I wonder what 'its the proof the "pound note" is your only range' means? Dexter has avoided the eviction and the chances of Sam going tonight appear to be increasing, so I think Dexter may be avoiding 'this hate slush' after all.

it means - when it came down to money - dexter wanted to run with it - as when he went in he wanted to show there was a side to him that is not all about business and money - i guess he has fallen flat on his face.
