View Full Version : A Gamblers Mind

At first I was disappointed by Dexter's decision to choose the £88800. And his reasoning for not choosing the higher number seemed hesitant. But his assertion that he didn't see this figure is feasable. This hesitancy was probably because he was surprized at the venom of the attacks on him when he felt his thought processes were unfairly judged.

How often have we overlooked things because we were intent on trying to find a particular item. He said he was looking for patterns and the numbers that were lucky to him which were multiples of fours and eights.

So with the threat of a possible plot twist in the back of his mind he tempered his desire for a high-ish number, a belief that someone would go lower,(even as selflessly low as £1), by picking a number which he considered lucky. The number eight was probably a number he defaulted to in his gambling days and is known to be lucky in Asian culture. Also he is known to have been a quite unsuccessful gambler so you have to add a bit of poor judgement into the mix.

'...There is also a visual resemblance between two digits, "88", and 囍, the "shuāng xĭ" ("double joy"), a popular decorative design composed of two stylized characters 喜 ("xĭ" meaning "joy" or "happiness").

The number 8 is viewed as such an auspicious number that even being assigned a number with several eights is considered very lucky'.

That's why the twist backfired and is "not finished" according to BB.
They had no contingency plan for all of them choosing ridiculously high amounts.

I doubt he,ll be using eight as his lucky number again

Why have they done that in the past though. Give away half the money to Connor when he wasn't even close to winning the show. It's crazy.

They'd have had less than £12k left for the winner.

he picked very high. if he wanted to be certain get the cash he'd pick lower
someone had to be low anyway . everything is silly really.
the greediest is the one who took 100k as they think they wil win

Dexter chose 88,800 because 888 is the luckiest number in Chinese numerology.

How could someone have picked $1 when he went last and that value was still on the board??

Lets get this straight.....Dexter is not now nor has never been a gambler. He brought that story to boost his alter ego scenario. Secondly his lucky number thing is one of 4 things he has tried to wriggle out of what is simply a plain and easy issue. He guessed right, it backfired and he is trying to lie his way out. Simples.

Wasn't he in a UK paper about dropping like 100+ in a club in one night? Was that article a fake? I am not in the UK so never saw the article. That would be genius for it all to be a farce to build his BB image!

You can google the article, it was 121K. Read some of the testimonies that it was real he also had a photo of the reciept.
Then there where post saying it was fake coming from his ex girlfriend who is a model, and was with him that night said event occurred.

That would be genius for it all to be a farce to build his BB image!t was £120,000 supposedly for Champagne after a BIG gambling win in the club that gave him the Till Bill (not a receipt) for that amount, it was a publicity stunt last December, about the same time as all the stories and photos of him with his Rolls Royce with Personalized number D 1 started circulating. That Rolls AND the number belong to a wedding car hire company in London.
December was also the start of the "Gina Rio Rich Bitch" campaign, it's still unclear if the same agency was involved in both fake stories.

brianna,

How do you then type the pound, euro and other symbols without the native US layout keys when you need them?

Press the Alt key while typing the numbers below to make the special characters:

Alt 0163 or Alt 156 £ Pound sterling
Alt 0128 € Euro currency symbol

Thank you for the suggestion, but I tried that and each time I hit '1' it tries to save the page. I also tried in Word and when I get to alt 1 it tries to save the file. See... the UK is better than the US in yet another way!

Are you using the dedicated Number Pad or the numbers on the top row? It has to be the Number Pad

If Dexter were such an astute gambler he would be better at bluffing and lying.

He's a twerpy, nervous wreck 98% of the time.

I'd rather assumed Dexter was NOT a successful gambler and had lost a lot of money. Assuming any of it is true in the first place, of course..............
