Daily Star: Yob Sam banned from his local

fits with his innuendo not so clean image

"i really want to promote a good image for the deaf community"

BIG Brother frontrunner Sam Evans has been branded ''a potty-mouthed fraud'' by the landlord of his local boozer

Publican Craig Davies also revealed he had banned Sam after he hit customers with a pool cue and treated staff "like skivvies". Deaf Sam has won over viewers with his Harry Styles looks and cheeky chappy image.

The 23-year-old is the 8-1 bookies' favourite to win on Monday, but Craig said: "He is a horrible, arrogant little sh*t."

Craig, 42 who runs The South Star, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, spoke out yesterday to plead with viewers not to vote for him.

He said: "I've banned him from my boozer as he's a rude, obnoxious, arrogant little kid and people should know what he is like.

"The Sam they see on Big Brother is a fake."

Craig's pub is near the training ground of Sam's football team West End United, who play in the Carmarthenshire League.

He said Sam was friendly at first until going on Channel 4's Deal Or No Deal early this year.

Craig revealed: "Sam thought because he'd been on TV he was a celebrity. He started being rude and offensive.

"He swore at my staff and treated them like skivvies. He upset customers by whacking them with his pool cue because they got in the way of his shots."

Sam's club apologised and asked him to lift the ban but Craig refused to do so.

He said: "They may have said sorry but Sam didn't. Every time I've seen him on Big Brother looking like butter wouldn't melt, I've thought: 'You're acting!' "It'd be the worst thing in the world if he won.

"His head would get so big it wouldn't fit in the Valleys."

Last night Sam's family declined to comment.

C5/ Desmond empire blatantly want Sam out.

They will make loads of money from Gina and Dexter AND Sophie fans voting out Sam -I've now accepted this could possibly transpire.

They have now played trump card with the Sam is pub yob story when Sam is up for first active/ knowing eviction (safe house dan eviction doesnt count)

Also Desmond wont make money from Sam

Plus a shock Sam eviction will reinvigorate the show as there's been no shock eviction for a few years now

Possible I guess. They quote the publican by name: Craig Davies.

I find it not too difficult to believe. I've never seen Sam as "sweet".

His aggressive approach to both Sophie and Dexter when he returned from his brief spell in the safe house was quite revealing.......

I was only asking if you agree he would have a good libel case!

If this article is a lie I would fully support Sam taking legal action.

I entirely respect a decision to support someone even if he may be a yob and has without doubt contributed nothing to the show. (I genuinely mean that, BTW).

Sam Evans, 23, entered the house on Thursday night and instantly became a favourite among Tweeters — including many from his home town.
A storeroom assistant at Debenhams in Carmarthen, Sam is a former pupil at Ysgol Maes yr Yrfa, Cefneithin.

Sam, who has 70 to 80 per cent hearing loss and relies a lot on lip reading, claims he wants to become a role model for deaf children who are too ashamed to wear their hearing aids.
He said he often gives the wrong answer to questions because of this, and compared himself to Del Boy to make himself feel better about it.
He added: "People think I look like Harry Styles. But I've got a cheesy grin that lets me get away with anything. But I'm not going to survive on my looks forever."
BB presenter Emma Willis asked him before he entered the house how he would find living without his mum.
He said: "It's going to be tough living without her, I'll be like a rabbit without lettuce, I'll miss her cooking."
His big sister, Rachel Evans, said: "We are all so proud of Sam. We'd like to wish him all the best in the house. The support he's had so far is fantastic."
Dad, David, spoke of his shock when he found out his son was a housemate.
"I couldn't believe it, we're all rooting for him," he added.
Sam's mum, Heather, said: "He's already a role model in my eyes."
Sam has represented Great Britain and Wales as part of their deaf football teams and plays for West End United football team in Llanelli.
Friends from the team passed on messages of support.
Rob Griffiths, 24, said: "I hope he can really get the chance to be himself in there, because if he can, that's when I think he will go far."
The last person from Llanelli to appear in the Big Brother house was Imogen in 2006. She lasted three months.
She said she hoped he would win the competition, adding: "Massive good luck to Sam. It's great to see someone from Llanelli enter the famous house. I will be rooting for him."
Bookmakers William Hill are pipping Sam to win the series with odds of 3/1. Sam also appeared on Deal or No Deal in October.

“I've banned him from my boozer as he's a rude, obnoxious, arrogant little kid and people should know what he is like”
Craig Davies

Hello Marmalite ... ok then .. here is my answer just for you

If Sam had entered the house simply as 'A storeman from Wales' I wouldn't have a problem with his actual claims to be in the house to promote the cause of deaf people. Yes, I know he hasn't been in the final yet *rolls eyes* but he has never, to my knowledge actually stated that if he won, he would contribute financially to his passionately held cause. I don't think Sam has any intention of giving any of his money to deaf charities, unless someone knows different. My statement about him promoting the cause of deaf people by keeping all the prize money (should he win) was done in retrospective irony. It's not often I have to spell out things in such detail.
Anyway it's all supposition anyway because he is NOT GOING TO WIN!

It's not often you have to spell things out probably because people don't ask you to explain or prove the crap you posted.

Lets go through this through stages (spell things out as you like to say):

a) Sam has never said if he wins he will donate the money to charity. So if you agree with he's never said it why did you post it?

b) He is not promoting deaf people. They're not a forgotten species that once roamed the earth and are now on the endangered list *rolls eyes*.

c) Why the **** would he go on a game show to promote a disability anyway? Is it something people can buy? Is this some marketing ploy for those that are sick of having 100% full hearing?

d) Sam said he wanted to make people more aware of the disability of deafness and what those who have the disability have to overcome in life. (Think he's accomplished this with the amount of HM's that gave him a wide berth because it was too much like hard work to actually have a conversation with him - hats off to some HM's who have bothered though).

e) He has ONLY said that he wants to give talks to kids who have a hearing disability, so that he can help them to realise what he's accomplished (being playing sports, a BB contestant, etc), so they too can accomplish anything they want.

e) If he were to win (hypothetically), why should he give the money to ANY charity? He has said what he hopes to accomplish (see e above if that helps) and with the help of some of the prize money (again hypothetically, should he win) he can accomplish this.

You said no such thing in retrospect or irony (?). You are only saying that now because I questioned your post and asked you to explain. You jumped on the Sam hate bandwagon and posted a load of drivel!

This was confirmed to me when, given the opportunity, you couldn't explain or prove it. So now you just revert back to the sarcasm and the old chestnut of "retrospect, irony and supposition".

Nice try though.

PS. Just wanted to point out to you that Sam is 'a storeman from Wales' FFS. It's just that he's got a hearing disability which is very noticable with his hearing aids and speech so he really couldn't ****ing hide that fact from you or anyone could he.

Maybe he will and maybe he won't because he couldn't be arsed?

But he's not out yet, and by the time he is and BB is all over, everyone will forget anyway.... I'm certainly not going to check up on whether he did or didn't that's up to him. But you can if you want to.

I without being bragging in any way, can happily say I treat the Daily Stars headlines as the rubbish they likely are.

It is amazing though, how all the Dexter stories so far this series have been rubbished as nonsense, likely very rightly so too, however a headline negative as to Sam is paraded as gospel in that paper.

That would have to then give some creedence to the Dexter stories if this one is suddenly now, (because it suits), being presented as fact as to Sam by anyone.
Unbelievable double standards.

Why don't you persue this for your own gratification? Don't forget to get Sam's version of the story as well though, you know to be fair and all that. But because of this smear campaign (which may or may not be 100% true and full of accurate facts) you just may not have to wait too much longer.

I love threads like this, where fans of the housemate concerned wriggle and twist, rather than face reality! ;)

OK, I will make my prediction and everyone is welcome to throw it back in my face if I turn out to be wrong. :D

I predict that Sam will neither sue the Daily Star nor even make a complaint to the press supervisory body.

Why do I say this? Because the Daily Star is a national newspaper. It is not Private Eye. The DS literally cannot afford to accuse someone of being a violent pub lout unless they are at least 99% sure of the accuracy of the story. They could be taken to the cleaners, if they have got it wrong or have made it up.

The press can - and will - make up all sorts of stories, but accusing a person of (in effect) criminality is a very serious matter. I will venture to suggest this story has been vetted at the highest editorial and management levels... maybe even by Richard Desmond himself, given his ownership of both the Daily Star and Channel 5.

To be fair I think they can when the Star are merely quoting the Pub landlord, if they were taken to court or anything all they need to say is that they were relating what they were told, they have named their source after all so the blame would lie with him not the newspaper I believe

So the story about Dexter 'rodeoing' women must be true then, what a disgusting perverted man he is then

Isn't that the point, though? Those who keep bringing up the "rodeoing" incident any time they want to defend Sam by dragging Dexter into it either have to accept this story or admit they're both wrong, and stop bringing up rodeoing any time one of Sam's offensive quotes are mentioned.

That would be absolutely no defence.

The landlord may have verbally slandered Sam but, by publishing the slander, that becomes libel by whoever published it.

Libel is more serious, but easier to prove, than slander. The DS would not have a leg to stand on.

I reckon Sam could easily get £50k out of this especially if (say) he loses his job as a result. But only if it's untrue!

Sams family refuse to comment.

that's the problem with gossip and kiss and tell stories, if you defend yourself it merely adds fuel to the fire of gossip

I wont say anymore as I don't want to get drawn into some slanderous back and forth, lets just say sam will get a pay out for this complete and utter nonsense. you can also be sure no incident happened nor was it reported nor will any supposed victim come forward nor is there any police report, police call out nothing. the only thing you can be sure of is its nonsense and the star paid this bloke.

If it is untrue I would morally support Sam to the hilt in any legal action
he wished to take.

However, can you not just answer the question: was Sam banned from the pub or wasn't he? It is not slander to tell the truth. :)

Indeed. My family would come out with all guns blazing, if I was in the house and I'd been libelled!

What I mean by that is issuing a public statement and, possibly, getting my solicitor to send some letters to Daily Star, Richard Desmond etc.

Complete failure to even comment by Sam's family just looks bad, whatever the rights and wrongs.

When they are in the wrong only thing they can say is no comment.... :joker:

Lol! Sam is probably a bit of an embarrassment to his family. ;)

That's why they get his pub mates on BOTS for the F&F Support features................

I'm a bit disappointed that nobody will deny that Sam got banned from his local - even those who say they know the pub etc are keeping very quiet. I have no regard for awful rags like the Daily Star.

But in this instance, I can only conclude the article is basically accurate.

Most, if not all, will come to the same conclusion!
