I know generalising has been banned by political correctness, but we do it for the 300 million americans, why not the 3 million Welsh?
The welsh housemates, always seem to send in very nice consistent housemates, yes some have been dull at times. But overall very solid decent people.
They could well continue to dominate the show unless the other nations up their game.
Game playing is dead. The best way forward for potential winners, is yes to be entertaining, funny, eccentric, probably a hard luck story, but bulimia and eating disorders I suspect people have got bored of hearing about. but not to have a see through shallow game plan that can be worked out in 5 minutes.
In the case of sam. he didn't have a game plan other than to be himself. Although his joke skills were a clever trick to have in the bag. The only real strategy is to be yourself without revealing yourself totally. Sounds simple its not that easy for 10 weeks with cameras watching everything.
well done sam, worthy winner this year imo.

different places have different cultures. the welsh culture seems quite conservative to me. this is why these housemates are quite conservative and have clear values and boundaries of behaviour beyond which they wont go. I believe this is undoubtedly true of the welsh housemates over these 12 years or so.

I beg to differ, he did have a gameplan which he admitted to which was to keep his head down. He said this himself so it is not speculation. Also as soon as Vanessa Feltz said he was boring, he managed to jump of the fence, confront Dexter about numerous things that didn't really concern him, and declare his feelings for Gina, so I really don't think with hand on heart you can say he didn't have a gameplan, but he won and good luck to him.

keeping your head down is not a gameplan its a way of life, everyone does that at times simply to survive and get on with life. as for Vanessa feltz she is a prize dickhead

I disagree, there are nice and not so nice people in every culture, it's a bit silly to generalize a whole nation of people like that and tbqh I would be offended if I were Welsh to be called nice but bland lol

he'd already challenged Dexter a number of times before Vanessa Feltz made her comment.
I seem to recall a bunch of people on here complaining about the way he was being 'aggressive' towards dexter at the time.
People have such short memories and seemingly selective blindness.
Also: the business about him declaring his true feelings for Gina. Gina's response when asked about it during the exit interview was that 'everybody knew' that he fancied her. He clearly waited until the end of the show to voice it (under the influence of alcohol) because to do so earlier would have created discomfort within the house. As he said, she has a boyfriend - not like anything would happen, nor would he have wanted to push it, given he's a decent lad (that's my reading of it anyway). So, everybody knew it, yet we saw very little about that in the HL shows.

Yes he had said he thought Dexter was rude on one occasion, and then there was the confrontation after he had seen some footage which was BB manufactured, both situations involved his feelings towards Dexter which was fine, but after the VF thing he decided to bring up the row after F and F noms and Dexter girlfriend which had nothing to do with him really, and as for revealing his feelings for Gina well...:joker:

Maybe but I dont see why people are concentrating on nationality.
Luke A should have never won despite him being a nice guy. His 2 teammates were in the final - Deana, one of my favourite female HMs, and Adam, an even nicer guy who offered a little bit more in my opinion. The only reason he got the win is because he is transgender.

differne places have different culture which produce different types of people, different values, different mind sets etc some nations for example who are used to being oppressed find it harder for their individuals to rise up and seize control and lead their nations. every nation has a different culture, every place too. wales especially has a culture of its own and is generally more conservative in its value system.

there are different cultures in different places. otherwise why does every city, town, village, anthem, audience, etc etc etc have an atmosphere and a culture all of its own....I reject the paul McCartney claim people are the same wherever you go....people are different wherever you go....yes you give everyone a chance and never prejudge, but different places do have different cultures, different value system, different work ethics, different everything. wales has its own culture, which is totally lost on the English. similarly the scots have a totally different culture based on a totally different education system. overall the scots are vastly more worldly wise and knowledgeable overall than the other 3 UK nations.

Put your ego down and re-read the thread. Instead of charging in with petty witless sarcasm. How many Welsh housemates have there been? Not many. But they have still won 3 shows. And after 12 years or so we can see a correlation in behaviour patterns in different parts of the UK. Why are we even wasting our time? :conf:
Because it amuses me to poke the troll... Up to a point. Kind of bored with it now though.
I agree give this one up. The Welsh housemates have been superior in action and deed. Clearly they have stronger values than their counterparts from the rest of the UK.
Obviously if you were in the house the opinion of Welsh people would change given your haughty, superior manner.

You're quite right SM, on the whole I really quite like Wales and the Welsh. It's whiney flag-wavers I can't stand...

She made up for lost time when she got out though, didn't she. So I reject your claim about the Welsh. My experience is that you get an equal number of idiots wherever you go.
I think you are 100% wrong. Go to downtown Krakov or Kabul or frankly anywhere and each place is different as is its people and its culture. Different places have different culture and different sets of values. To claim everywhere is much the same , when everywhere is in fact different with 1000s of years of different history, culture and values is absurd. This is partly where the british empire went pear shaped. we thought everyone thought like us and that we could impose our values on others. well we couldn't and we cant. Everywhere is different and we should learn to respect those differences not patronise cultures and ignore other ways of thinking.

Actually, my family only came to England after the war. None of us had anything to do with the Empire and my family are still scattered across several countries. I've lived and worked in a few countries too, including the USA.
What I meant about people all being the same has nothing to do with their culture. People are people are people... some good, some bad.

Our tongues are not designed for that sound, there is no such sound as gaeilge :idc:

Me and Livia have had nought but praise for the Welsh, you seem to have a skewered vision of us though not that I'll cry myself to sleep over it mind...

You're allright. But there is stupendous levels of ignorance in England which the masses are hopelessly unaware of. the masses simply are not educated enough in the culture of their fellow UK nations. Does anyone really know how we managed to rule the waves?
