Looking at it for me his emotions are mixed, who wouldn't want 88,000 grand :joker: he is not a Saint, I can't say there is any clear moment when he is gutted or elated.

how did they choose who took which amount first?

Yup I would go with this. Though my mind may change when I see more of it.

The people who dont like him would never admit that theres even a chance of this being true though. Easier to paint him as a greedy twat

Even if he did want to take the money and leave (which I dont believe) I still dont see why thats bad. Every one of them are in there for the cash. They can bleat on about journeys, and doing it for the kids and stuff til the cows come home, but none of them would be there without the prize fund. The twins clearly did want to take the money and run, but they are avoiding getting blasted for it, nor should they be blasted. Its funny how they are twisting on about Dexter doing the same thing they did though :D

I really doubt he thought 88k would be the lowest. And they all thought there was a twist with what they were told too. I think the gambler in him came out, and it paid off for once.

Watching tonights highlights I am even more certain my theory is correct...
Dexter could see which values had gone it was totally obvious and even though emma tried to stress there was not a pattern there was!
Dexter really wanted to go last but gambled that Charlie would go higher than him and lied about not seeing the £99'000...... or any amount higher than £88'800 it seems?...

Ehh I don't think there was a number for each thousand there, I tried scanning it a few times and from what I could see the top ones were:

£100,000

£99,000

£96,650 (or whatever the twins chose)

£95,000

After that I didn't notice any others higher than the £88,800 Dexter took
