Apart from Kirsty going that's generally good news, especially regarding Alice, hopefully it puts things in the right direction

This hasn't been confirmed... only Alice's axing has been confirmed.

Although apparently it's on the Sun, so could be true.

They should keep Kirsty and axe Dexter/Sam instead. Kierston is a great actress, she hasn't had a chance to shine.

I really liked Kirsty, gutted about her and Alice too:(.

Carl had a shelf life due to him being a bad guy.. I liked him, but not surprised that he is leaving.

AJ was underused and the Actor was not happy about how he was treated by EE which I could understand.

Poppy was a light hearted character in what is a soap where the majority of the characters are vile one another most of the time, so am disappointed we will lose some of the humour.

Agreed about Kierston, she was underused but did comment recently that she could not see herself staying in EE forever due to wanting to do different acting roles.

Dexter/Sam and Ava should go, the writing and characterisation for them has been dreadful nothing against the Actors because they can only work with the scripts they have given.

And yet again the boring plank of wood that is gormless Joey escapes the axe just because of the he is well fit brigade:bored:.

Agree, Kirsty has grown on me, turned into a good character, the actress is very good and works well with Jake Wood. Hope she sticks around. Not bothered about the rest, plus I'd get rid of a few more. Cindy jr, The Hartmans and Lucy Beale.

Bring back Jean, why on earth has she gone :(

And yep, Joey is possibly the worst actor they've ever had on the show, and he may have a pretty face but he is so bland he does nothing for me whatsoever. Zero charisma.

The thing that annoys me is that they had Kirsty too focused on Max and did not even bother to develop her character further without him, which is a shame.

Kirsty had more chemistry with Carl IMO and I think Kierston worked better with Daniel Coonan than Jake Wood.

AJ could have had more of an impact if they had bothered to develop him more too.

AJ was a pointless addition, he's done nothing since his arrival so I understand his axing. I really like Poppy, she isn't someone who has had major storylines but she's not over-the-top nor is she dreadful. Her and Fatboy could've got married and that would've been nice for them. Kirsty, I wish she'd stay. As for Carl, it's inevitable that he was going to leave at some-point.

It's behind the scenes where EE needs an overhaul the most, starting with their creative team LOL.

confirmed now...

i think kierston was mutual rather than an axing, she was only staying for a year from the start

there will be more, i imagine, but i don't think dominic wants to axe too many at once

There'll be more to come. They just have to wait until contracts end. We may hear of Joey's axing next year.

From seeing a small snipet of today's episode I believe they have made the right decision.. next to be axed should be the whole show.

Ditto. You can't 'axe' a character until their contract is up for renewal. At this point we can't know who he intends to keep and who he wants to bin. A character not being axed right now should absolutely not be taken as a declaration of faith in them and it's only really over the next half a year to year that we'll begin to hear more (and I anticipate we will).

Yes, but it's true. They all have contracts, you can't write them out until said contract expires.

Otherwise you'll be paying them until the end of the contract for doing no work. Not very good usage of the license fee.

Exactly. Waterhog doesn't seem to understand that you absolutely cannot stop an actor from working and thus getting paid because the character is a waste. Otherwise the likes of Fatboy and insipid Joey would have long pissed off.

Business over sentiments and all that. Popular soaps are no exception.

Yes, you flog the same one in this section all the time.
