Sam was the one who said what the others were saying behind Dexters back, fair play to Sam, he knew it would go against him but he obvious has principles.

People don't like to hear it but Sam was right. Dexter chose low enough to go with the money but a nice figure.

Dexter lied when he said winning is more important than the money. In his mind he thinks he is going to lose anyway, so why not take the money and run.
