This is a serious question, how is Sam being a role model in BB? What has he done thats set a good example? All I have seen is him swearing at Dexter, sleeping and constantly reminding people about his disability. Wouldn't being a good role model include socialising more with other HMs instead of being disrespectful to the easiest target within the house because you dont agree with their actions. I'm not hating on him, I honestly don't mind him that much just haven't seen any traits to say that he is setting an example to others in his position.

He's natural side is very spiteful. At least Dexter takes banter, Sam got offended at Gina's fashion tips she gave him. He's arrogant and hides his crap personal traits by sleeping all day. Sam wouldn't be a likable guy outside the house. Seems spoilt and defensive and has nothing to do with his hearing aid. Many people with disabilities work on their personality to get by, he clearly thinks he's too good looking.

When asked if he thought he would win by the twins he said hah I think I've been a bit offensive... or something like that.... He's a different person to the socially awkward lad that came in the house.
I feel he has learned a lot and grown whilst there... One person he won't be learning any life lessons from is dexter, cunning and sly are two traits sam does not need.

You haven't answered my question... How has he been a role model?

This has nothing to do with Dexter, so dont know why you're bringing him into it.

You mentioned dexter first...
Sam has expressed an interest in being a mentor in the future, not whilst actually in the big brother house.

I said Dexter to prove a point about Sam swearing towards him constantly therefore not setting a good example. Sam has said several times about being a role model in the house but his actions dont back it up.

Oh give over. Wolfy would have been a better role-model just by being a vegetarian.

The OP is saying how has he's attitude and behaviour made him a role model ?

To be a mentor you really have to have something to offer, like Life Experience or learned Skills that you can share and teach but from what we've seen of Sam he has very little to share that he couldn't share in a single, half-hour session!

I live in South Wales and in both my Junior and Comprehensive schools we had specially equipped 'Partial Hearing' (as they were called back then) units there so i spent a lot of my school life alongside Hearing Impaired kids and the majority of them were far more inspirational and interesting in general than Sam. Compared to most of those kids it appears that Sam has it real easy as far as how much his hearing affects his day to day life.
One of my crowd of close friends in school spent half of his day in normal lessons with us and the other half in the Partial Hearing unit. His hearing ability was around the same as the level Sam's has been said to be and it really had a minimal impact upon his daily life.
The biggest way he was affected was by other kids taking the piss because of his hearing aids which were massive back in those days in comparison to the tiny hearing aids they have these days.

Sam is just your average Welsh youngster who has done nothing special with his life so far. He's really not what i'd call 'A Good Role Model' or a good example of what someone who has a hearing disability can achieve despite their hearing problems, unless perhaps their goal in life is to end up with a dead-end job with no prospects and no apparent ambition!

Hes not famous...

...Neither are any other deaf people. I think it would be great for a young partially or completely deaf child to see a deaf guy on TV at all but to succeed at doing so must be brilliant for them.

But neither you, I or anybody else on this forum (presumably) can answer your question.

First of all, its not easy coming forward to try and socialise with people if you are deaf and dumb. He wants to show people who suffer from the same disability that you should not let your disability stop you from making the most of your life. Secondly, he is a testament to the advancement of medical science. Thirdly, the housemates dont really have time to him, Sam made mention of when he would ask Dexter to repeat or explain to him sonething that was said and Dexter refused, so Sam couldnt flow more with people cos people did not take his disalibity into consideration when conversing with him, they spoke over him many at times.

Gina and Callum where the only two who listened to Sam, taking his disalibity into consideration, and he opened up to them more. On many live stream feeds I have watched Sam have deep chats and conversations with Callum and Gina and he is very funny and smart once he opens up to you.

Most importantly, he is very honest unlike Dexter who is obviously playing a game and we all know he is. I prefer a bore to a sly and devious person, atleast the bore can be trusted. Dex obviously played a game when he went for the £88,000 and the fact that he denied that was what made Sam upset because he was so playing the game. Sam deserves to win, he has been true to himself since the beginning, unlike Dexter who changes every now and then.

You lot should give Sam the benefit of the doubt. Yes he came into the House to be a role model, he is just 23 and trying his best to live up to what he set out to accomplish. No one wrote a book on how to be a perfect role model. Its easy for you guys to sit behind your computers and call him a bore, but until you suffer from his disability can you really understand the pressure he is under in the House and how he has to try so hard to do things all other housemates do easily. Like the other day he told Jack and Joe that on Friday evictions he ussually does not hear Emma very clearly and he just reads everyone else's reaction to know what's going on. So its easy for you to sit and call him a bore but you dont understand. He almost cried during the Therapist task when he was explaining to Callum how hard it is for him to open up in the House as people talk over him contantly and do not give him the opportuinity to have a say. Although I have no disability but he inspires me to do so much better.

..a very good post, I'm not sure I agree with the last part of it in that I think they have all been playing a game so in a way you could say they were all devious, I just think Sam's gameplan has been more to sit back and let things happen and not get too involved..just because Dexter has been more 'obvious' in his gameplan I don't necessarily think he's a horrible and devious person..in fact his gameplan has been more transparent...

Dexter should not win because he holds classes on how to use and dump women. He spent more than £100,000 in one night at a bar so just imagine how he is going to use the money, considering that there are other housemates who would really benefit from that money, to Dex that is change.

He says he would like to stay till the end but save for the second twist yesterday he would have made away with £88,000 living nothing for the winner, how selfish and greedy. He is so two faced, he slated Jackie so much in the safe house but became best buddies with her when he came out. He was best buddies with Hazel but when Hazel and Gina got into an altercation he went into the Diary Room and called Hazel "Evil" and said "There's nothing beneath her eyes(meaning she is heartless)". He pretended to be best buddies with Hazel but when Hazel left he slated her in front of Gina.

When Sam dissapeared as part of dexter's magic show task Dex said that Sam told him to never speak to him again when all Sam said was "Don't feel the need to come and talk to me because Callum is gone". He tried turning people against the poor boy. I could go on forever.

I dont think Sam is playing a game to be honest, I dont think Gina is too either. Playing a game would be going out of your way to make things happen, things that involves, is about, and consists you. Sam does not do that but Dexter does. At first he fancied Hazel, and later said Charilie because Hazel was with Daley and because considering the fact that Callum fancied Charile, If Dexter said he fancied Charlie too then that would create a love triangle which would make headlines. I dont have an issue with the fact that he is playing a game, but let him not make it seem as if anyone who tells him that he is playing a game is talking absolute bollocks, that is what annoys me and Sam I suppose.

...I think they all have a gameplan but sometimes gameplans are less participated in that it can be to stay in the background more and 'coast' to the final as some people would say...I agree with what you say about Dexter's 'storyline' and how it's been contrived, it's just that I don't think he's the only person to contrive it, I think that Charlie equally did so, she wasn't really interested in either of them but wanted to keep the triangle going because it gave her a 'storyline'..but she also didn't want to be seen as leading them on so she was very careful in how she handles it....I don't disagree with you in that I think that Sam seems like a fairly nice person, I don't think he's perfect but no one's perfect, that doesn't mean to say he can't be a good role model, even if he's played a game..but I think he has played a game..I think mentioning his disability in terms of him wanting to raise awareness etc is part of his game..

He wants to be a role model for kids with hearing difficulties when he comes OUT the house, he wants to highlight the disability while in the house. He has done one, and will go on to do the other once out.
