Well I only ever mate if I want one myself I never breed for the money, infact the last time I bred she had nine pups (diff dog) and she had to have a c section and didn't take to them so I had to hand rear them. I spent and absolute fortune and got nowhere near as much back as wot I paid on vets bills and formula milk, anyway this time Ive mated with a friends dog, we want one, the person who trains our greyhounds wants one and the person with whose dog we used, well her and her mam want one but @ the minute dad is saying no lol. I would like them to race and stay local but if people want them as pets then that's fine too so long as they are good homes.

yes Nathan that is correct, bitches have either one or two seasons (heats a year) which last between 3 and 4 weeks, they can only be mated @ a certain point sort of between 11 and say 16 days into the season, although some can be mated later. Then 9 weeks later they will more than likely have a multiple birth. much better than a woman, shes has a period every month can get pregnant every month, be pregnant for nine months and prob have only 1 baby unless it twins etc lol

Well I would say an average litter would be about 4 or 5, but my cross greyhound x whippet had 9 but years ago the 1st time I bred she only had one. Average about 5 though. They say bitches make better racers but I personally don't think that.

Well my bitch Gem is 6 weeks pregnant today, it looks like shes defintly took as she put on weight and inches, so only 3 weeks to go now. Up to now I need her to have 3 bitches and 1 dog and 1 person isn't bothered they just want the smallest. All will be staying near me so I will see them all the time. Almost all will be racing, so fingers crossed everything goes to plan. I have no idea where I am going to put a new puppy like but im sure il find somewhere lol

Im keeping one hopefully a bitch which i think i may call maddie but im not too sure on a name as yet.

Its not too far about a 10/15 min drive and the kennels are barns which will be heated so she should be ok. yes I might start a thread for a name lol

Now if all goes well I will be keeping a bitch puppy but im needing a name. The dogs I have already @ home zak hes 13 today so happy birthday to him. Then I have Kez, Nikki (named after nikki Graeme) Rio, Gem (shes having the pups) Bear (boy) and Mink. Greyhounds my partner has that don't live here, Holly, Suzy, Serena, Ruby and Indy. So maybe not any of those names although I like Indy lol
Names I quite like for new pup: Maddie, Mo and Raven. So if anyone would like to suggest any then please feel free to do so. Il prob wait to see what color she is and stuff but theres no harm in suggesting. I have also had a jazz in the past and a ziggy and a sam. Mink was going to be called Josie after Josie Gibson but she is the color mink and I nicknamed the whole litter when they were born as I hand reared them and she was nicknamed Mink and it stuck lol

ok 1st one fawn boy, 2nd one brindle we don't know wot sex yet, 3rd one silvery blue bitch, 4th one another fawn we don't know the sex yet. there may be one more we r not sure. the mother (gem) has had food and drink and is quite content and feeding them well. I cannot wait to see them in the morning. im going to bed soon as I have a water infection and am in lots if pain.

They are staying @ the farm until they go to their new homes. Brax is staying @ the farm the greyhound trainer is having him. A guy who races with us is having one of the other boys, Im trying to persuade the owner of the stud dog to have the last remaining dog Ive had a few enquiries about him but Im hanging onto him incase he wants him and I of course am having Tinsel. I will be going to see them all the time though.

Shes doing really well, shes a very good mam, shes settled very well @ the farm but my partner is going quite a lot to see her he was there again today I may go on wed if not wed then prob fri. Yes kizzy her name is Tinsel now I need a racing name lol All my whippets are either something whizz or whizzy something. It all started with Whizziwig, then her son mickey whizz then his half brother whisper whizz, then a little bitch called crackin whizz, then Nikki whizz, Then digga whizz, then Sparklin whizz (tinsels mum), and final 2 whizzy jack and jakki whizz they are brother and sister.
Ok so as Tinsel is out of Sparklin whizz I want a name that is kind of sparkly, heres what Ive come up with: Twinklin whizz, Glistenin whizz, Glimmerin whizz, shimmerin whizz, I like diamond whizz but think someone has the prefix of diamond so I prob wudnt get it, theres diamonte whizz, dazzlin but again think someone has the prefix, so if anyone can think of any more u get the gist.

ooh quite like fizzin whizz lol and yes I suppose they do sound like drugs. I had a bitch years ago and her racing name was whizziwig which was a kids prog about an alien head that granted accidental wishes, I mated her with a dog called mickey mouse (race name) and she had one pup zak, his racing name became mickey whizz a combo of the 2. So ive stuck to whizz ever since. Keep suggestions coming I have loads of time before I need to give her a racing name but its always good to hear suggestions.

she is very happy she thinks she queen of the kennels man lol barking whenever anyone goes past. I should have them home in about 3 weeks I think im bringing rio who now shares a kennel with gem, into the house so il have 4 indoors and 4 in kennels. I hope rio will settle indoors though.

Such a hard life being a puppy.

maybe 6 and half to 7 nd half weeks providing they are ll eating well. I know vets say 8 weeks but weve always had them before 8 weeks and they've been fine, its just u cant get there 1st vaccination till 8 weeks I think that's why?

tinsel got her 1st vaccination today she was realy good but pooped in the car on the way there and screamed in the car, but was good in the vets, she weighs 6lb 6oz @ 8 weeks old. here is a pic of her with her mammy taken today il then post a one of her on her own.

I cant believe Tinsel and her brothers are 9 weeks tomorrow. Il weight Tinsel tomorrow, shes eating very very well now and it nice and chubby. I was talking to owner of Vinnie on sat and he too is eating well. Theres still 2 @ the farm Tim who is staying there and the last one is going to his new home on sunday, hes either getting called harry or mac.All of them will be living with other dogs, mine is with gem the mam, Vinnie is with a lurcher, Tim will live with a greyhound and a staffy and harry/mac will live with another whippet. hope he settles ok like as hes been with tim for the last 3 weeks.

Tinsel is 10 weeks old tommoro and is going for her 2nd vaccination and micro chipping, which she wont like one little bit. This time il remember to take the bedding out my car and put a puppy pad in as she will more than likely poop lol

Little update, tim has settled in lovely with riley the staffy, the one that went to his new home on sun is called mac and the owner text me and said hes brave lol he has another dog joe so I can only assume he meant hes brave with joe lol Vinnie as far as I know is settled really well.
tinsel went for her 2nd vaccination today and micro chipping. she screamed all the way there in the car, then was a little angel in the waiting room until a spaniel came in and started barking, tinsel let out an almighty bark giving everyone a fright lol everyone cooed over her as she is just ridicuosly cute. went in vet checked her over said nice healty pup then got out this enormous needle to micro chip, she was extremely quick but tinsel screamed, she then got her 2nd vaccination and cried a little, I went to give her a treat but she was too traumatised to eat it lol she got weighed and weighs 10lb 2oz @ 10 weeks old. then she screamed all the way home coz she **** all over the cage and it stunk. since coming home shes been absolutely fine. vet says 10 days till she can go out on the lead, but I never wait 10 days but il wait a bit though.

Tinsel had a day out watching the whippet racing yesterday. A very long journey for her Newcastle to Barnsley took about 2 hours 15 minutes. We did stop on the way there and of course she had pooped in the cage. Luckily I had took plenty puppy pads and wipes etc. She screamed most of the way there on and off. When we got there I bought her a proper collar and lead, I already had a coat which was about £3 from b & m bargains and everyone commented on how nice it was. @ 1st she wouldn't walk, but then she did for treats lol. She got loads of fuss made over her, met loads of dogs and pups, she seemed to enjoy her day. She entered into a puppy show and came 4th and got a rosette.
